Ex-referee Tim Donaghy blows whistle on NBA dirty secrets

Donaghy claims he was told that two refs who were “company men” acting in the interest of the NBA conspired to extend a playoff series in 2002 to a seventh game.

 

Lakers and Kings went to 7 games that year...

It honestly wouldn't surprise me at all if there was a conspiracy in the NBA when it comes to certain playoff series.

He's tough to believe except that people already believe that this type of stuff goes on. How in the world does Joey Crawford almost get kicked out of the league for having a big time beef w/ Tim Duncan, but call the biggest game in the Spurs series in the conference finals just 1 year later? Then he swallows his whistle in a 2 point game and the NBA later admits that he blew that call. The NBA is almost as shady as this ref.

The NBA is a business, games go to 7 for a reason. I would almost bet that this years finals wind up going 7 even after LA has been down 2-0. So I believe him even though he is a loser...

I believe shady stuff happens in the NBA from both players and refs, especially in regular season meaningless games. Playoffs probably just the refs and lot less because all eyes are on the game.
