Tichenor beat NCC last week. Not sure of a score though.

Someone told me there were some issues at this game. Anyone have any details? Feel free to PM me.

Walton Verona beat CovCath's 7th grade 19-18 on a last second touchdown. The Colonels coach should take 100% of the responsibility for the loss. The calls made in the last two minutes were the opposite of what a coach trying to win a game should call. The Colonels had the ball first and ten around the Walton 25 with Two minutes to go, up by 5. The first play, they had an eight yard run making it 2nd and two. So On second and two, the Colonels come out lined up like the new York Jets and try to pass?!?! The QB ended up getting sacked 11 yards back because they only had 5 man protection and Walton brought atleast 7. So the next play, they run a pass which was incomplete which brought up 4th and about 15. Instead of trying to pin them deep with a punt, we ran a rinky dink fake punt and lost two yards. Turn over on downs with about 1 minute left and Walton goes down the feild on two long passes with no timeouts and get down to the Colonels two yard line. Now, at this point the clock was running down and Walton was able to spike it with two seconds on the clock. At this point both coaching staffs made huge mistakes. Walton was unorganized and had to have been within milli seconds of getting a delay of game. CovCath's coaches decided to bail them out and call a timeout? See what I don't understand is why they wouldn't have called a timeout right when they spiked it. Anyways, give the RB for walton credit, he smashed his way in for the touchdown with time running out to give the young bearcats the win. Another thing, I don't like switching in and out Offensive linemen like CovCath's coach did. You need to stick with the BEST five and sick with them. I thought #56 looked like the only one with any real killer instinct and he was taken in and out throughout the whole game. It throws off chemistry. Anyways thats just my two cents, i'll go home now.

Final in triple overtime. Good game, both teams meet again next week in the playoffs.

Must be nice for Walton to make it to the playoffs without the coach that put in ALOT of the work for the first 7 weeks of the season. Was told Walton let him go after 3 years in the program including helping start the high school team for no particular reason. Mainly b/c he was young and kinda arrogant.. Isnt that what you want from a coach? Headstrong and ready to win?!? This was the coach some of the people in the Bellevue vs. Walton HS thread were talking about when they discussed the JV team beating Bellevue three times in the same season, he was calling the offense for the JV that year and went 7-1 sweeping the 1A district (minus Beechwood). Not sure why you wouldnt want to keep a young guy like this in the program... Anyway, congrats to Walton on getting to play a home playoff game this year, which I also found out was the previous coaches doing over the offseason.. Look at the record- first year in NKYMSFL walton goes to playoffs over teams who had been playing football a lot longer than they were (newport, holy cross) also beating teams they should have in brossart & sharp, this year loses back to back games against the two best teams in the small school division (NCC & Newport) and all of the sudden they let him go? Seems like a sham to me.... I hope he gets back on his feet and continues to coach, seemed like a really nice guy who is very knowledgeable about football... Should be some good games this upcoming weekend, look forward to seeing the results from round 1... Sounds to me like NCC could very possibly repeat this year after winning it all last year... ENJOY THE WONDERFUL COLD FALL WEATHER!!! ITS FINALLY HERE!!!

Campbell County beat Turkeyfoot 14-0. Time for the playoffs. The matchup next week of Turkeyfoot vs CovCath should be a great one.

CovCath 8th 32 Woodland 12

CovCath also won the coin flip withTurkeyfoot to be the No1 seed in the north.

CovCath win play Twenhofel in the first round next week.

Tichenor beat Walton 19-12 in the 1st round of the playoffs. NewCath and Newport played in the night cap but, I'm not sure who won.

Heard Ncc won 9-8. Turkeyfoot crushed Campbell Co

On a different note, Campbell County has been very successful over the last few years in this league. However, it has not transferred into high school success. Any ideas?

Is it the influx of NKYFL league players into the other schools?

Don't the other 6A schools have more than one middle school that ultimately feed up to the high school? That could explain a lot when they start merging teams together.

Simon Kenton is the only High School that has 2 middle schools in the conference. Twenhofel, and Summit View (which feeds mostly SK and a few kids go to Dixie)

This is going to be a long post so let me start off by saying congrats to the NCC players. They played hard and played well, hats off to them. One of their players got his bell rung really hard on a punt return and hopefully he is ok and is able to play next week.

Ok now on to the real issue. The league directors should be embarrased with themselves and Im not sure how the cowardly coaching staff at Newcath could sleep last night after the crap that they pulled. In the league at the beginning of the year each team is supposed to submit the offense that they run and the base defense along with the short yardage defense that they are going to run so each team has a little bit of a scouting report on the teams that they play. Newport has played a 4-4 base defense all year long and 6-2 in short yardage situations. The AD sent that to the league before the season started (she has emails to prove it) and played those defenses all year long including last week against NCC and there was no complaints at all.

So last night after Newport shuts down the NCC offense on the first two possessions, the newcath coaching staff cried to one of the league directors that they were not playing the defense that they submitted. The league director at the game pulls out some paper showing that Newport runs a 3-4 defense when in fact they never have ran that and never even practiced it. So on NCC's 3rd possession of the game NMS had to call timeout and the coaches had to walk out there and set them up in a 3-4 since the kids had no idea what to do in it. NCC goes on to get a td on that same possession of course and NMS stayed in the 3-4 the remainder of the game. Newport went into every game blind this season and had no scouting report on the actual teams that they played. Just the big schools that arent even on the schedule.

This is in no way sour grapes over the outcome of the game, this post was coming regardless of who won or lost. NCC won a great game last week fair and square and there were no complaints from NMS. This was a very cowardly move by the breds coaching staff to go all of last week with out saying a word and even the first two drives last night before doing this and the league directors should be ashamed that they let this go on.

Play Turkeyfoot in the rubber match for the championship.

NKMSFBL RULES FOR DEFENSE:

7. Defenses to run by a team must be declared prior to the season and remain

unchanged for the course of the season with no defense having more than six (6) down

linemen on the line of scrimmage. An exception to this is on situations of 4th down and short

yardage (2 yards or less) or goal line when a team may go to a goal line front of no more than

six (6) down linemen on the line of scrimmage. Defensive lineman must be within 1 yard of the line of scrimmage and no further than 2 yards outside of the Tight End or Offensive Tackle, whichever one is furthest from the ball.

8. No blitzing, twisting, or stacking on defense. Linebacker/Defensive Backs must be a

minimum of 3 yard of the line of scrimmage (not moving toward it) when the ball is

snapped.

Rules are rules, they are meant to be followed. No sour grapes or anything...but rule 8 was thrown out the window last week by Newport and on Saturday evening. The LB's & DB's were packed in the box at least 3 out of 4 downs at most 3 yards off the ball.... Both games were very good and the kids played very hard on both sides of the ball. You hate to see either team lose! Newport has a very talented group of players and the team is much improved from last year. Good luck to the Breds on Saturday!

So what are they trying to accomplish with those types of rules? I'm curious. NKYFL you can blitz at will and/or adjust however you deem necessary week in and week out. When these kids move to freshman and high school ball guess what? Teams are gonna blitz and adjust defensively each week to the offense they are facing to try to stop it. IMO this rule is not developing the kids in any shape or form it's only just delaying the inevitable. Don't most these kids come from Youth leagues anyways? I understand a rule is rule and it should be followed but this is one that needs to be removed going forward.
