  1. Remember when Collins went to the Finals, and then went the next year and beat Highlands...and this board began the talk of a "new power"? Also...will FS make it five years in a row of being"young"? I think they have claimed to be "young" since their run in 2011. They're like the Peter Pan of South Central KY.
  2. Think of this...and a BG person can correct me if I'm wrong here...but since 2005, Murray has offered a total of ZERO scholarships to players from BGHS, Gwood, or Warren East. If that's correct, and I think it is, that's staggering.
  3. You have to do what's best for your program. Barren already plays BG and now South Warren so all the "watering down the schedule" people can head elsewhere. Greenwood dropped BG in the late 2000's and consequently went to the Final Four in 6A in 2009. East dropped BG in the late 2000's and consequently went to the Final Four in 4A in 2012. South Warren has refused to play BG and won the state championship in 2015. All of those were in-town-out-of-district decisions made by programs who: 1. Knew they were not gaining a lot other than a gate by playing BG because of how good BG was/is. and 2. Made the decision based on what they felt was best for their program. It is hard to argue that any of the three's decision was a bad one. We will see how this plays out for Barren.
  4. I'm just going to throw this out there...Coach Lucas has shown that he builds a program. If you look at his runs at Bryan Station and Manual, both started relatively poorly and finished strong. That said, he has had some serious abundances of talent, like "close to if not the best in the state" levels of talent at times and has failed to get past the second round in his career. He's got to be near retirement. Does Dunbar really want to go down another 3-4 year stay coach run with another guy at the tail end of their career?
  5. BGHS is licking its chops looking at one of those Up/Down moves and I ain't talking about Highlands.
  6. I think people slightly overestimate what AD's make...
  7. No high school team can beat a college team with 85 full scholarships. NEVER.
  8. Last night LSU played a FR. kid named Arden Kelly at DE...he's a true FR who stands 6-6 231 and played all year against SEC players...he dominated last night. You're going to have a hard time convincing me that Campbellsville (a good team this year) could have blocked that kid 6 months ago. Tennessee is going to start a kid named Chance Hall at Right Tackle. He's started for the last six games against SEC players and UT was very good at running the ball this year. He's 6-4 318...again, you're going to have a hard time convincing me that Campbellsville could have generated a pass rush or held up in the run game against that kid 6 months ago. I'm a fan of small college ball, and I've been to quite a few of their games...but they do not have guys that can hold up against the elite of the elite coming out of HS...and those transfer guys are transfer guys for a reason. They may run a 4.4 but can't turn their hips to save their life. They may be 6'7 295 but can't pass block to save their life. ...and I fully admit, some of these HS guys that I'm touting, will actually end up being those transfer guys, but as a whole, I'll take the elite (Army/Under Armor AA Games guys) High School players over the small non-full scholarship teams.
  9. The All Americans in today's game, and I'm talking up front here, would destroy most of your lower level second tier teams. I say that there is no way a bad NAIA OL could block the D-linemen in the Army AA Game nor could the lower level college DL's generate a pass rush against those HS All Star OL's. For instance, Centre, which is a good lower level program, I do not believe could handle the caliber of players they would face in those games. Too much size and speed for the HS Seniors playing in those games. That said, I don't believe any collection of any HS All Stars could come within 21 points of the worst DI-A or scholarship DI-AA school. Just my two cents.
  10. Bell and Cov. Cath should get together and have a love child named "Train-wreck".
  11. ...or Lexington at least! The attendance was awful this year! Parking with WKU taking finals made it a total traffic jam! I couldn't get a seat at Double Dogs! The drive was too far! I figured I'd get a jump on this thread. Oh, and while I'm at it SIX CLASSES IS WAY TOO MANY!!!!
  12. They still have club level seats available but as Watusi said, they're $25 a pop.
  13. Anyone know if the VIP Chairback seats on the lower level have access to the Stadium Club like they have in the past?
  14. Exactly my point... At one point FS was 23-2 against the Raiders, owned two State titles and two Runner-Up's (all before your time with the Wildcats, Mac) and it seemed that East would "never catch the Wildcats" as was said earlier about East and the Spartans (who hold a whopping 3-2 advantage on the Raiders)...since that 23-2 mark, FS now leads the series just 7-5 over the last 10 years. It's pretty clear the Raider program has pulled even with the Wildcats for the most part, actually eclipsing them in Regional Titles 2 to 1 since 2000 (both won with FS in East's District) as well as facilities wise in the coming year. ...and I agree, the new HC will take East to new heights, and more than likely finally turn the corner on those hated Wildcats for good!
  15. Finally a true and factual statement...wait... Over the last five years, BG is 20-1 in the playoffs with three State Championships and an opportunity to win a fourth on Saturday. If that's not a choke-a-thon, I don't know what is...:isurrender:
  16. You mean like: Owensboro who was 11-2 with two loses to BG and ranked #2 in 5A? or maybe... Fern Creek who as 12-2 with a loss to BG and Manual? or perhaps you were referencing... McCracken Co., a 10-3 6A team? no, no, you must have meant... 10-4 6A Semi-Finalist Central Hardin? wait, my bad, really, you were talking about... 9-3 Greenwood? No, you were talking about when they slummed it up against... 8-4 Christian Co. team. I won't talk about St. X cause BG treated them like Highlands treated every team they played that had a winning record: they lost.
  17. Congrats, you hammered a down East team that started like 17 Sophomores. You think you'll just keep on rolling over the Raiders? Franklin used to think like that too. 1-9 turns into 10+ wins on Louisville Rd. real fast. See y'all in the next couple of years. Good luck this week though, in the end, we're all one school system, right?
  18. South's ventures into 5A and 6A hardly render eye popping scores outside of their drubbing of good Greenwood team. But I'll give it a try... 1. Male 2. Trinity 3. St. X 4. Simon Kenton 5. Lafayette 6. Manual 7. BG 8. Owensboro 9. Pulaski 10. Scott Co. I don't think South would be within 10-14 points of any of these teams. Honorable mention: McCracken - because they can actually throw the ball Fern Creek - neither team might ever score Cooper - a quality matchup for both North Laurel - Like McCracken, their offensive ability is beyond anything South has faced Belfry - Like Cooper, I think it would be an awesome game to watch. Also, please note, I didn't just name traditional schools. I would pick South against Highlands, Cov Cath, Boyle (though we all know you can't whip your daddy!), Lex Cath, all of 5A and 6A that aren't listed above, and every 1A-4A school save Belfry. This isn't just random South bashing. It's an objective view based on what I think teams and South bring to the table.
  19. Except BG fans are basing their arguments on having actually beaten a team with a winning record this year. I don't think ANYONE that's a real BG fan sees Pulaski as anything but a very, very daunting opponent.
  20. 1. 4A is HORRIBLE this year. SW fans may want to note that they're the ONLY people claiming it's not. 2. The idea that SW is even a top 10 team in KY is preposterous because of the fact that SW has little to no real offensive threat. Defensively, I agree, top 5. But a look at their scoring against lukewarm competition is the tell on why NOBODY outside of SW thinks they're even in the top 10 discussion. 3. SW is going to slaughter Johnson Central. If JC scores, count me as shocked. 4. It's comical how people keep talking about South's abundance of "athleticism" and how this gives them the edge. Folks, it's those cats upfront that make South great. Skill wise, they're a nice group, but up front, especially on D, they're spooky good.
  21. You just argued for a Defense that gave up 42 in a half in a State game and then, as a FTH fan, argued the validity of a win against GRANT Co., and beating a 5-7 Cov. Cath team. This is surreal.
