Saint X players to play at the next level?

Featured Replies

I noticed after looking over all the names of players in KY that have signed at colleges, at any level, that I did not see any Saint X player mentioned. St. X won the largest division in Ky high school football and did it convincingly by being undefeated in the state of KY. Are there not any players at St. X good enough to play college football? If not, what a coaching job that staff did. Does anyone know if there is a player that received a scholarship ?

Two from Trinity signed to play college football. Dylan Kupper OT signed with Eastern and Jessie Schmitt a long snapper signed with Purdue. Neither X or T have many kids year to year sign to play at the next level.

What about Daylen Hall and Nick Sears, DB's?

As everyone has said in the past. St. X and Trinity usually have mass talent, while the public/independent schools have one or two individual exceptional players supported by a mediocre few. After seeing St. X this past year, I am a bit surprised that they did not put more numbers into the DI level of college football. I'm not saying that St.X doesn't have exceptional athletes because I don't get the chance to see them every week to pass that judgement, but there must be some reason the college scouts are pulling from other schools, who knows. And yes, i have to agree that St.X is very well coached talented or not.

Hall is only a junior, but will go D1 for sure.

I think Beach and Jackson will have a shot next year.

Here were the number of players listed on the roster for University of Kentucky and University of Louisville from X and T in 2009.

Kentucky

X- 3

T- 4

Louisville

X-5

T-4

Looks to me that they are putting a lot of kids on college rosters. If they are putting 4-5 kids on top level D-1 rosters (whether they are walk-ons or not) wonder how many you dont hear about going to D2, D3, and NAIA? The argument just doesnt hold weight that X or T dont put out the prospects like other schools. Crazy talk.

I was talking more about this 2010 year. It's not "Crazy Talk" just an observation. Can you tell me any names of their 2010 college signed players? I understand Louisville and Kentucky signing local talent that they get a chance to see fairly often. Did they sign anyone this year?

If X and T average ONE DI-A player a year to sign a scholarship, which they both do, that makes them both the largest producers of DI-A talent in the state by a wide margin.

There are years where schools like Central, BGHS, Paducah Tilghman, Male and others of that calliber will produce multiple DI-A players, but NOBODY does it with the consistancy of X and T.

They are mostly walkons.

It does not matter if some are walkons or not, they still are on the roster. Most schools don't have anybody that could even come close to that level. Also, both UK and UL had former T and X players that played significant minutes for them.

This is based off UKs depth chart (so even if most are walkons, they must be doing pretty well)

UK - 4 X or T players listed as second on the depth chart. 1 listed as first.

They are mostly walkons.

And with all due respect to some of those walkons, they have no business being on those teams. I would say they are D2 or D1AA at best. IMO, of the 9 or so former Rocks on these rosters, only 3 belong there. This is not meant as any disrespect to any of those young men. Their contributions and sacrifices to Trinity immeasurable.

FWIW I think that Trinity does produce some pretty good football players capable of playing college football, just not all D1.

I agree.

First of all this Thread said nothing about Trinity or about years past. The question asked was " St X won the largest division in KY football 2010 by going undefeated against the state's best , and has no player that I have heard of getting a D1 football offer". Does anyone know if there is a player from this year's team that has received a D1 scholarship? Looking at what was posted on Thursday regarding all the signings from all levels of colleges, I did not see a X player listed. Again, does anyone know of a player that did sign?

This has nothing to do with this thread. We are talking about this past year's group of St. X seniors.
