Danville 2013

Featured Replies

What does Danville need to do to improve in 2013? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

New Coach and New Attitude, probably favorite for the district and region...right?

Unsure. Coach Clevenger is working on getting people to buy in. Including the players. Been a tough road so far but I don't expect that to last. He has a ton of support.

I foresee his time at Danville turning ugly in the next two to three years. I just don't know if the kids will ever fully buy in to what he wants to do.

What is he wanting to do? New offense and defense or just a new tougher attitude that the kids aren't buying into.

If that happens then say goodbye to the Danville football program for eternity.

Tougher attitude and accountability. Culture shock is going on right now. I just hope he doesn't regret coming home. The Danville program NEEDS Clay Clevenger if they plan to return to glory.

Is the Danville staff finalized yet and if so, who is on staff and what are the roles. In this day, a Head Coach has to have a solid staff around him if the program is going to succeed. The days of "a staff of one" are over.

That is what I am hearing. The same kind of thing happened when Tom Duffy came to Danville. I still think he is part of the reason Danville had their big run. He came in with a tough mind set and demanded comiting to the program or stay at home.

Coach Clevenger is doing a great job. He is changing the atmosphere at danville again. He has brought a tough mindset back to danville and some of the players are having trouble buying into being comitted to doing work and doing the right thing. Hopefully he will be able to get more parents involved that will help him hold players accountable and that will make his job easier bc the parents will get the players to work. That being said even with the few numbers the guys who are there are flat out working hard and are going to be tough to handle next year. They have bought in whole heartedly.

That is good to hear. I look forward to seeing the attitudes at Danville change.

I'm not sure who else is on the staff. I don't know if he inherited the current staff or added his own touches to the staff.

I for personal reasons would like to see Danville be better, but not too much better...:bunny:

Is it just me or does it sound like Hall of Fame coach Sam Harp and the previous staff left the Ad's in poor shape?

Don't know how much was on Harp. Maybe, just don't know. But I know Danville for years won as much on athleticism as anything else. Didn't seem to have the same number of great athletes as in the past. Effort seemed to lack with some players especially when things went bad, that's on the coaches and players both.
