  1. http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/NCAA-and-Florida-Gators-investigating-violation-allegations-071910 The sad part is that IF this happened, it is another case of an agent preying on a young man and possibly costing an entire university and the current players a potential probation or loss of games.
  2. Interesting quote from the owner: If this guy at 5'8" & 215 started the fight as some have alleged, he was either drunk or stupid IMHO. But for 6 or 7 guys to beat him and kick him while he was down, that's just pitiful.
  3. Same here. I was very pleased with the burger I got there. I loved it.
  4. Nothing shocks me from Jesse's mouth. He does not speak for most of the African Americans I know, but will always get the attention. The bottom line is: 1. Lebron handled the change in the wrong way by not telling the Cavs first. The fundraising idea was a good one, but I thought he handled it like a 25 year old and it has damaged his image. At least tell your team of 7 years you are going another direction first. I thought it was absolutely the wrong way to handle the situation. It was his choice, and all in all, I think a good one considering who he will be playing with, but he went about the wrong way. It was bad. 2. As bad as Lebron handled it, Gilbert looks even worse. He acted like a spurned school boy who just found out his girlfriend is dating somebody else. I am waiting for him to threaten to kick Pat Riley's butt for cuckolding him. He showed absolutely no class or restraint in his comments. If Lebron was such a quitter, loser and one who they had to cover for all these 7 years, then why did Gilbert offer him the max contract to stay? 3. Jesse Jackson equating it to 'slavery' is a joke. Slavery was a horrible part of our countries past and to equate this situation, which is a multi million dollar 25 year old kid who had options, either of which payed him millions to play basketball, would be laughable if it weren't so sad. I am pretty sure that slaves did not have these options, ... but then again, maybe I just read my history books wrong.
  5. Year 2 under Coach Welch should show some improvement. He instilled discipline last year and went to something SL was not used to, a running attack. The defense was improved. The key is for the line to really step up and find a 3rd option after Vaughn and Miller, who will carry the load on offense. I have heard that Vaughn is moving to QB and SL could run more of an option attack this fall. That could be interesting to watch.
  6. See Jeff Shepherd's take on the draft and what it means for UK basketball.
  7. I saw this movie on campus my freshman or sophomore year at Hanover. I was blown away. GREAT movie!
  8. Joker has to do what he believes is best for the team. Every move he has made in not bringing someone back has been when he already had a replacement ready to step in. I am betting that is the case now and may have just taken longer to find someone that he wanted. Good luck to Coach Ortmayer. He has had a long career, much of which was in the NFL and if he chooses to retire, I hope he enjoys it. He was a part of the rebuilding of the UK football program and I appreciate his efforts.
  9. :thumb: Amen. My understanding is that they are making it tougher and tougher for the schools to get the funding they need to operate. I could be wrong, but I understand that the problems really stem from Frankfort.
  10. I am on Verizon (after they bought Cellular One) and I must say the service is second to none. I drive back and forth everyday from London to Jackson County and nobody used to get service for 80% of that trip. Now, I have service in places I never got service before. I am thrilled with the coverage I get. I hope they get the Iphone because my contract is up next summer and would love one, .... but I won't give up the tremendous reception I get with Verizon for it. My daughter is on AT&T and has an Iphone. Loves the phone but wants to switch to Verizon as she loses coverage constantly on AT&T.
  11. You don't see many of those Gretsch's around like that anymore. I just put some new pickups in my ESP. A Mo Joe in the bridge and an Air Norton in the neck. They really bring the tone out in the guitar better than the stock ESP pickups, ... which weren't bad, but these are much better!
  12. Geddy Lee always amazed me with his ability to sing and play the bass, especially the way he plays. Very impressive indeed and an excellent example of the challenges of playing in a 3 piece band and being effective. I played in a 3 piece for years and had to sing lead. The best thing that ever happened was bringing in a lead singer. It freed me up for focusing on the guitar and the lead vocals got MUCH better when I was singing backup!!
  13. Vito 'Babe' Parilli Dermontti Dawson Art Still Tim Couch There are many others worth discussing, but these would be the 4 for me.
  14. If you are a UK football fan then there certainly is. If you aren't, why would you care?
  15. I have all the respect in the world for Coach Hilton and the Bobcats football program. But many mountain teams are feeling the pinch of cutbacks in spending. If they money isn't there, it isn't there. And the boosters cannot pay the assistant coaches. 3-4 assistant coaches is very slim, especially for a program like Bell that has competed at such a high level for so long.
  16. Kiss 'Sonic Boom'. Not my favorite Kiss album, but it does have more of the feel of the earlier Kiss records than anything they have done in several years.
  17. It does open up more opportunities for musical creativity by adding a 4th member and does take some of the load off the 'main man' so to speak. It also can give a much fuller sound live adding another guitarist or even a keyboard player. Even Van Halen (while technically a 3 piece with a frontman with DLR) took a keyboard player on tour who played many of the keyboard parts off stage.
  18. I actually can't wait to get Rush: Beyond the lighted stage on DVD tonight (I think today is the official DVD release date). I missed it on VH1 and those I talked to loved it. I still pull out Rush 2112 about 3-4 times per year and listen to it from beginning to end. I remember sitting with my guitar playing along with the entire album when I was a teenager. They are one of my favorite bands, much less 3 piece. I really liked that the record company didn't want any more long drawn out songs before 2112 and their response was a true masterpiece with one song lasting an entire album side. It broke down the barriers and Rush sold a TON of albums. The record company never questioned their vision again.
  19. They started as a 3 piece, but later on, morphed into a 4 piece band.
  20. This is a big shocker to me. Especially the timing of it. Rains has built a powerhouse program at LCA and when he does decide to get back into coaching, I am sure he will have no problem finding a job.
  21. Thanks for the post Dolamite!! Loved it!!
