  1. If all it would take to keep Lebron in Cleveland would be to trade West, ... the deal would be done so quickly that it would make West's head spin.
  2. http://thetimestribune.com/sports/x1414103804/Queen-of-Swing Emily Gaines breaks another state record. She now owns the records for: most hits career, most doubles season/career, most games consecutive with a hite (44 and counting), etc. On another local note, Megan Taylor also pitched another no hitter (only 1 hit batsmen away from her 4th perfect game this season). I know I am biased, but I would certainly love to see one of these young seniors win Miss Softball this year. They are very deserving candidates.
  3. All coaches (Cal included) try to place doubt about other programs to help bolster their argument. However, these rumors come from the press, the NBA 'experts', and their knowledge of Lebron's relationship with Cal (which is no secret). Can't blame this one on the arch rivals, but of course they will use it in the recruiting battle,... nothing new here. As far as Lebron and Jordan, ... MJ has 6 titles. Probably would have had more had he not taken that baseball vacation. But Lebron is far beyond being just a 'good' player. He is arguably the best player in the game right now. Is he Jordan, arguably the best of all time? Nope. But then again, who is? However, I have never seen a player of Lebron's size have the strength & quickness that he possesses. He is a 2 time MVP for a reason, and not it's not because he just a 'good' player. Hey look, I am a HUGE UK fan, ... but to think that coaching Lebron on a team with the potential to win a title is a step down from UK is a bit much.
  4. How many people on here have actually read the new law from beginning to end? Are we just taking the media's short short version and running with it? Are we like AG Holder who stated he was opposed to the law, then admitted that he hadn't actually read it.
  5. My son worked in a halfway house for troubled teens. They were taught how to restrain out of control teens, not to drag a kid out in the floor, and 'knuckle up' and beat them. What this 'teacher' did was just unbelievable. I am just stunned. Why is this 'teacher' not in jail?
  6. Trying to deport God from our country Career partisan politicians Greed Some lawyers
  7. I agree. When teams like UK, Duke, Kansas, UNC, etc are solid, it adds more intrigue. The whole 'little guy vs big guy' story plays a long way in sports.
  8. http://www.sentinel-echo.com/localsports/x334288769/The-New-Hit-Queen Gaines is only 2 games away from tying the state record for consecutive games with a hit. Interesting sidenote, when she broke the state record for career hits, she passed former North Laurel standout (and current assistant coach) Ali Ray, .. who also played at UK where Gaines has signed. At least they are keeping the record in the same county!!!
  9. Who you got? For me, I will look at 2 local candidates. Emily Gaines - South Laurel - just set new state records for hits and doubles, UK signee, has hit in 41 consecutive games, impressive talent and great kid. Megan Taylor - North Laurel - Kentucky Gatorade POY for 2009, has 3 perfect games, .. this season (2 in a row), impressive player and great kid.
  10. I agree. If I took over a team and Rondo was already there, he would be my PG without a doubt. No need in trading for or drafting another PG when you have one of the best in the league right there. He would be on my short list if I didn't have that franchise type PG.
  11. For right now, Nash is about as good as it gets. But, given a 5-7 year time frame, I would surprised to see him in the league playing at the same level. For 1-2 years, give me Nash and his experience. But not long term at this stage of his career.
  12. :thumb: That's exactly why I don't think he leaves UK for da Bulls.
  13. Can't list them all on here or in a PM, but here are a few. 1. He has a sweet deal at SL. Isn't in the classroom, makes good money, has been there a long time. It would take a pretty sweet deal for him to leave and I am not sure Clay could/would give that to him. 2. He defines the South Laurel program having been the only coach at SL. He was the coach at Laurel County before it became SL, but since it became SL in 1992, he has been living in noone's shadow. Granted that Laurel Co did win the 1981 state title, the full credit for that was not given to Coach Broughton, but Paul Andrews, Joe Karr and a stellar cast of solid players around them. Not too many years later, Broughton moved on and away from Laurel County. Bobby Keith is still there and casts a long shadow in Clay County. A coach who has done what Wright has done would probably not want to step out of his own shadow into someone elses. Real or not, that is the perception from many. Granted, it would not shock me to see Coach Wright leave after this past season. He loses a lot of talent, will have a young team next year, his son Eric graduated and a change would not be totally unexpected. IF he leaves (I am not saying it will happen), I just don't see it being Clay County.
  14. I agree. While I like all of them, I see Rose becoming the premiere PG in the NBA over the next 2-3 seasons.
  15. I heard that as well. Cleveland would be unlikely to do a sign and trade, so Lebron would probably have to be willing to walk away from around $30 million that he could only get if he stayed with the Cavs or if they worked a sign and trade deal. But if Lebron wants to win a title, Chicago has a better supporting cast then Cleveland right now. I just don't think that Cal walks after just 1 season.
  16. It may have been when he was an assistant at Corbin. Not 12th region, but played a lot of those teams in the area.
  17. I don't like to say there is no chance, but I think the chance is extremely low. Most likely, somewhere between slim and none, .... but that doesn't completely rule out the possibility. I just don't see it happening.
  18. While I would not be shocked to see Wright leave SL, I would be surprised if it were to Clay County for various reasons.
