  1. Uh...BGP had to create an entire domain known as the Private/Public Forum to deal with the issues I am alluding to...geeze-oh-pete. Not say that T or X are guilty of anything, but for either of their supporters to throw allegations at Male and Redman, allegations with little to zero conclusive findings, is to define hypocrisy.
  2. For someone with 36,000+ posts to tell me that I have an agenda is the definition of irony...No, I am simply musing the fact that KY has just lost one of its most successful coaches, and the majority of posts on the subject are negative...and moreover, most of these posts are coming from Trinity posters, a school that has hardly been regarded (right or wrong) by the masses as an ethical compass. I believe, other than the fumbleroski, Male has had as many sanctions leveled against them as T or X in the past decade.
  3. What a classy way to send off a legend...:irked:
  4. ...That, or you have chosen to insult thirty years of coaches in the biggest class in KY by suggesting that what Coach J has proposed is the first time any coach has tried these things in an effort to beat X or T. Wow... ...and I would say that there are a lot of coaches out there, coaches who have won more, advanced their teams further, that find the premises of what he is proposing to be egotistical and demeaning to the work of all those who have gone before him, who have fought this fight, who have pushed their kids, demanded excellence and discipline, worked 100 hour weeks, and strove to dethrone the big two.
  5. ...and so you are saying this is response to my question of "what is he doing that NO OTHER coach has done for the last thirty years?" The argument several have defended Coach J’s ascertainments here with places them in a proverbial frying pan: In the pan you all believe that he is original and thus insult thirty years of coaches in the highest class of public schools in favor of a team and coach who have yet to eclipse the third round. Out of the pan and the defense becomes erroneous. If his idea is not original, then it is a replication of what someone has already done in the last thirty years, and we know the result of those efforts. :idunno:
  6. Theory and optimism are great things. Reality is boring, over-rated, and for pessimists. Theory: Ballard/and or a public school can catch T and X and compete year-in and year-out. Reality: X has out scored Ballard 98-6 in the last two years / T 52-21 in the same span. No team other than Male has even come close to the year-in year-out competitive nature being idealistically alluded to here in the last 30 years. Question: What does Coach J think he's doing that EVERY other coach, Bob Redman included, has failed to do in the last THIRTY years in the city of Louisville, or the public domain of KY, for that matter?
  7. You've missed the implied allusion of the statement entirely. The statement was "If a man trains 5 days a week to run to the moon...is it a noble pursuit?"...that means, of course you regard it as a possible achievement, why else does one train? Of course you look at the moon and say, with great determination in your heart, "I will run to you!" BUT the reality is still there...in the past 15 years (1995 - 2009), 12 of the State Championships in KY's biggest class have gone to one of the big two. Are we to believe that your optimistic and driven views are original? Is it not audacious to assume that the rest of 4A/6A for the past 15 years have not held the same belief’s, that they too have not strove to close the same gap. The gap is not closing, it is widening. In the previous 15 years (1980 - 1994) the big two took just 9 of the 15 titles. The previous 15 (1965 - 1979) years, which included 3A as the biggest class, again, 9 of the 15. It isn't a matter of football; it is a matter of the direction of public education in general. The public school's inability to compete is not the fault of the coaches, players, parents, or boosters...it is the fault of the state of public education in KY in general. Want to beat the big two? Build facilities like they have. Pay your coaches like they do. And MORE THAN ANYTHING, offer the academic excellence that they do, which is the NUMBER ONE lure to prospective parents. To believe that one can change the general sociological norms of today's American society with desire and discipline alone is a fallacy. All of that is said with the notion that we too will work this week with the goal in mind that we want to become State Champions, even if Lexington Catholic stands in our way. So, with all that said, I put on my running shoes, stare at the moon, and I too say, “Here I come.”
  8. Coach Carter will have them in the weightroom and I suspect there will be considerably more push in the hind ends of their linemen and skill guys this year when they run their Wishbone attack at people. Expect them to get better.
  9. If a man trains 5 days a week to run to the moon...is it a noble pursuit? Not trying to be mean/sarcastic here, just alluding to the reality of the situation in 6A KY football. I think it’s a legit question. :idunno:
  10. All the teams you have named have long storied histories of success in football. Lone Oak was the equivalent of a middle school team playing a high school schedule before Haskins. There is no way you can argue against the team and program that he's built at Lone Oak. Ask yourselves this question: Of these schools, Highlands, St. X, Lawrence Co., Somerset, Tilghman, and Lone Oak, which school is the most unlikely to end up in two state finals in three years?
  11. I would venture to say that if Notre Dame and UK played over the last four years, UK would be 3-1...though the alure of the Gold Dome can't be denied. Further, those are the same things they said about Charlie W when he got there.
  12. I respectfully contest your post. In Louisville they do the EXACT same thing with the tickets and say the EXACT same thing about clearing the place out. Traffic at U of L is horrible as well, though I give you, not nearly as bad as WKU. Tickets - same story at U of L...they only sold tickets at six of the gates at PJCS each year. Stadium - There is no comparison between PJCS and Smith stadium. PJCS is like a tomb for the games. It's empty, quiet and distant from the action. WKU may not be all chair backs (Which by-the-way, U of L is the ONLY stadium in college football that is ALL chair backs), but the other advantages trump the seats...and really, who sits at a State Championship game? Concessions - PJCS is awful in this respect. There is Pizza, Ice Cream??? and Bar-B-Q...that's about it...both venues leave a good deal to be desired. Atmosphere - I agree! Misc - Music too loud? Uh, have you heard the train horn at U of L? Why would you want the music not to be loud? That's the way it is in the NFL? And more over, if anything is too loud it's the announcer at PJCS who just goes on and on and on.
  13. I would venture to say TV ratings, college ootball, and the NFL would all beg to differ. December B-ball is awful normally with a smattering of games being played during the Christmas break before crowds of 50-75 people (mostly mom's and dad's).
  14. They say the same thing every year...once you're in, you're in. Now, if you leave, that's another story, but I can guarentee you the KHSAA isn't going to foot the bill for enough event staff to clear the place out after each game.
  15. Look at the numbers...the KHSAA doen't make much money on the Football Finals when compared with the Boys Sweet 16 anyways. T and X for a single game doen't make or break their budget. The Boy's Sweet 16 is all that they realy care about, in fact, I believe that it earns them nearly four times the Football Finals. I think many will find the "closed in" nature of LT Smith stadium and the much smaller nature of the venue to enhance the experience. Not to mention, the teams from the West, Lone Oak, Mayfield, PT, and Ft. Campbell will no doubt appreciate the closer nature of the game.
  16. Per WBKO...at a Press Conf. today at noon, Taggart will be named the new HC at WKU. ...It's the only hire that made sense with the way they handled the end of Elson's time on the Hill. Good pick for the Hilltoppers. Perhaps Willie T will recruit a bit more within the state lines.
  17. Those are great matchups, but having seen all three play this year, I have a hard time believing that Elder is not the lesser of the three mentioned.
  18. Now that is a difference maker...the Yard is a hard place to travel to and a hard place to win.
  19. Wow....just plain ol' wow. All I can say is just be on the safe side and don't have any cannons near the field...after last year and all...
  20. Allen pretty much returns the same team that beat Lone Oak last year with everyone being a year older...I would say that is worthy of note.
  21. Allen man-handled Lone Oak when Lone Oak had a DI-A QB/Ath. on the field...Lone Oak doesn't have a DI-A QB or Athlete on the field now. Allen 35 Lone Oak 34
  22. Lone Oak in the playoffs against GOOD competition has produced ZERO blowouts in the last two years...while Lone Oak should be considered the favorite, they have by no means shown the ability to pull away from quality competition. They have shown the ability to win against that competition though. Toss Up.
