March 28, 200818 yr It's very hypocritical that I could get some investors together and start up a Horse Racing track right now or an off-track betting site but I can't open a casino? This isn't about expanded gambling, it's about casino gambling. There is nothing stopping the expansion of some forms of gambling.
March 28, 200818 yr LBBC, whats wrong with letting the people vote on this?Because the vast majority of them would vote the "wrong" way. :sssh:
March 28, 200818 yr But those societal negatives are already available. This hasn't prevented anything other then Kentucky dollars staying in Kentucky. But I listed research in another thread that called casino gambling "like crack for gamblers." More highly addictive than lottery and horse racing. Research shows that the visual nature of casino gambling causes more problems than the others. AND while available, it is neither easily available or readily available. For those in Maysville for example, it would be a 90 minute to 2 hour drive. They get their own casino and it becomes a stop home from work after picking up their check rather than a planned trip. That makes for even more of an issue for those that have problems with gambling.
March 28, 200818 yr Because most of them would vote the "wrong" way. :sssh: No, they would vote the "right" way. double:sssh::lol:

And again, you are asking people to make decisions on issues that the governor has not asked them to make. They were asked one question. Should we have casino gambling? That is the ONLY issue they are considering. No hypocrisy there.
March 28, 200818 yr Few years later they were able to rectify that mistake of bowing to the popular vote.Don't worry; a few things will be "rectified" in the next election.
March 28, 200818 yr The State of Indiana is CLEANING UP on Casino revenue. They seem to have all their moraly fibers intact. Maybe you should move there if Kentucky is so inhibiting.
March 28, 200818 yr Maybe you should move there if Kentucky is so inhibiting. Why is it that everytime someone doesnt like the way their state, or country is being run; conservatives tell them to leave if they dont like it. I would prefer to stay and see things change. I am not one of these hollywood liberals that said they were going to Canada if Bush won a second time. I am not a quitter.
March 28, 200818 yr And again, you are asking people to make decisions on issues that the governor has not asked them to make. They were asked one question. Should we have casino gambling? That is the ONLY issue they are considering. No hypocrisy there. Absolute hypocrisy, when you allow other, more pervasive, forms of gambling. It's really pointless to have this whole discussion over again. I believe that expanded gambling is destined to happen. It's just a matter of time...
March 28, 200818 yr Don't worry; a few things will be "rectified" in the next election. Can I count on that as much as when you said casino gambling would pass?
March 28, 200818 yr Maybe you should move there if Kentucky is so inhibiting. People are moving! That is the sad thing:cry: Oh-well, again I think that I might have won the lottery, did anyone do the mid-day drawing?
March 28, 200818 yr People are moving! That is the sad thing:cry: Oh-well, again I think that I might have won the lottery, did anyone do the mid-day drawing? Nope but I'm going to buy a Powerball ticket later.
March 28, 200818 yr Can I count on that as much as when you said casino gambling would pass?I was right then...and I'm right now. It will pass.
March 28, 200818 yr Nope but I'm going to buy a Powerball ticket later. Isn't Keeneland opening up soon? We ought to go, of course this is totally different then going to a Casino, I mean, I am not putting a wedge on something that has the possibility of earning more money, or in many of my cases losing it:cry: Luckily, I got the state legislature to decide that I don't have a choice to vote on such an important issue! Hyprocrites (sp), my state legislature wanted to mandate morality, or in this case did, they need to take a long look in the mirror, before they start casting their stones
