  1. Anyone able to get the live video stream to work?
  2. In 2005 Warren East beat BG for the JV SKY Conference Championship...those JV East kids would go on to go 10-2 and then 11-3 their next two years at the Varsity level and were 3 points from playing for a State Championship in 2007. In those same two years, that group went 0-3 against BG by a combined score of 124-13 in Varsity action...I wouldn't read too much into lower level scores...
  3. Am I the only one who thinks that BG has already seen SIGNIFICANTLY better defensive personnel when they scrimmaged Manual? ...that said, I will concede that X's defense is much better coached...but body for body, IMHO there is no comparison between X and Manual defensibly.
  4. There are folks in this fine state who still practice snake handling, just as their are folks on this fine board who will still pick X in this game.
  5. Picking against BG is OK, but if you would, go back and show me the number of times BG has given up 35 points in the last 10 years....and yet you think an semi-above average Christian Co. team that couldn't hang 35 on Caldwell is going to do that to BG? :idunno:
  6. Sorry folks, they're doing a few things that are a little more important than high school football on that base. :idunno: That said, has the talent dried up for the Falcons or is it the loss of Berner?
  7. On another note, in Highlands last four games going back to last year, they have given up 37 tonight, 42, 26, and 34. They have some problems on defense, plain and simple.
  8. Not a good sign when Captain Up-sell-the-Competition Mac says things like the above. I adjust my prediction to a running clock by halftime.
  9. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you haven't seen much FS football then. You're talking about a program with historical roots, teams, and players that are on par with some of the best programs in the state. That said, FS slaughters Portland.
  10. Monroe is an excellent team. If they stay healthy, they'll be in the mix come November. BUT...this is BG and this is a FAST BG team. That doesn't bode well for Monore. I predict 35-0 at half...after that it'll be sloppy.
  11. Tilghman...more established coach...more history....natural psychological advantage...at the end of the day, McCracken is a consolidated Heath, Reidland, and Lone Oak...Heath and Lone Oak ONLY experienced success under Jack. Other than that, they were right there with Reidland; awful. Jack's gone.
  12. At some point, X has to look around and realize they basically fired a KY Hall of Fame coach in favor of hiring a Youth League coach. They have had constant turn over. They've been atrocious on either offense or defense depending on the year. It's a shame what a few people (and I'm not talking about the current coaches) can do to a program when they have a misguided agenda.
  13. Monroe is an excellent program with a top notch coach and is prone to great runs of kids. That said, BG is an absolute monster to play, and particularly early in the season when they play nobody both ways and are often rotating guys in constantly. If BG doesn't have the clock running against Monroe, count me as surprised. That prediction aside, a tough Monroe team is dangerous to EVERYONE in 2A.
  14. Jack Haskins was the only contender the McCracken Co. area had outside of the walls of Paducha Tilghman....Jack's gone. Pretender that will progressively get more so as the years go on.
  15. CONTENDER OR PRETENDER 4A Collins - Pretender - there is no Lawson Page or the other two D1 skill guys, not to mention the slew of third year starters they had on that championship team. That was a deep class that came through the Shelby Co. area that year and Collins got a good deal of them. That depth isn't there for now. 5A Covington Catholic - Pretender - Have been since 06...but I will concede that sometimes Cov. Cath can burst onto the scene with an army of linemen and some tough backs behind them. But I still just don't believe in them. Owensboro - Pretender - Lost the coach, lost the QB...both had tons of experience. Can't just replace that.
  16. Saw both Cole and Fant up close... Cole was a lightning bolt and a spooky guy to try and cover. Fant...just forget about it, you couldn't cover him. Period. Fant was clearly better in my opinion. Adding to the list: Eli Brown - LB - Warren East - US Army All American, held numerous offers including Ohio State and USC before committing to UK this year. Shenard Holton - ATH - Warren East - UofL - If your team played against him or you watched him, you know what I'm talking about. Totally dominated both sides of the ball. Unbelievable talent. What's crazy, Brown and Holton are cousins.
  17. Of interesting note...of my nine New Money teams: FIVE are private One is a military school which is different from a public school One is a Magnet school in Louisville Boyle and Belfry are the only two that are basically a common public school in KY Of my seven Old Money Schools ...only Male has been the benefactor of a special designation. The rest are simply KY public schools. ...perhaps we see a trend here of where the best players are going as time passes.
  18. How in the good Lord's name does Johnson Central even get a mention here?! They have less Regional Championships than Warren friggin' East...do they even have a signature win against a school in the same class or higher in their history? I get so sick of hearing about Johnson Central...the slayers of the three legged Billy goats from the Mountains. On the topic: Old Money Male Tilghman Danville Bowling Green Highlands - The Rockefeller's Mayfield - The Vanderbilt's Owensboro Old Money gone broke Paris Manual Lynch East Main Flagget Ashland New Money St. X - Steve Jobs Boyle Trinity - Bill Gates Central Cov. Cath Beechwood NCC Belfry Ft. Campbell
  19. Size and speed of their skill will be unmatched by any in 4A other than maybe John Hardin...what they may lack are linemen, but with Warren Central you never know what you're going to get up-front when the season starts; could be undersized or they could show up with a couple no-names that become household names very quickly.
  20. In that case, I'd say y'all should have 'supported" with a little more oomph about two years ago when the school allowed itself to get into the football mess it's in now.
  21. What a shame that such a collection of talent both failed to win a State Championship and was allowed to become what we saw them be two years ago against BG and again in the Nationally televised game against Oakland. Just a shame.
  22. I have a strong feeling that a lot of the optimism of this thread is going to be squashed when they play either: South Warren or John Hardin On a slightly lower tier of hope crushers, I'd place: Johnson Central Warren Central and Franklin Simpson ...after that, good luck.
  23. Moeller will destroy Trinity...if you don't believe so, just go ask the NKY folks. KY teams have no business playing these near-superhuman teams from Ohio. The idea that a little ol' KY school like Trinity can compete with such incredible coaching, tradition, pageantry, and wealth of thick-ankled Ohio mega-athletes is preposterous.
  24. I give up...I'm off to drink with UKfan...go Highlands...Ohio football is awesome...Maybe Cincinnati will annex you all up there so you can really be "Ohio proud". ...oh, and just one more fact for you all to ignore and bush aside in the wake of your beloved Ohio and Moeller...Mighty Moe has played two teams from states that I would call "southern" (TN, SC, AL, GA, MS, AR, LA, FL) since 2005...they're 0-2. 2006, lost to a 11-2 Byrnes (SC) team 20-21 2008, lost to a 10-2 MBA (TN) team 6-21 ...but hey, I'm sure they were just saving up their energy to play all that much stiffer competition in Ohio.
