  1. No they're not. Christian has TWO players who are better than anybody on Allen's team, but as a whole, Allen is a better team. Boyle needed a phantom offsides call and a pure stupidity block in the back to put Allen away. That's part of the game, but I would put ACS as a Pick'em against everyone in the Finals this year save Trinity and Highlands.
  2. Allen can beat both. Allen has size, speed, and a very large Sr. class. I can say this, neither Bell or Boyle are as big up frnt as Allen. That's got to count for something.
  3. Thug'ish is refering to what seems to be an unusual amount of mouthing and personal fouls by T's players as well as questionable behavior by the coaches such as last night. It has nothing to do with race, which is silly. It has to do with the product on the field which is a football team. If T's own AD is having to restrain the HFC, you have a problem. It just seems that there's a lot of smoke on this subject, which more than often means there's a fire somewhere.
  4. T has been labeled by those that have played them this year as being much more "thug'ish" than anyone has ever seen out of the storied program. I would venture to say that most of KY will be rooting for X this Friday, and very few outside of Rock nation will be proud should this Trinity team win it all. Has Trinity sold out on some of the values that made it great in order to win even more?
  5. That's because Ohio knew better than to venture south of the river that year. KY teams almost voted to declare Ft. Thomas a separate Union for the 98 season to avoid having to play the Birds that year.
  6. The 09 team was good, but Collinsworth and Co. would still be getting scraped out of the cleats of the Hefty Lefty and Smith. 98 was bigger, strong, faster, and more talented than perhaps any team ever to grace a field in KY. We may never again see a team run through the state competition the way that Highland's team did. Their AVERAGE score for the year in 98 was 53-13, and those 13 almost always came againt the third stringers.
  7. Nevermind, all Highlands teams are the greatest Highlands teams...except that the 98 team would beat them all by 40.
  8. That's just silly. The 1988 & 89 Trinity teams were virtually unbeatable and nationally ranked. Highlands 98 and 07 teams were two of the best that have ever been seen in KY. Last year, Ohio threw its best at what was a good, but not one of the greatest Highlands teams, complete with a national #1 ranking, and got smacked and sent home with their tail between their legs. Do not mistake OVERALL quality as opposed to top echelon quality. KY's best are every bit, and sometimes better, than Ohio's. Now below that elite line of 4 or 5 teams, Ohio rules the roost.
  9. Ohio is better overall, no doubt, as are many states. KY's top three or four teams would easily compete in their respective divisions in Ohio. In the past 15 years, Highlands, Boyle, Trinity, St. X, Cov. Cath and several others would have won at the very least one, if not more than that, state championships in Ohio. Highlands 1998 team would have destroyed any team in any class in Ohio that year.
  10. Yeah, UK has really struggled to put defensive players in the NFL...
  11. One huge drawback we've run into when playing OPEN is that despite their depth of defensive talent, they bring a HORRIBLE gate. We make almost nothing at the gate or on concessions when they come to our place. Further, they refuse to display any team spirit. They don't bring cheerleaders or a band. It's a shame that such a quality program does not have better support or more class.
  12. Guys, come on, Raceland beating OPEN? Really? I mean, seriously, OPEN has shut out, T, X, Male, and Highlands. I'm sorry to burst your bubble here, but no way Raceland scores on OPEN's D...now their O leaves a lot to be desired, but we all have heard, "Defense wins championships." I did hear that in protest to Highlands being given their win/tie back against OPEN in 2004, OPEN will be refusing to play in this year's playoffs. But that is purely rumor at this point.
  13. I don't know about that...Boyle maybe (I've never been to one of their games), but here in recent years, Danville (unless it's a rivalry game) hasen't exactly packed the house.
  14. It had to happen folks. Lone Oak simply couldn't sustain the level of players thay have just "plugged" in over the past three years. I mean seriously, at QB they have gone from Robinson (DI-A, Troy) to Can't remember his name (DI-A, WKU) to Looper (Looked DI-A to me) in a span of THREE years. That is unheard of at that position. They're still good, they're just not what they have been. ...and I would say that it's actually an O-line thing more than anything. Last year's O-line was untouchable.
  15. So your justification is, "they lost, but are happy for their performance in that loss (actually a sign of respect for Trinity that seems to be lost on you), so I need to make sure they understand that we should have beat them worse, because winning is not enough"? You're right, that's pretty sad...
  16. Fans of a winning team that lament and point fingers as to why they didn't "win by more" are classless fans. Simple as that.
  17. So, somehow Trinity has gone from not being able to score at TD agaist BG last year to the ability to put up the most points against a BG team in the last 20 years? I think you have a VAST over-estimiation of the ability of the Rocks. No doubt they are good, and no doubt they ought to be favored, but BG has more than proven that neither X nor T has the capability to blow them out, and the scores from the past 5 years simply don't lie.
  18. Lex Cth in a blowout...49-14 with Lone Oak scoring late...Lone Oak is still good, but the run of trigger men in on hold at least until the Fr. gets some more time under his belt.
  19. Winning is difficult...even more difficult in a place like Jackson Co. If you REALLY want to win, you've got to give a guy at least 4 years to get things going. Typical small county ball, wanting to jump ship after two years...good luck with that.
  20. Your Lone Oak posts have taken on a distinctly negative tone... I always thought what made Lone Oak so great was the TEAM attitude of their fans.
  21. With these two, it was simple finances. Once you get to 30 years in the KRS, you start working for free essentially. Why not move 60 miles and collect retirement + a second full salary?
  22. Uh, wouldn't he need to actually beat one of those two schools to be considered that? Sorry Guru, you're reaching here. Coach Jackson has done a good job at Ballard, but as a Head Coach, he hasn’t even won a REGIONAL championship, much less started to dethrone the big two. In fact, Coach Jackson's record against all private schools is 1-9, with his only win coming against Holy Cross when he was at Pikeville. Not trying to speak down about Coach Jackson, who I have said does a good job, but when you throw an idea out there like that and then you start to go back and look at the numbers, well, the numbers, they don't lie. More over, isn’t Dale Muller a better candidate for this label?
  23. They take football a little more serious down there...
