Anybody know what the league is looking like this year? Any frontrunners in either league, or is it wide open? Post your thoughts...

Two new teams this year, Ludlow and Tichenor.

The small school division has 10 teams with maybe NewCath the favorite.

CovCath 7th Grade may take a little time to gel, but could be a force late.

The big school division has 6 teams with CovCath 8th and Campbell County the favorite.

CovCath 8th Graders were runnerups last year in the small school.

They have added a couple good additions and the front four have added size.

If they play with the same passion as last year, they could be hard to beat.

They have their first scrimmage Saturday at Summit View

Campbell County should be strong again this year. The 7th grade team last year was good and there were a few of them that started on the 8th grade team.

Can Ludlow compete with the likes of newcath, covcath, walton, and I believe brossart who were all in the playoffs last year? Have their kids even played together before? What about tichenor? I don't really see ludlow being a force in the small school division this year... newcath will probably be at the top w/ covcath and I would say walton (from what I saw last year) would be the top three.. brossart close to walton...

What time is the scrimmage on Saturday? Are there more teams that are going to be there?

CovCath, Summit View, Woodland, Grant Co. I know for sure.

Round Robin type format starting at 10.

Then the next week four games at CovCath, with CovCath vs LexCath 7th graders at 2 followed by the 8th Graders at 3:30

The next 2 games I have to check on, and post later

Brossart, Owen Co, Pendleton Co, and Raceland are playing in an afternoon session at Summit View I think as well.

Ludlow's core group won the NKYFL Super Bowl 2 years ago. Nice combo of size and speed.

Results from Saturdays Summit Veiw scrimmage.

CovCath 7th grade just man handled the other 7th grade teams.

I do not believe they gave up a score.

They have two very good Quarterbacks and Running backs.

On the 8th grade side.

Grant Co. went 4-0 beating CovCath (2-2) twice.

CovCath did not look good on offense.

The starts only played about half the plays.

The defense play ok only giving up 3 or 4 scores, again the starters play less than half the downs.

CovCath had to go double overtime with Woodland to get into the finals with Grant, but the starters did not play until the overtime.

In the finals Grant won 9-6.

Grant scored on the 11th play(10 play format) as CovCath had stop them 3 times inside the 5.

CovCath scored on their 3 or 4th play, bot threw an interception on the 9th play.

Both Woodland and Grant had nice size.

This was not a good format for CovCath. with only 40 offensive and defensive plays, and playing 46 kids.

The other teams had between 15-20 kids, so the kids could get into the flow of the game.

Also many people believe that CovCath is playing two 8th grade teams in the league.

CovCath plays an all 7th grade team in the small school division and a all 8th grade team in the large.

The 8th grader who played on Saturday are the same kids who lost in the small school championship last year.

CovCath play LexCath next Saturday at CovCath.

I'm glad to hear Ludlow came on board with the middle school programs. I'd assume it's a death knell for senior division of Ludlow's NKYFL team though?

The CovCath vs LexCath games have been moved to 9:00 & 10:30

7th Grade Middle School Game

CovCath 27 LexCath 13

Best player on the field was #1 (Jones?) for LexCath, simply an amazing player!

8th Grade Middle School Game

LexCath 7 CovCath 0

Game was stopped due to the heat index of over 104 on the field. The size difference between the LexCath kids and the CovCath kids was amazing. LexCath had some kids on their team as big as some Varsity Football players I watched play last night at Cooper!

Best player on the field #11 (Hatton?) LexCath, huge for an 8th grader (6'4") with speed to burn.
