  1. Congrats to Coach Parkey and the Rockastle Football Program. I am impressed with the Rockcastle administration for realizing that in this case, continuity is very important, and the importance of not wasting any time in naming a successor.
  2. What Southern needs is someone without an agenda. Someone who knows the program from it's beginning. Someone who loves the School, the Program and the Community. Someone who will work with the other coaches in the school to make sure that the best in the school are representing the school in every sport that they choose to participate in. Someone who will not turn this into a political race, but do what ever is needed to be the caretaker of the Program, and with time and effort turn the Program into what it was intended to be when the school opened.
  3. Who ever recruits NKY from Union should get a raise. With the upgrade in facilities that has gone on there and now getting these kind of quality kids in state, that is a good sign for the Bulldogs.
  4. In my honest opinion, as long as Coach Kidd is alive and kickin',there is no way Eastern hires anyone that does not have VERY strong EKU ties. If they get Coach Hood it would be a steal, however, you might find yourself in the same spot again in a few years. Larry Marmie would be another steal but may be hard to pull him from the League.
  5. I can understand your situation and you make great points, but the flip side of that coin is the Honesty that Coach French has shown. Being put in a very awkward situation in being approached by the Advocate Messenger, I believe he chose to honestly answer the questions and not leave anything for gossip. At least he is open with everyone, which in my dealings with Coach French, completely matches his character. Any coach who is at one school and is approached about or chooses to go after a job at another school runs the risk of making people at the current school upset. Some choose to hide it when approached, others choose to just be honest. I admire Coach French for being placed in a potentially uncomfortable situation and choosing to be honest about the deal.
  6. In referring to Richmond Madison, I am assuming you mean Madison Central. QB Chaz Hope was #15, and DB/RB Ricky Rhodes was #5. Thanks for recognizing these kids, they were 2 solid seniors.
  7. He took a good clean shot on a QB Draw. Unconfirmed report said a possible separated shoulder left (none throwing) shoulder. He's a very good player and wish him the best in his recovery. Was very impressed with the backup QB who took over. He did a very nice job of handling the offense in a tough situation.
  8. I take exception to that blanket statement. As has been being discussed in this thread, it is easy to come onto an internet board under an assumed name and attack coaching staffs. It does not matter if you are talking about PLD's Staff, Madison Central's staff or any other school in the state. You have the right express your opinion on this board, considering you paid your subscription fee the same as I did, however, the problem I have had with reading threads / posts for the past 2 years, particularly concerning PLD and Madison Central, is that people are very quick to criticize the coaching when things go bad, and very reluctant to say hardly anything postive when things go well. Point being, the players read this stuff probably as much or more than anyone else. Are you helping or hurting the team you claim to support by expressing negative views and rarely if ever expressing positive views? I say congats to Dunbar on a good game. They played well, protected the ball for the most part and did what they had to do to put their kids in position to win the game. I hope both programs get on a roll and end up meeting in the Region Finals.
  9. That would make a lot more sense for many reasons than the original proposed district. Can you imagine making the trip from Harlan to Shelby Co. on a School Bus?....Geez..
  10. I thought that this was the case, but as was pointed out.... It is a little interesting to put them in 3A for a year. Probably is the best situation overall for everyone considering contracts were signed on a two year basis in most cases. They should be strong in 3A assuming the kids pull together and make the most out of building the team. A couple questions though, Would the school then be placed in 5A or 6A for the 2009 alignment? What are the enrollment projections?
  11. I believe the original projection made by the KHSAA prior to this years alignment had Harlan County in 6A. It would have been a district consisting of Harlan County, Shelby County, Madison Central, Scott County and George Rogers Clark. I know there was some questions about what the enrollment of the school would actually be when the doors open. But if memory serves me correctly, this was the original projection.
  12. The Catholics haven't faced this much adversity since Martin Luther....
  13. Had a feeling the ADs would be on a mission this week. Sounds like it was a great game.
  14. You are right, District 5 has 5 teams right now and District 6 has the 4 of you. That would probably make it the most logical place. One interesting thing to watch would be that District 7 will lose Cumberland and Evarts with the opening of Harlan Central, presumably leaving that as a 4 team district under the 09 alignment. That could play into the distribution of teams in South Central and South Eastern part of the state.
  15. They will definitely be in 1A if/when they ever get back into district. It will be interesting to see what the KHSAA decides to do with them. They could move them north with LCA, Paris etc or south with the district they should have been in this year. I would imagine it could also have to do with #'s at Lynn Camp. I would think you all would be close to the border with 2A, is that accurate?
  16. 2009 Football season. I still personally think it was a bad move dropping out of district play in the first place.
  17. The Register had an actual story with interviews of Berea's coach and a player. There was no box score, but the coach was talking about continuing a new philosophy of winning at Berea.
  18. According to Sunday's edition of the Richmond Register, Berea won the game 48-12.
  19. No, Tyler Mays is #10. Isaiah Kavanaugh is #3 and Ricky Rhodes is #5. Great scrimmage. Both teams seemed to get some good work in.
  20. The reason that they have not hired a coach is NOT because they have not had qualified applicants or because no one has expressed real interest in the job. There have been other school systems just as small and just as $$$ strapped that have already hired. Berea was one of the very first jobs posted this off season and they will be the very last to make a hire. What kind of statement does that make to the community and the kids? I guess everyone has to form their own opinions.
  21. I'm not sure it will hurt as bad as one might think. Especially if Administrators will allow the new Coach(es) to have a major say in the design and implementation of the new facilities. It might even be a selling point....
  22. I'm pretty sure the Seattle Seahawks have been doing this for a while too. Obviously not as long as A&M but I'm pretty sure they make a real big deal out of raising a "12th Man" flag at the beginning of games. Copyrighting catch-phrases.... What a great way to make $$$. I wonder if those guys on that Sonic commercial have copyrighted "That's sooo Gravy" yet?
  23. Interest in the position is not the reason that Berea has not made a move yet. Not sure why they have not made a move yet....
  24. No, They will not be able to rejoin district play until the 2009 Season. This after they informed KHSAA back in January that they would not participate in district play for the upcoming season.
