  1. Nelson will coach the JV just as though it were a Varsity tem this year. S. Warren will play two Friday night JV games when they play Allen Co. and Warren East on those two school's "off" week Friday nights. Coach Cavanaugh(Sp?) takes over G-wood and is an excellent fit for the Gators as that he is a long time fixture at Greenwood and the kids know him and he knows the ins and outs of that school. South Warren will most likely be a 3A program with the 2011-12 realignment if it stays 6 classes, but who knows what will happen there. :idunno:
  2. South Warren will play a JV schedule in 2010. They begin varsity football in 2011. Mark Nelson takes over after leading Greenwood to the Final Four in 2009 and will take over a program with top notch facilities and football minded administration.
  3. Go ask a kid in High school right now who Guy Morris is...I'd say that maybe 1 out of every 300 could tell you, and that’s a stretch. Three years into the job, Morris would have ceased being UK former HC, and just become another High School HFC.
  4. You really do just love yourself and your affiliation with Highlands don't you? Go spread your elitist cancer elsewhere...let a legend go his way and have the decency to not hijack this thread with questions we all know the answers to. ...and don't bother with the "you're just jealous" spiel either, I was 1-0 against Highlands with a ring to prove it.
  5. That's the exact thinking that parents have begun to push down their kid's throats that has made the game less fun to coach...when did playing become about getting scholarships? And even more, when did it become about getting a DIA scholarship? Thanking like yours is the kind that fuels AAU, single sport athletes who need to "concentrate" on their "best" sport, and parents who complain after great high school careers and infect their children with this kind of egocentric thinking. :puke:
  6. Will Highlands now put in the "Falling backwards, throw the ball over your shoulder without looking" play?...that's one that might even be hard for Highlands to pull off.
  7. I understand he'll also be handling the Highlands diet and conditioning programs...
  8. If Danville is calling for Sam Harp's head...well then, folks, NOBODY will ever be popular for long in high school football coaching.
  9. Not trying to be mean here, but as Trinity football knows, the only thing that matters is how you finish.
  10. I just know what I've been told by people who have a tendency to be right about these things.
  11. Central won't drop to 4A...Greenwood will be in 6A in 2010 and then in 2011 will be determined by the realignment that has yet to be determined. Central will be 5A in 2010 and again will be determined by whatever the realignment does. If it remains the same as it has been, in 2011, Greenwood would remain in 6A despite the losses to SW, and Central is firmly a 5A school, despite the losses to SW. The only school in Warren County close to dropping is BGHS which is right on the bottom line of 5A.
  12. While that may hold true in regards to Thomas More, consider a school like Centre College. A degree from U of L and a degree from Centre are a far cry from one-another. A student with a 3.8 GPA applying for post-grad school from U of L will ALWAYS lose out to a student with a 3.8 GPA from Centre who also brings proof of multi-tasking through playing football and maintaining academic excellence.
  13. In all honesty, small school football is often more of what kids re looking for. At the DI and DI-AA levels, it is a job, plain and simple. Very few, if any, kids are prepared for the rigors and time consumption of top level college football. More over, almost none are prepared for the impersonal cut-throat nature of the game employed by the big boys. Coaches DON"T care about you at the DI-A level unless you are producing on the field. At smaller schools like Centre, Campbellsville, and those of similar make-ups, there is a much more "family" like atmosphere. You aren't just a number on a roster and your value to the team and school isn't just measured in yards gained or total tackles.
  14. Any team that has 9 or 10 kids that are capable of playing at places like Campbellsville, Georgetown, or Cumberland, when mixed with one or two that can play at the I-AA level is a team that few will beat. It isn't all about IA guys when winning championships...thought they do help, and there is no doubt that X and T are the number one and two producers of this kind of talent consistantly over the last 20 years.
  15. If X and T average ONE DI-A player a year to sign a scholarship, which they both do, that makes them both the largest producers of DI-A talent in the state by a wide margin. There are years where schools like Central, BGHS, Paducah Tilghman, Male and others of that calliber will produce multiple DI-A players, but NOBODY does it with the consistancy of X and T.
  16. South Warren opens in 2010 but will not play Varsity football till 2011. They will be the Spartans and their colors are Black, Silver, and Royal. They will start out as a 5A school.
  17. I would call this jumping the gun a bit being that these threads are being done alphabetically, but I'll go first. Lone Oak will be good again, how good will depend on the replacement of the QB and O-line that were both so good this past year. Hard not to label them the favorite to come out of the West for the sheer point of consistency over the last 3 years. I doubt that may will root for them outside of the school itself, but that seems to be a persona that Lone Oak has come to relish. What can be said is that they have created quite a beast of a program over there and it will be intriguing to see where it goes this year. No doubt they will be well coached and will be able to score. Just my two cents.
  18. On top of the previous evidence I have provided: As a Trinity supporter and perhaps ex-player (I'm assuming here) you know that all that matters is what you do in the second season (playoffs). Male beat Ballard in the playoffs last year when it mattered, so I ask, how is Ballard a better job right now, given that the last head-to-head result favors Male?
  19. That's a hard sell given that Male has been in the Regional Final and Final Four in the past two years. While their path is clearly easier than Ballard's, they are still the most successful public big school, year in and year out in KY over the last 30 years...and while policy may have changed, it takes a lot to knock out old tradition...and no other public school in Louisville, outside of Manual perhaps, has the alumni, tradition, and expectations of Male. Outside of Louisville Central and the Big two, it would be impossible to argue that Male is not the best job in Louisville if your interest is playing for State Championships.
  20. I know you feel like I'm chasing you, but, man you're making it hard not to...Let's look at Male and Ballard's season length over the last six years: Male 2009 Regional Final 2008 Semi State 2007 Regional Final 2006 Regional Final 2005 Regional Final 2004 2nd Round Ballard 2009 2nd Round 2008 2nd Round 2007 2nd Round 2006 2nd Round 2005 2nd Round 2004 1st Tound Hard to see how your claim holds water given the reality of the situation. Male IS, and ALWAYS will be a better job than Ballard...Ballard may have a year or two here and there where they eclipse the Bulldogs, but there is too much history, pride, alumni support, and general expectations within the city of Louisville to allow Male to succumb to mediocrity.
  21. True, but isn't that the idea...you know, that you build something over a couple of years...Castle is hardly Shawnee, they have a deep and rich tradition, even if it one of running the ball. Being a coordinating mastermind hardly makes you a great head coach to-be. Signed, Romeo Crenell, Wade Phillips, Gary Kubiak, Dave Campos, Dick LeBeau, Josh McDaniels, Lane Kiffin, and a plethora of others.
  22. Just a honest question here...why is Coverdale held in such high regard for such high profile jobs? Not to say that his offenses aren't brilliant and great, but outside the walls of Trinity we saw what happened to him, and one really has to ask the question, who wouldn't have a great offense at Trinity?
