  1. I picked he NL upset over KC, but I am afraid I can't pick it against Corbin. I hope I am wrong, but Corbin just has too many weapons.
  2. Sutton's team had more talent IMHO than the 1998 NCAA Championship team.
  3. South Laurel vs Middlesboro Corbin vs North Laurel Who wins and advances to the finals and why?
  4. Make this one a pay for view event and I'll tune in!!
  5. I wasn't trying to be that funny, ... I really liked the writeup!!! That writer must have been doing this for a while!
  6. I agree 110%. Skywalker was da man for the Cats. He also had a decent outside shot and could back to the basket or facing the basket. His career in the NBA was just starting to get on track when he blew his knee. After the surgery, he was not able to pick up where he left off.
  7. I saw that in that wonderfully written story on the game! Post a link dude!
  8. The other side of that coin is that UK's schedule was much tougher as was the SEC than what we have seen this year.
  9. I don't think he was injured, but I could be wrong. Conway went with a different and quicker lineup to give them better matchups and a few extra ball handlers against KC and it was very effective. Jones, Baker, Seidel, Cheek & Couch were the starters, and normally Cheek and Jones have not been starters. He knew that Miller was going to get his points (32 game high plus 11 boards), and felt that using more guards would help them against the rest of the Panthers. At least, that is my take on it.
  10. If North plays as aggressive as they did Thursday, the Hounds will get to the line. North had Seidel & Wardup with 4 fouls each at the end of the game. Corbin just may have too many weapons for NL to defend them all.
  11. Agreed. They have someone to run the point, which makes them a much better squad now.
  12. My bad. I forgot that Harlan County is a first year consolidated school this season. Cumberland had a decent team last year with a 20-10 record. But anytime they played a good team (Middlesboro 2 times, Southwestern 1 time and North Laurel 1 time), they lost badly. With more talent, they should be stronger this year, but you have to play a much tougher schedule to get ready for the postseason. Cumberland scored 6.8 runs pg and gave up 4.2 runs per game with a fairly weak schedule. North Laurel scored 6.8 runs pg and only gave up 1.1 runs pg against arguably the toughest schedule in the state last year playing most of the teams in the top 25. I hope they do very well this year, but there is still a big gap between the Laurel's and anyone else in the 13th right now. Corbin will be factor this year, but I don't see anyone in the region beating NL or SL, especially come tournament time.
  13. I have no idea. There must have been other issues as well. I just hope it all works out for the kid's sake.
  14. Let's be honest here, Sutton had 3 of the best players to ever play at UK in Walker, Bennett and Davender. He also had a solid PG in Harden and Blackmon was a good athlete. I think Sutton's team was more talented. Also had a deeper bench IMHO.
  15. Hatcher can flat out coach. He has won everywhere he has been and PCC has to be tickled to death to have him.
  16. I wouldn't mention any names either. I just hope none of the kids saw it. The thing is, I thought KC played hard as well. Both teams were scrapping like crazy for 4 quarters. It was an exciting game. Like you said, if NL didn't hit the majority of their FT's down the stretch, and if Shears hadn't hit that huge 3 pointers, KC would be playing Corbin on Monday instead of NL.
  17. I hoped that as well, but it is hard to replace the experience of having been in that situation, and Jasper had that advantage. Plus, he played with more control than most frosh PGs. I really hate that we lost him. I think he would have made a HUGE difference this season.
  18. I saw the highlights, and that looked like one Jim Dandy of a ballgame. Hatcher was very complimentary of KCC.
  19. If North gives the same effort they gave last night, it will be a MUCH different game than last time. They may not have all the horses that Corbin has, but they can make this a good game. The key is to just stay close and give yourself a shot towards the end. It appeared that a parent/fan for KC was in a very heated argument with a KC assistant after the game and Coach Elam had to stand between them. What was interesting was that it was such a close game the entire way, NL led slightly after 1, KC led slightly at the half, it was tied after 3, but the crowd did not really get into the game until the 4th quarter. Then it was a great atmosphere.
  20. I agree 100%. Wardup was the difference. Everyone knew what Seidel could do, and he did. But Wardup was the something extra that NL needed. Not only did he drive and get some key rebounds, but hit his FTs at a high rate down the stretch. I know it was early, but I thought that the first offensive possession for KC when 5'7" Dustin Baker elevated from behind and blocked Miller's shot in the lane, it set the tone for the effort that the Jags were going to give.
  21. Both of the coaches they had did a very good job, especially considering that they had no football at any level in Jackson County when they started the program 3 years ago. They have won 2-3 games every year they have played. Give them time and a feeder program, and down the road, they could be competitive.
  22. If they get to Rupp, I could see them playing on Saturday. When they play team ball, they are a tough out for anyone. They didn't start playing that way last night, but sure did in the 2nd half. They have so many weapons that you can't focus on just one player.
