  1. Chuck Smith! HE's a BAAAD.... HUSH YOUR MOUTH! Just talking about Chuck.
  2. Chuck Smith.... The Most Interesting Coach In the World....
  3. That fast break offense stuff is pretty cool until someone throws a pick on the 1st or 2nd play of the game and their offense doesn't see the field again for the remainder of the 1st quarter...
  4. My mistake. Must be an error on the KHSAA page for 2009. There was one listed, but then when I looked, lots of others had tie listed as well. There was no indication of a tie on the actual game listing. 9-4 record that year.
  5. A 36-14-1 record over last 4 years & those 2 1st rd exits mentioned were the first 2 seasons under Clevenger. That's not too bad considering the competition at the 6A level.
  6. The Times Tribune sent out a Tweet last night that South Laurel would name their new Football Coach today. Anyone have any further information?
  7. Hard to see but going with 1996 or 1997
  8. This is PURELY speculation but I wondered if the name Mark Peach would come up for the Danville job?
  9. The Fayette County Athletics Policy Manual can be found at: http://www.fcps.net/media/24667/hs%20guidelines.pdf View page 10, #16 for more information regarding the "2 Hour Rule" and other limitations of Practice.
  10. If it was an agreed upon deal as is suggested here, wouldn't Breathitt show their hand defensively as to how they might want to adjust? I don't doubt any of this, but there are holes in both sides of the argument. Looks like Belfry must've paid close attention to what the saw on that film...
  11. The difference here as compared to the Harlan Co & Mercer Co situations is that in each of those cases schools were closed in consolidation. Here you have a brand new school added to the mix & Nelson Co HS numbers for classification were not known officially until late in the process.
  12. Has Coach Yeast moved on from Bryan Station? Heard yesterday on radio that he was going to Tiffin College?
  13. They played Belfry in the 1st round of the playoffs. Unavoidable there, but not sure about Lawrence.
  14. Would it be safe to say that interviews are complete & they are prepared to offer someone else if Graham turns them down?
  15. Would be interesting to hear a name attached to this candidate from Texas as it seems nearly every job open in the state someone from Texas has applied for it. Also, there are many mistakes made in coaching hires, but hiring Kenny Turner would not be a mistake, particularly in NKY.
  16. Congrats to a fine young man and UC is getting a solid play maker.
  17. Don't be so quick to throw that 0-9 record out there as a reason against Coach Turner. If you are in the coaching and teaching profession you know that there are a lot of things that impact the outcome of a season. Further if you want to look at his record, you might want to check out the 51-21 record that he produced prior to this season, and the fact that his 6 playoff wins are more than any other coach at Madison Central. Bryan Station would be getting an excellent coach but more importantly a fine man to lead their program if they hire Coach Turner.
  18. For the record during the 7 season tenure of the previous coaching staff there were 22 young men who continued their playing careers. This is not counting several others who had opportunity. Many of the coaches that cycled through that staff over the last several years had college playing experience. At least 2 of the coaches had coached at the 1-AA level. "Marketing Athletes" is a small but important part of the broader goal for high school coaches, which is developing young men who have the character and ability to successfully move on to college or the work force whether or not they decide to continue to play the game.
  19. This kid can definitely play. Nice list of early offers. Good luck. (Go Blue!)
  20. It seems to me that this issue just puts too much on the officials and creates more situations where the official can be questioned for why they make a certain determination and why they don't make another. This rule makes that even more difficult because it states that there is to be no one in the box area while the ball is live. How are officials supposed to be watching all that is happening ON THE FIELD, which should be their main concern to Officiate the GAME, and still police the sideline as well. I think we all can completely understand if a coach is on the field, no matter who that coach is, they should move back and be on the sideline area. However, that sideline area should be reserved for Coaches, Players and Team Personel and they should be allowed to do their jobs without intrusion. Sideline management should be left up to the Coaching Staff and the School Administration, not further burdening the Officiating Crew with sideline supervision duties.:irked:
  21. There's a young man named Larry Warford at Madison Central who has already committed to the University of Kentucky, I would think he deserves a mention.
  22. There are many instances where a kid was living with mother/father/family in one county and moves in with father/mother/family in another county and is ruled ineligible. There are many complications that make moves like this difficult situations for everyone involved; the kid, the school the kid is leaving and the school the kid is trying to go to. Proving that the move was not for "Athletic Purposes" is difficult. Sometimes it is harder to prove the truth that to disprove false accusations.
  23. Earl Browning, Director of the Nike Clinic stated before Coach Meyer spoke that over 1200 coaches were in attendance representing 14 states... As with any profession, continuos improvement is vital in becoming (or staying) successful. I believe it was Coach Eddie Robinson that once said something to the effect of, "When a Coach stops learning about his profession, he should step aside or retire." (Paraphased)
