Class 6A

The Big 3 (Trinity, Male, and St. Xavier), have earned their moniker by simply outclassing the rest of 6A on a consistent basis. With realignment taking some of 6A's best teams outside of Jefferson County, there may not be a season where the Big 3 stands out more than 2019. Expect these teams to shift in rankings at the top all throughout the year, and with tough draws in the opener, it may start as soon as Week 2. Simon Kenton has been the most consistent Northern Kentucky 6A school and say goodbye to some of their neighbors, but the Pioneers have high hopes to make some major moves. North Hardin may be a surprise Top 5 team, but they return a ton of experience and elite athleticism. Speaking of pure talent, Butler and Ballard each have D-1 stars on their roster. Butler get the defending 5A Champions and a perfect opportunity to make a seismic statement.

1. Trinity vs. Carmel (IN)

2. Male vs. Floyd Central (IN)

3. Saint Xavier vs. 3A #2 DeSales

4. Simon Kenton vs. Henry Clay at Lafayette

5. North Hardin vs. 4A Waggener at Fairdale (8/24)

6. Manual vs. 4A #7 Central

7. Ballard at 5A Doss

8. Butler vs. 5A #6 South Warren at Western Kentucky University (8/24)

9. Fern Creek at Jeffersonville (IN)

10. McCracken County vs. 3A #7 Paducah Tilghman (8/24)

Between the Big 3, this should be an exciting season, as they are in different districts, yet still play each other.

From an outsider's perspective, I like it when T, X, and Male are all competitive with each other. It makes big school football more interesting for people outside of Louisville. During the times when Trinity has been head and shoulders above the rest, it's only fun for Trinity fans.

This will be a fun year in terms of the Big 3. I think each teams defense will be very good so it will come down which offense can be the most consistent and get better week to week. Ready for the season, and probably the most excited about a St. X team since 2012.

Trinity will have their hands full first game.

Indiana class 6A rankings published 8-12-19.

1) Carmel (IN)

2)Warren Central (IN)

3) Brownburg (IN)

4) Center Grove (IN)

5) Avon (IN)

Simon Kenton at #4? Didn't they lose to 1A Beechwood last year. Did they get a few big time transfers?

Last year defense wasn’t as good. They return 8 starters on defense this year. They also have good running back and return two receivers. QB is the question mark. On paper look better than last year. Will learn more about them in scrimmage against St.X tomorrow.

Yes, QB is the big question mark. Their defense might become one of the best in the state. Marksberry plays an aggressive attacking style defense. He has the experience and weapons to make this defense special.

I personally get sick of the big 3. 6A is as boring a class as we have in Kentucky football. I don’t blame the big 3 or the other schools the talent gap is just about impossible to overcome.

Do you also get sick of Beechwood, Mayfield, Belfry, Boyle County, Bowling Green, etc?
