I would guess if they are looking at strikeouts, Kirsten Allen's name very well may be there. Especially her sophomore season, she was just dominant in the circle.

This season, Taylor averaged around 2 strikeouts per inning pitched. She may be little, but she is a bulldog in the circle!

McCloud has done a great job at GRC. Good to see him getting more girls in the game. Every girl would love to say that they played in the state tourney!

Taylor was the Gatorade KY POY last year as a junior. Her numbers this year were even better, .... but Gaines from SL just destroyed the ball breaking several state hitting records and took the award to the South side of town.

Your faster than Derek, ... he just updates after each inning. Thanks Goldie!!

Taylor is excellent at getting herself out of a jam, ... often with a strikeout.

After 5 innings Ashland 5 Somerset 3

Looks like the Jags bats woke up in the 2nd game and are staying warm.

After 4 innings Somerset 3 Ashland 3

2 innings complete NL 3 GRC 0

I've been getting them from Derek Forrest from WYMT who is out there covering the state tourney. He is a great guy and the updates have been very helpful since I didn't get to go!

After 3 innings Somerset 3 Ashland 0 How bout them Jumpers!!!

It was supposed to start at 530pm CST. After 1 inning NL 3 GRC 0

After 1 inning played NL 3 GRC 0

Jags advance in the losers bracket to face GRC

I forgot that Somerset had faced Reidland earlier this year. They are a perennial power!

Nice win for the Jumpers. ACS will be the best team they have faced this entire season. Tough row to hoe, but at the state tourney, you are going to face some solid teams.

6 innings played ACS 2 NL 1

Briarjumpers get an impressive win over a high scoring Jenkins squad in the 1st round. Will play the winner of ACS and NL this afternoon.

5 innings played ACS 2 NL 1 Sounds like a humdinger in the first round!

After 2 innings played ACS 2 NL 0 This is the 3rd meeting between these two teams, and ACS won both the previous meetings.

I would also add that both Gaines and Taylor are two of the nicest young ladies you will ever meet!

For the 2nd straight season, a Laurel County athlete has won this award. 2009 was then JR pitcher Megan Taylor from North Laurel, .... 2010 is now SR Emily Gaines from South Laurel. Congrats to Emily on keeping this award in Laurel County!!! http://thetimestribune.com/sports/x93709448/Obey-your-thirst

Congrats to Coach Marcum!!

Any other candidates? I know the pitcher for Allen Co Scottsville has had a tremendous season. http://thetimestribune.com/sports/x93707840/Tri-Countys-Best Emily Gaines has to be in the conversation and probably a front runner. Megan Taylor strengthened her case for consideration as well.
