  1. Bell Co. just got a taste of what Knox Co. football is like. It's a different level down there. The last Knox Co. team Bell played was Knoxville Central and they handled a good Bell team as well. Give Bell credit for opening with such a staunch opponent.
  2. Best: Scoring 5 TD's against Polk High School. Worst: Marrying Peggy.
  3. Russell Co. does it....ugh, give the wrong offiial a mic and all of a sudden he starts to really like the crowd hearing his voice. When there's an official with a mic, plan on having about 5 extra penalties called. Hate it.
  4. WKU is a nicer, better venue than Papa John's...end of story. It's better for the All Star game and will be better for the State Championships. And you know what, Highlands and one of the big two will probably adjust just fine to playing there just like they did when it moved to Louisville. And all the mommas and daddies will be just fine remembering how they won it in 20-- down there in Bowling Green and how exciting it was to run out in front of those people and win a ring. I won a ring in old Cardinal Stadium which is a total dump...but you know what, I'll always remember that dump fondly...and not have a bit of jealousy that some kids winning one at PJ's or LT Smith. On the All Star game, the East again looked slow and out gunned at every turn. If not for the Fran Takenton-like play of the East’s QB the East would have finished with 2 net yards.
  5. I'll take fast everyday and twice on Sunday over big...Warren East's Shenard Holton is playing for the West now...he was originally going to report to U of L early but is now going to report in July, thus allowing him to play. Go West...make it 2-0!
  6. Just curious....does anyone know how a place like Bracken Co. came up with the idea to be the "Polar Bears"?
  7. An arguement for 6 classes. In 2006 Warren East finished 10-2 with two lopsided losses to Bowling Green in the old 4 class system. That was a pretty dang good East team, but those kids only got to experience the playoffs for two games because they ran into a meat grinder in the second round. In 2007, East again had a very good team, but this time in the six class system. East advanced to the Semi-Finals and played one of the best high school football games I have ever been a part of against another upstart in Lone Oak in front of a packed house. That game will be remembered by all who played in it as well as that team being remembered at East forever for winning a Regional title and getting so far. Those kids will always be proud of what they acomplished, as will the coaches, parents, and fans who were a part of that. In 2008, the same thing happened for Calloway Co., Allen Co., and Bullitt East. If that's watered down, then you can keep your concentrate and I'll take the great memories that this watered down version has produced.
  8. I'm sorry but PT returned the greater part of the team that nearly went to the State Championship the year beore and then gets beat by Muhlenburg South the next year...I don't think PT uderstood much of anything they were doing last year.
  9. Greenwood will be 4A in 2010. Warren Central will remain in 5A until the completion of the 2012 season. After that, it's debatable, but in 2010, Greenwood will drop and join District 1 in 4A (which makes no geographical sense), and Central will remain in 5A until 2012 at the earliest.
  10. This will be as young as Warren East has been since 2005, when they started just 3 seniors and went 7-4. Of course, that led to a 10-2 and 11-3 seasons in the next two years. East will likely start 4-5 underclassmen O-linemen, all of them big. 9-10 of their starters on defense will likely be Jr.'s or younger. Only 3 returning seniors played last year. Some others have the potential for playing time, but none-the-less, this will be a year of learning. And tough lessons it will be with a schedule that includes: Glasgow, Apollo, Russellville, Bowling Green, Warren Central, Allen Co, Franklin Simpson, and Trigg Co. The types of athletes that took East to the Final Four in 07 are back, but they are so young, that will be a test each game for them to play at a top-flight level. This is a team that is going to be VERY good in a year, but only time will tell what is in store in 2009.
  11. Warren Co. has its own youth league that is already a very big system with many teams at multiple levels. The local High School coaches have no say in this league.
  12. Uh, that's some impressive fundraising then..normally, school districts build stadiums, not coaches...but if he did, more power to him...Central needs a new one too.
  13. East plays Trigg in Week 10 this year. I am curious to hear what Wetsider has to say about them.
  14. A lot of bigger name players than Phillips who hold better offers will be, and did play last year...why would he opt out?
  15. Well the West leads 1-0 after smacking the East last year...will the East even the score this year?
  16. Just curious, do either of the two names have any HC experience? Cov. Cath seems like it would be drawing some bigger and more proven names...though I may just not be in the know about these guys.
  17. Is it just me, or am I the only one that seems to feel that the whole hire from Ohio hasen't really worked out that well for CCH? I mean, in terms of establishing and sustaining a stable program that wins at the top level.
  18. Actually I think tailgating will be better. WKU has the entire field area across from the stadium to tailgate in. It makes for a much more "college" like environment to the games. PJ's is just kind of rag-tag all around the stadium. WKU offers a more condensed and concentrated area for tailgaters and they normally make this area accessable for games. I have yet to be at an event at Diddle or LT Smith where the traffic was bad...WKU does an excellent job with BGPD in keeping the flow in and out pretty constant.
  19. Even with LCA and Lex. Cath., you still do not even have publics in Lexington that stack up in the way that Male has. You would think at least ONE public out of Lexington would grab the kind of ownership of the public domain like Male has...yet they all seem fairly balanced in mediocrity.
  20. Does it not seem odd that so many are in the dark about this? It's like an unspoken curse or something. It's not as if the schools in Lexington lack facilites. Don't most of them have turf? I know PLD has a huge stadium and a nice field.
  21. No, the start date for pads, for now, is still determined by the first day of school per school. Again, that goes back to the philosophical question of do you want an extra week of practice before you start or do you want a break somewhere in the season?
  22. You got it right. Just depends on what matters more to a school, the Open Week or 2 Scrimmages.
