Still haven't seen the hypocrisy.

Was I old enough to vote on whether the lottery needed to be in the system? Don't remember me voting on that.

Was I old enough to make a decision on horse racing in KY? Don't remember that either.

Where have I (or many of the other anti-gambling crew) made a decision that those things are okay and casino gambling is not?

I like the way you completely skipped over the part of my quote werein I reminded you that you were never mentioned as part of the discussion. So let me reiterate (a little louder):

I don't remember mentioning you by name.

I wasn't trying to fit any situation, just pointing out another person who steadfastly stood with their position despite all the evidence that they were in the wrong position.
Again, the game ain't over. Hard to be wrong on an open-ended discussion.

Nice decision by the lawwmakers. This never needed to get to a popularity vote. The right thing to do is not always the most popular thing to do.

As Piers said on Celebrity Apprentice last night, it was a business competition not a popularity contest. Same with this. For the benefit of KY, long term, it was the right thing to defeat this.

How is this the right thing? Now all of those potential tax dollars are going to Indiana and local poker games. Think of the money this state could have had...

So your against a democracy of the people?

I will play your game.

Let's put the posting of the 10 commandments up on public property to a vote. If it passes, they go up for good. You willing to do that?

How about gay marriage, let's put that up to a vote nationwide and if it fails, the debate on it ends and it is forgotten about.

Let's put the issue up to a vote by the public that Christianity and Jesus Christ should be the NATIONAL religion of this country. Let's let the people have what they want.

I would almost say let's put the abortion issue up to vote and if it passes, than abortion is illegal. You willing to go by whatever the majority says???

If you are not willing to let the public vote on these issues and then give the people what they want, than those pro-gambling crusaders who say let's just put it up to a vote are hypocrits. BUT, I am not calling anyone out by name by saying that. If any of you who have been arguing on that side feel that I am, well I am not, I am just making a point about your side of the issue.

Another funny thing about this mantra about just let the people decide with a vote....many who are/were against Prop 20 are the ones calling for letting the people decide.

And when the HS's in KY voted on that issue and OVERWHELMINGLY went FOR Prop 20, they wanted to throw that decision OUT because we could not give the HS's what THEY VOTED FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yet here they stand asking why it is wrong on letting the people this affect decide.

Why was it wrong to not give the HS's what they voted for???????????

If I am being hypocritical, I am surely not the only one on here.

You called all anti-gambling forces hypocrits.

So true! Total hypocrisy by the so-called "anti-gambling" forces.

Would you consider me to be an anti-gambler based upon our discussions? If not, than I was wrong to be offended by it and you can disregard the post at the bottom. If you would, then keep reading.

Hypothetically, if I called all Highlands fans obnoxious, arrogant know-it-alls, would you be offended? EVEN if I did not mention you by name?????

What gets me are all of the conservatives who want lower taxes and less goverment interference and regulation who are giddy over this. If people should be allowed to do what they want, why are we worrying about the moral evils of casino gambling.

To add to BF's points - I believe that our state is hypocritical for allowing two types of gambling but not a third.

On the first, I am concerned about the economic damage it does to families.

On the latter, the way you stated it, makes it more platable. BUT, have we as present day voters been asked to decide whether the other two forms of gambling are something we would like for this state to be involved with?

If those issues come up and this state votes to keep the other two legal while keeping the third outlaw, I think hypocrit would be a very good word to use. But till the voters of today have that option, why are we hypocrits unless you say we must be tied to the votes of the past.

If I disagree with a stance my mother and father took when they voted on it in the 80's, does that make me a hypocrit???

I am supposedly tied to every POLITICAL decision they ever made and if I don't agree with it, than label me a hypocrit? I don't get that.

Like I tell my parents all the time, I don't make decisions based upon my pocketbook. I am not driven by the almighty dollar.

And I don't tell like to tell others what they can and can not do with their money. If they want to spend it gambling, more power to them. They can gamble on horse races, on the internet, and with the lottery and scratch off tickets every day...but to play some slots they have to drive to Indiana? How does that make sense?

True. But you keep using the word "I" in ways that have nothing to do with what I'm actually saying. But the point is, as long as you allow bingo, the lottery, and horse racing...and you do so by enjoying anything and everything in the state that benefits from these activities...you engage in hypocrisy by opposing expanded gaming. As I said though, I'm not letting you make this sound like a you vs. me kind of thing.

Did I get to have a say on horse racing?

Did I get to have a say on Internet gambling?

Did I get to have a say on lottery? (I don't believe I was old enough to vote when that issue came through)

But I do get a say on this one by contacting my representatives, up to this point?

Are you implying that I should not use that right to have my say but simply do what all my ancestors have done?
