  1. Corbin will be ready. Like Dave and Dave said last night, they saw a much different NL team than they saw when they played them earlier. Should be a fun game to watch. North had a much more balanced attack with 4 players in double figures (Seidel, Wardrup. Shears & Cheek I believe were all in double figures). The Jaguars actually attacked the basket against KC which they didn't do in the first Corbin game or the first Knox Central game.
  2. I am not sure he is ready just yet, ... but then again as a UK fan, I want him back in Blue again next year.
  3. Harlan played their guts out and kept it close early. Several key Corbin players were in early foul trouble (including Isaac Wilson and Aaron Manns) in the first half. But the 2nd half, Corbin really turned it up a notch. They will be a tough team to beat and showed in the 2nd half why they are the favorites to go to Rupp from the 13th. I thought Josh Smith kept Corbin in it in the 1st half, but a total team effort in the 2nd half to put this one away.
  4. I picked this one, and was awfully close to the score. I just felt like Seidel and Couch want to end their senior seasons on a bang. Wardrup was amazing in the 4th quarter. Shears, Cheek, Couch, and the rest of the Jags played a great game. Cody Miller is a stud ball player! He was remarkable. I will also say that the officiating which was bad on Wednesday night, didn't get any better tonight.
  5. 24 wins (not counting postseason tourney play) and a NCAA berth. Possibly winning the SEC East title (which they actually competed for this year until the end).
  6. I agree. I think he has gained a lot of valuable knowledge the past few years that will help him be a GREAT one when he does get that opportunity.
  7. That's probably about right. I hope that is what it is.
  8. Possibly, but no new news on the superintendent hire yet.
  9. Yes he stayed with Rich, but that was a totally different and far worse (and long term) situation. It's like comparing apples and oranges. 1. Brooks took over a program with recruiting limitations and scholly limits that put UK at the D1AA level. 2. The SEC is a BRUTAL football conference. 3. UK football has NEVER been a national football power for more than a season or two, and only once when they were not caught for cheating (Bryant did it but Curci got them put on probation the year they were 10-1. 1. BCG took over at UK with some talent, but not national power type talent 2. The SEC is WAY down from what it was 2 years ago when UF was winning back to back national titles and the conference was getting 40% of the conference in the tourney every year, now we are looking at possibly 4 teams 3. He brought in PP (well done), had Jasper (the PG we need) and Meeks not counting Crawford and Bradley last year. 4. He brought in his PG fix in Liggins, Harrellson, & Galloway but his recruits haven't fixed the situation 5. In basketball, you can rebuild a program MUCH faster due to the fewer number of players used and the major impact a big time player can have on a program and in a hurry (See Jamal Mashburn). 6. You put Jasper on this team with the emergence of Miller, and IMHO, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I do agree that no way Barnhardt & Todd get rid of BCG unless there is something else going on we don't know about. I agree with giving him another year or possibly 2. It would be bad if BCG left right now and would really limit the field of possible candidates. But let's be honest, less of this is falling in Tubby's lap and more into BCG's. This team looked better at midseason then they do right now and with no injuries to speak of. I think he did a better job last year losing Meeks and Patterson and getting more from Stevenson and making a nice run at the end of the season to get into the dance. The bottom line is that it has to get better next year, ... has to.
  10. I talked with 2 former players from Rockcastle. Their comments were extremely complimentary on Chris. Like I said before, I have know Chris for years, but to hear former players talk about his fiery attitude and his endless energy as well as knowledge, tells me that this is a HUGE step in the right direction! It may take him a few years to build that winning attitude back at North Laurel that they have lost, but if anyone can do it, Chris can! Talked with Boucher today and he had spoken with a very well respected person in Rockcastle who told him that Chris absolutely knew how to get the most out of every kid all the time. I have spoken with some NL parents who have been extremely impressed that he knows what he wants to do, and has a good head on his shoulders. The more I see and hear, the more I believe that this is a great LONG TERM hire.
  11. Just introduced and the person who wrote the bill couldn't get anyone to sign on to it with him, which is a good sign.
  12. You got it. No way that Wright leaves SL for the WV job. The only job I know that tempted him several years ago was GRC and he turned that down to stay in Laurel County.
  13. I think it will take at LEAST 2 SEC tourney wins plus a UF win to have a shot. The SEC will get 4 teams in, ... 5 at the most. As far as BCG, a guy I work with has been a HUGE BCG supporter. This morning is the first time I have heard him really down on BCG. His comment was 'How can you have 2 players as good as PP and JM and not be better than this? Something is going on with this team we just don't know about for them to be playing like this. Earlier in the season they played better than they are right now.' Next year they HAVE to show some major improvement or BCG could be on the hotseat. The loss of Jasper is REALLY coming home to roost right now. If they have a healthy Jasper, they would be a much better team.
  14. I agree. Billy Clyde, while I have been critical of him this season, needs to have 1-2 more seasons to prove himself. It would be a tough sell, especially to any top notch coaches if he was let go after 2 years. I don't see him being fired and think this thread is a little premature.
  15. They do need to find a coach for the long term. Someone who can get down to the middle school level, help get a little league program started, and build it from the ground up. They have some good athletes and give great effort. Just need a guiding hand with patience.
  16. Bad loss with everything to lose. Now the only way to make the big dance is an SEC tourney title. This one hurt.
  17. Work on building the feeder program.
  18. Most predicted that this could be the best first round game of the 13th, and it sure didn't disappoint!
  19. Nice one! I did live there for 5 years. I got into a little legal trouble while in WV. I was indicted for smuggling in books. However, lucky me, the charges were dropped as noone in the state could prove they were books!
