1983 (12th region) Somerset upset defending State Champion Laurel County in the first round of the district.

Laurel County has: South Laurel High fed by South Laurel Middle North Laurel High fed by North Laurel Middle Laurel County also has East Bernstadt Independent (grades K-8) which is in the North district, but they do not have a football program.

There is no way that UConn basketball only brought in $1.3 million. If they had 12,000 seats for home games X 18 home games X only $15 per ticket, that would equal $2.7 million by itself. That doesn't count away games, TV money, merchandising, etc.

I am not sure, but they have scrimmaged Somerset the past few years.

If they can win more than 2, and I think they will, ... it will be an improvement over this past season. Adding Harlan Co definitely makes the schedule more difficult.

I'm not sure. I haven't been able to go to any of the games. I would think it is pretty tight.

I agree. John D Wilson is probably one of the most underrated coaches in the state. He gets the most out of his kids and in the future, this young group will be tough. Greg Parrot is still an assistant at North. Great guy and I know they are glad to have him!

It looks like the staff is starting to come together. Here are the names I am hearing as assistants. - Dagley (staying) - Carson (staying) - Slade (coming onto staff as D-coordinator, moving from Memphis, GREAT hire if this is accurate. NL tried to get him a few years ago but did not have a teaching job) - Daq Larkey (possible) I like what I am seeing so far.

I agree on the passing, although I think he is showing improvement. But at 6'4", I think his size is fine. Delk had a little trouble at the next level, but he was only 6'1". He also elevates and has great quickness/speed.

You have to throw Seidel in the mix here. Without him, I am not sure how many games North would have won this season. He is one of the best players in the region. However, in all likelihood, it goes to a player from one of the better teams in the region.

Garrard got an absolute STEAL when they hired Mark Scenters. He was passed over by other schools when he was an assistant and he will prove to be one of the better head coaches in the area given some time. Classy guy, great coach!

He hasn't surprised me at all. I remember seeing him play his senior season and told several people (actually I posted it on BGP after a GRC game at North Laurel) that he was the best high school player I got to see play in person that entire season. I love the way this kid plays and thought Pitino got a steal when he picked him up! Sometimes I am wrong, but am glad I wasn't on him. Seems like a terrific kid as well.
