Bracken County Meet the Coach Night
Forgive me for not knowing, but who got this job?

What schools are still looking for a coach?
I agree, there must be a reason that this has been left unofficial.

What schools are still looking for a coach?
Should be what? Should be making their decision official?

What's going on at West Jessamine?
I was under the impression that the off season program was going pretty well prior to the hiring. It just does not make a lot of sense to tear down the work that was being done and not immediately step in and start your own building process. What's the deal? Is this rumor or fact? For that matter, has the new coach ever been officially announced?

Board of Education making Middlesboro play Bell County!!
I understand that and as long as both sides work together, they will easily be able to work something out. I guess what I was meaning is, If I were head coach of team A, and team B dropped my team off their schedule and I had to go out and sign a contract with another team, THEN, team B's BOE mandated that we play again, It would be a legitimate concern for my school as to why we should pay our way out of a contract that we should not have had to sign to begin with. I have absolutely no dog in this fight other than pure observation. But I do know that $$$$ talks and like you said, the gate from that game would probably override any cost to the respective teams buying out of contracts.

Board of Education making Middlesboro play Bell County!!
If the BOE is "demanding" them to make space on the schedule, I would assume that they would have to buy their way out of a contract, (sounds like you Lynn Camp) but that still might not solve the problem because Bell Co. may have a game scheduled as well. What would the Middlesboro BOE do, buy Bell Co out of their contract too? I am all for rivalry games and believe that tradition rich series such as this are vital to KY HS football, but I think I have a problem with the BOE telling the HC, especially someone as established as Coach Roark, that he is mandated to get out of one game to play another. This could be a tough situation for every one involved if not handled carefully.

1,000 Yard Club
It is a shame to say this, but a 1000 yard season really isn't that big a deal anymore. It is certainly a milestone, but not unattainable, especially if a runningback is continuously fed the football. Unfortunately you also have to take into account how the stats were arrived at. There are so many ways that schools take stats that it is easy to "massage" the actual statistics.

State Championship without D-1 players.
I don't think that Bourbon Co. had any D-1's on that '97 team, not sure if they had any 1-AA's for that matter. A shame that they have fallen on such hard times.................

Dunbar vs. Montgomery Bell Academy
Big game, should be a nice draw. What does MBA bring back next year?

What schools are still looking for a coach?
I believe that most school systems policy requires the head coach of "major" sports to be a certified teacher. I do not know of many exceptions, there may be some... You are right though, it just would not make sense for the temporary fix. Plus so many problems can arise with not having the head coach in the school on a daily basis, not to mention if that person was not a certified teacher.

KHSAA finals vs UofL/UConn game

KHSAA finals vs UofL/UConn game
In know what you are saying rockmom, but I am looking at a four-day weekend vs. a two day weekend :ylsuper: Plus I like to get home so I can be with my family on Sunday before going back to work. Those are my selfish reasons..........

KHSAA finals vs UofL/UConn game
How about 1 game on Thursday 30th and 3 on Friday 1st? Moving the games to the 8th and 9th would be interesting giving the teams an off week in between, lots of things can happen in a two week layoff, some good... some maybe not so good.

Bourbon County ?
I agree completely. That is exactly what I was referring to. The school system must show that they are serious about making things right. This would be a "risky" situation for an established head coach, and as hard as it is to get head coach opportunities, a young or aspiring head coach would have to be careful with it as well.

Bourbon County ?
Any idea who these brave souls might be? "The good thing about the bourbon job is that you can only go up. There is no chance of going down any farther."- oldonetech This might be true, but then again, without the proper support in place, is there any chance for improvement? NO ONE would want to take a job that is in this kind of shape and just stay the same.

Bourbon Co is still open.

Baseball vs Spring Football Practice
Thanks for rubbing it in. Those baseball and basketball guys don't want Fat Kids like me anyway....
-
Do you know of anyone who has Ran, Threw and Caught a TD in a single game?
I believe Andrew Mathis of Madison Central vs. Bryan Station in 2004, returned a KO for TD, threw for 1TD, and ran for 2TD's. Did not have TD recieving in that game though.

Baseball vs Spring Football Practice
Absolutely. :thumb: Wish I had been talented enough to play all 3 throughout HS.

I agree with STRIKE3 on the playing the sport that is in season, but I don't think that baseball is left out of the equation as far as the "year around" part goes. With summer leagues (read AAU/like Basketball) and the increasing number of teams having "fall ball", as well as the number of camps and clinics and batting cages around, baseball coaches have at the very least an "equal opportunity" to have their kids working year around. The key is for the coaches to work TOGETHER and schedule so the kids can participate if they are talented enough to do so, but the athlete should go into this understanding full well the amount of WORK that he is going to have to put in to prepare properly for each sport. This should not be a surprise to the athlete or the coach for that matter. The opportunity to compete at a high level is the best thing that a HS kid can do to prepare himself for athletics. - Baseball vs Spring Football Practice
