I would like to see Highlands schedule Bell Co. They seem to have had their problems in the past with the boys from Log Mtn. It is close to turkey day so I thought it was appropriate to throw Bell out there.

While I totally agree, it's hard to say anything negative toward this when we see large 6a schools schedule smaller division schools over the years to get a few wins. Great job for this program and its exactly what they need to inject some confidence and will hopefully be a solid building block for the future. Could be two good classes for Scott, They won the Freshman Bball last year and now the Freshman football. Looks like the Eagles may be building a very solid foundation in both sports.

I can see this is not going anywhere. First of all I never said I was trying to hurt your feelings. No, I haven't memorized their records nor the opponents, just wanted to get it right. I have probably been to more games than most and I can tell you a good number of their current players I know very well and hope for nothing but the best. So unfortunately, your theory is wrong. I have put many hours into that program. I just wanted to confirm the exact records and I knew I had always hoped they would play more of a true 4a or 6a schedule over the years vs. the weaker teams to get a few wins. That is why I did my research. I just don't think SK is ready to compare themselves with the best. In fact, I think we are all dumber for just having this conversation. Unless you look at it like most, and that is just for the fun of it. However, by your response I can tell you really believe SK is among the elite. By that fact alone all I have to do is let you dig your own hole.

Wow. Well you did force me to do some research and its clear to see what I'm talking about. If you are happy with 6-5 seasons then the mentality is clearly not yet playing for championships. It's hoping to have a winning season by virtue of beating up some smaller schools: 1998 - 5-5 (key wins Dayton & Scott) 99 - 3-7 00 - 6-4 01 - 5-6 02 - 3-7 03 - 1-9 04 - 2-8 05 - 6-5 The start of the Winning Streak! (key wins: Lloyd, HC, Scott) 06 - 6-4 Key wins (Lloyd, HC, Scott) 07 - 6-5 Key wins (Russell, HC, Scott) 08** 10-5 Lost in finals 48-0 09** 11-2 Lost to St X 34-48 My point being is there is no way we can argue against Highlands tradition or even compare until we have something to compare too. Saying our team next year will be great is a little ridiculous as I watched 1/2 the JV games this year and certainly didn't see the performance that makes me think we can repeat 08 - 2010. I hope the coach toughens the schedule and doesn't soften it too look good as they need to grow. No smoke and mirrors; just production on the field.

Let's get these kids to perform on the field before we annoint them. This is not a shot at the kid you mentioned but rather people on here talking up kids that haven't done anything yet. Kind of like SK's football team. A lot out here beating there chest but the team hasn't done anything yet. Two or three good years in about 50 doesn't make me want to stand up and beat my chest.

Sounds like they should have dominated the JV ranks this year. What did their record end up?

My question is why do some coaches do this if they know it can present a potential problem? May tell you a little bit about the coach. If you can't control them or they can't ignore the other teams taunts then the coaches should change their warm-up routine.

Bottom line, SK has not been in a position to challenge Highlands. They had a nice team the last two years but I don't think they would have given Highlands a game and the coaches no that. If you are a top tier program then you will take on top tier teams. I'm by no means a Highlands fan but I have to give credit where credit is due. They have taken on some big boys and continue to challenge themselves. SK is not even close to that level and its kind of funny that a lot of blow hearts even have people talking about it. Schedule the game and then I think SK will beg out again after 1 or 2 games.

I'm glad it worked out as well but man......... you have to come to the table with something other than the .000001 miles closer stuff. That is somewhat embarrassing to think we couldn't have provided better logic. Thank goodness the KHSAA understood the concept of keeping NK teams together.

Chambers is def. a solid player. I would like to see SK strengthen their schedule to match chambers up with some of the better talent around the state. I think that would go a long way for him to gain the respect he deserves.

A lot seem to be doubting Scott this year but I really believe they can be better than they were a year ago. They are very talented but have a few weaknesses they will have to overcome and keep their players elgible. Coach Carr will also bring his A game so this team will apparently surprise some posters on this site that have them listed below a top 5 team. There two guards are as good as any back court in the region and their big kid can really create some matchup issues for other teams; not to mention a very solid young nucleus. I'm also surprised Kellen Smith is not mentioned as some of the top players. I know there are some young kids coming up but they are not yet on Kellen's level and people keep mentioning them over Kellen. I would take him any day of the week and win a lot of games.

Actually I can name no fewer than 6 kids at SK in the 2013 class alone that live in Scott's school district. Some of the big reasons for them choosing to go to SK does revolve around the athletic facilities. I'm not sure of the Kenton Cnty School district policies but they def. have placed them at a competitive disadvantage. SK has adopted the South Kenton Youth football teams and the coaches have planted themselves heavily in Summit View for both Football and Basketball. This school is supposedly a split school but when kids are around certain coaches and play at SK's field and basketball in their gymnasium (keep in mind Scott doesn't have the practice gym Dixie and SK does) then that is what they become accustomed too. Guess what school they will choose?

Why are kids lining up to get into SK? I'm sorry but we had better humble ourselves and not buy into this line of thinking because we made it to one final and the playoffs now ..... what? for the 3rd time in school history? By the way, not to mention that in our current class system just about every school makes the playoff. Until we are true contenders year in and year out we shouldn't be buying into this kind of thinking. This current team is average at best and it isn't going to get better the next 2 years, just don't see the size or depth of talent needed to complete at the 6a level coming up.

Unfortunately, you have lost all credibility. I'm am also and SK fan and if I only listened to you without knowing myself I would have thought SK was the measuring stick for the 6A class this year and have dominated football for the past 50 years! I have to be honest, until our program actually starts hanging some banners and can make deep runs into the playoffs year after year then its hard to argue against some of these top programs. Therefore, its hard for me to list the entire team as the best when we just don't have the success on the field to back that claim up.

OK. Just sounded like it was a jab that it was a re-occurring theme like they consistently brought in players from Ohio. My bad for mis-reading. I just wasn't aware of many players that fit that discription. The kid is still on the team and can be a great ball player if he can get everything in order. I certainly hope he does because he can have a great future if he wants it. Hate seeing talented kids not taken advantage of god given talents.

Does Scott get a lot of Cincy transfers?

It is so strange to me how this thread seems to show the shortcomings of an older gym yet so many in Mason County feel that this is the 'only' venue that can hold a tournament.
