  1. Here is a crazy thought about Owensboro: They just moved out of a district that included Hoptown and Christian Co. and into a district with Lone Oak and Hopkins Co. Central and it may have just gotten HARDER for them to win a District Championship. They beef up the district for Lone Oak and add a player to 4A Western KY, but with what Lone Oak has coming back, it will be interesting to see how Owensboro plays against them. Lone Oak wilol be a buzz saw for the next couple of years.
  2. That helmet was just used for the bicentennial year in 1976. The helmets have been gold for as long as I know. Macdon and/or Bulldog probably can tell about the helmets about as far back as anyone. The only real change I know of over the last 30 years is from a grey facemask to a now purple one.
  3. Hines will most likely be UK highest projected draftable guy next year. He will leave UK a three year starter. There is a 70 foot mural of him outside the stadium at UK...you post is full of "if's: and "but's" but the proof in UK choosing Hines is there. What has Grubbs done to validate your thinking over the past four years?
  4. Pike is just as big, has a better throiwing motion, better feet, faster release, stronger arm, higher release point, is a textbook passer who's always up on his toes, and a list of offers that Towles will never see the likes of. Why would you even try to put the two in the same catagory? Towles is a great player and WILL get more offers, but you're setting him up for a message board beat down by trying to compare the two. It's a sad joke to imply that a guy comes with a list of offers like he's got through "marketing". These schools are too good and have too much riding to just whimsically offer people based on half truths.
  5. Why does it have to be well-established coach? Just curious
  6. Amen. If any of us just move on, there's no point in this board.
  7. You have to start from the beginning of this thread and read up to here.
  8. http://rivals.yahoo.com/highschool/b...hschool-296128 "Thing's" happen.
  9. Here's another thing I'd like to throw out that is more on topic with this thread. Let's say we leave Highlands and/or Trinity with the same staff, same facilities, same school, administration and so on and so forth; the only thing we change are the players. Let's say, we only give either of those two places Campbell Co.'s team. Both places get 4 years to work with what Campbell Co. works with player wise, but use all the resorces available to T and Highlands. Do either of those places win a State Championship? I bet neither even wins a regional title. My point: It has very little to do with all the factors that are being considered by this thread's original premiss, and almost everything to do with the players. Feel free to bash away.
  10. WOOSH....that's the sound of my post going over your head. Go back and re-read it and focus on the "'things' happen" part. If anything, my gloom and doom gives you all something to argue about. The season is over and now we are left with things like this to talk about.
  11. Then you're not much of a history buff. That simply illustrates my point. "Thing's" happen. What those "thing's" are is unknown, but my point is based on the reoccuring historical trend that some "thing" will happen that will derail even the best and most stable enterprises. When you have an entire state beginning to root against you, that "thing" often speeds up its arrival. And, like just about every single mega sucess story, those at the top cannot concieve that anything could derail them. An example would be (and don't lose your minds here, this isn't going to happen it's a hypothetical "thing" that could happen): Let's say Betty gets into some huge arguement with the admin. He looses his mind over some issue, resigns and heads down to the KHSAA and informs them that Trinity has in fact been recruiting unfairly and hands them the paperwork to prove it. Instantly, Trinity gets the "Death Penalty" (I've been watching 30-for-30) and is barred from High School athletics for 5 years. Boom, one man, one "thing" and all the tradition, all the hard work and everything that has been built, is crushed with one sweep of a comish.'s hand. These types of "thing's" are not uncommon. In fact their occurance is actually the norm. Now, will this happen to T or X? I doubt it, but I am suggesting that T is more and more finiding themselves to be a grand vessel out in the middle of an ocean that they are kings of. They are the biggest ship, the fastest, the best in every way. BUT they are becoming more and more a ship in an ocean full of smaller, envious ships, who are waiting for them to spring a leak, and when that happens will watch that ship sink and never lend a hand. And if history teaches us anything, it is that no ship is built to last forever.
  12. That is the flip side of the coin and has all the probabilty of happing as what I suggest. There is no doubt T and X are great places to be. there is no doubt that they continue to seperate. I simnply err on the doomsday side of the coin, because history has shown time and again, that when groups, companies, or empires outgrow the normal scope of their groupings they tend to come crashing back to earth. some rebuild smarter and some disappear. I doubt T or X will ever disappear, but I would be willing to bet that those Flagget people felt the same way at one point.
  13. It's well documented that Trinity does not do well beyond the boarders of KY. But that is a moot point. There is no doubt that within the borders, they are far and away the best. I don't think that they should be ostracized for simply putting their money where their mouth is and making a commitment to excellence in both the classroom and athletic fields. BUT that is not the point. The state has grown weary of their excellence. So I am possing the question, what happens to an excellent program when nobody cares? Does it continue to be excellent or does it lose steam because when there is no glory or admiration by your peers, how do you stay motivated. More over, what happens when you go from being simply an enemy to becoming an outcast to whom no door is open and no welcome is present? Like I've said, Trinity is a unique study in sports. Please understand, I believe what Trinity and X are is what all schools should strive for. I am simply saying and expressing what I am seeing happen in this state in respect to these schools.
  14. Stop playing Trinity. That will solve the unable to beat them problem pretty quickly. It's as simple as going on strike against playing them. It has worked for unions (the rest of the big schools in KY in this case) for hundreds of years. Let me put it this way, if you took a poll of all the 6A schools in KY that was anonymous and asked two questions: (1) Do you feel like Trinity and St. X have an unfair advantage over all other schools in KY?, and (2) Do you feel like they should be excluded from the 6A championships? I would bet a lot of money that you'd get back nearly 100% "YES"'s for both answers. A sentiment like that can only be ignored for so long. I have no idea how this will play out nor do I blame Trinity or St. X for what they have done. I am simply saying that this is going to come to an ugly head before too long.
  15. The reality is that there is nothing that they can do. As I said, everyone wishes they were in T's spot, but as I have also said, T is headed in a direction that is making them a man without a country in in KY. Do they care, probably not, but what happens to a program when it does nothing but win and nobody cares, or even worse, everyone just calls you a cheater or ignores you when you say you're a Trinity guy. What happens when being associated with Trinity becomes a bad thing? Will this happen? I don't know, but I do think that Trinity provides a unique study of the perception of a sports program. Time will tell.
  16. If the only tems that are willing to play T are in their district it becomes an eye sore. An eye sore will only last so long before the organization who that eye sore is a reflection upon must do something about it. I'm not suggesting that teams do this, or that it will for sure happen, but it is headed that way. The 6A state championship has become of less and less interest each year. The lack of parity (even to a small degree) is beginning to really hurt the perception of big school football in KY. The state is starting to stop championing its high school football ambasador to the country. More and more, the comment is becoming prevalant "They can't win outside the boarders of the state", a comment that is statistically true, and a reflection of a growing continget of detractors from them. Much like what happened to De La Salle in Cali, thay state is beginning to turn its back on the acomplishments of Trinity. In essance, Trinity is building a golden castle that nobody is in admiration of. All of that said, there is probably not a coach, player, or school that wouldn't want to be in T's position. I am simply expressing what I see is a growing sentiment of the state.
  17. Both are big fish in a small pond. Both programs get kids for out of district because they are great places to be. But I will say this, Trinity is beginning to push an issue in KY. It has gone from the state doesn't like that they're beating them but is proud of them as a symbol of what can be to a much harsher dislike for them. People are starting to stop playing them. Outside of T's walls, very few like them. 6A is becoming an ugly mess that nobody wants to be a part of because you are nothing but a lamb to the slaughter (with the exception of X). It will not be long before nobody but T's district will play them, and not much longer till those teams in their district begin to loby the KHSAA to get them out. Pretty soon, KY will realize that the way to stop the monster that is T, (and could be X) is to starve them. Of course, I could be wrong, but even on this very pro-Trinity board, you can see general displeasure beginning to boil over (see the "Running up the score threads). JMO
  18. That has nothing to do with their lack of success in the playoffs. Yes, they have lost to VERY good teams in the regular season, but at the same time, they haven't won in the playoffs since 2006. We all know that at schools like Cov. Cath., they are measured by playoff success (that's a compliment) and they have not been successful in the playoffs since 2006. I doubt you will find many people associated with that program that will say this has been a decent run for Cov. Cath the last 4 years. The fact is, that by Cov Cath standards and expectations they have stunk. By playoff success standards, they have not been good. By stability standards, they have stunk. It has simply been a down time for Cov Cath and until they fix that (which I have no doubt that they will) the rest of the state is hardly going to view them as what they have been in seasons such as 2006. For now, they are not a contender and they would have been a four TD dog the past three years to the West representative in the Finals. So, for the Cov Cath contingent, please don’t try to tell us that they’re suddenly better than anybody on the Western half of 4A just because they might be good next year.
  19. Re-read what I wrote and pay attention to the BOLD print for me. Originally Posted by W.E. Raider If the West of 4A has proven anything, it is that nobody is built to last. If anything, it may be the most exciting half of the state in KY, as that it seems anybody and everybody has a shot each year.

  21. Allen and Lone Oak, and it ain't even close for the rest. Allen's crowd on their side at the finals alone was bigger than the 6A combined crowd. Lone Oak's crowd in 09 dwarfed Boyle's at the Finals and did likewise to Lex. Cath in 07 at PJCS.
  22. So when is Cov Cath. going to grow up...they've been average to bad since 2008.
  23. ...and the East isn't? There are two teams in the East, Highlands and Boyle. The 2010 ACS team would have blasted everyone this year but those two. The 2009 Lone Oak team would have blasted everyone but those two. Cov. Cath i a shell of what it once was. Lex. Cath is down, and has the potential to be up, but no more so thn several of the West teams.
  24. Lone Oak should be able to beat anyone on the East save Highlands being that they started a Freshman 6'3 QB this year and dang near won the Region against a VERY good Allen Co. team. Franklin returns two top flight players in the Wickware;s as well as a host of athletes. It will be hard to derail what Allen has going being that while they lost a lot of Seniors, they return both their ILB's on defense and some quality skill players on offense. Owensboro is Owensboro and will benifit from getting away from BG, Christian, and Warren Central. That's Region 1, I don't know much about Region 2
