The coaches of Madison Southern seemed very upset, and I'm not so sure that they have a reason to be.

Break-down:

Madison Southern drove for two touchdowns on their first to possesions of the game, giving them an early 14-0 lead. McCreary came back with a touchdown and a two-point conversation to cut it 14-8 at the half. Entering the second half, McCreary drove down field for another touchdown and two-point conversation, giving them the lead at 16-14. From there it was all defense - and the referees. Several calls for "pass interference" weren't called against the Madison Southern team, however were called against the Raiders. But, with MS driving deep into McCreary territory, a holding penalty negated yards. It didn't end there. Two consecutive unsportsman-like conduct penaltys were charged to Madison Southern and they looked at a 2nd and 40 or 50. Then, the coach of Madison Southern entered the middle of the field only to be walked off with no flag. However, the coach continued to yell and scream and Madison Southern was again handed an unsportsman-like conduct flag and they were very rattled. McCreary was able to hang on at the end and run the clock down after getting the ball back on a failed fourth-down attempt.

Fans and coaches:

Madison Southern had some very, very nice fans during the game. However, after the game, McCreary fans cheered their Raiders win only to be cussed, yelled, and had fingers pointed in their face by the opposing coaching staff and fans. Madison Southern fans and coaches became very, very immature and down-right embarassing. The assistant principal of McCreary Central had to break up what looked to become a fight between the coaching staff of the Eagles and the fans of McCreary Central.

Final thought:

Was a well-played game and could have ended very well. However, the fans and coaches of Madison Southern showed some very poor taste.

Good job Raiders. What kind of numbers did Watts put up tonight?

Had had a tough time to start and fumbled and was called for pass interference, but after that he really took off. He didn't allow one completion on defense to his man and made some very good running plays. He had atleast one of the Raiders touchdown, I'm not exactly sure if he had them both or if someone else got the first one.

Are you kidding???What game did you watch?? The referees actually took the game away from southern because they were OBVIOUSLY the better team. The refs called yards and yards and yards of penalties and gave the game to McCreary. Southern immediately and easily scored 14 points before the first quarter was up and then the refs got involved....flags, 10-20 yard penalties all night! We sat with some retired coaches who were neutral and they said in all their years of coaching, they had NEVER seen a game absolutely determined by the referees. The referees even waved and smiled at the Southern fans after they called penalty (and yes that is on video!). The McCreary players were nice. Their was no controversy with the players. It was all with the refs. Some of you will say...oh you can't blame it on the refs. Well, watch the video.....and by the way Madison Southern players were NEVER rattled!! In fact, the players were saying they couldn't even feel bad about the loss, they weren't beat by a better team and they didn't give the game away. It was an absolute joke by the referees. But McCreary can't take the refs everywhere they go......

The coaches were not pointing fingers or fighting with any fans! I can not believe you said a coach had a finger in a fans face! Everytime and NUMEROUS times over and over that southern got to the 10yd line, the refs started calling penalties to back Southern up. over and over again. It started the first quarter! At least 4-5 drives to the 10 -15 yard goal line was stopped by the refs , it happened over and over...

+Southern was passing the ball and running the ball wonderful all night but it wouldn't have mattered what they did, they were not going to win the game at McCreary. If Southern had LOST this game the coaches would have been dissapointed with the players but they weren't. They told the kids, they played great tonight. they did what they asked them to do. No complaints.

Wow, will Southern win a game this year?

If you had seen this game tonight (maybe you could watch it on video, you may be from Richmond...not that you would want to) But if you did, you would see that McCreary did not beat Southern, the refs did. The other games this season, Southern was not near playing their potential, but no one ever said a word about refs changing any of the games, but tonight was a different story, unlike any games I've watched in many years. And yes, Southern is playing better, offense was moving the ball ALL night. They have their best lineman and runningback back next week, along with some others who have been out. The season isn't over yet.

And, about your comment...not knowing what the Southern coaches could be upset about...how about 175 yards of penalties called against Southern!! Yep, that would do it!
