True. But you keep using the word "I" in ways that have nothing to do with what I'm actually saying. But the point is, as long as you allow bingo, the lottery, and horse racing...and you do so by enjoying anything and everything in the state that benefits from these activities...you engage in hypocrisy by opposing expanded gaming. As I said though, I'm not letting you make this sound like a you vs. me kind of thing.

Cool:cool: I can live with that and am fine with it.

Onto your point. I posted the below in response to Halfbaked or is that halfback;) (I am absolutely kidding if it this offends, let me know and I will quickly edit it out) and think it is germane to your point.

Did this voting public get to have a say on horse racing?

Did this voting public get to have a say on Internet gambling?

Did this voting public get to have a say on lottery? (I don't believe many was old enough to vote when that issue came through)

But does this voting public get a say on this one by contacting their representatives, up to this point?

Are you implying that they should not use that right to have their say but simply do what all their ancestors have done?

Would you like to have a say? Are you saying you should be able to vote on whether or not it is legal?

At least those people had the option of voting...

I don't get offended that easily. Halfbaked is a very good movie :D. All in good fun.

It is legal now and I think it would be a mess of a society if we kept trying to bring up each and every issue that was made legal or illegal. Sometimes I guess it has to be done but for the sake of society to deal with other issues, I wouldn't be for consistently bringing things up and trying to change them.

Sometimes yes because they are too vital of an issue. Abortion would be an example.

I am not sure that they had the option. Did anyone have a vote on whether Internet gambling is legal???? Think that one was just thrown on us wasn't it? I have no clue on how horse racing came about and whether it was decided for us or the public voted.

What gets me are all of the conservatives who want lower taxes and less goverment interference and regulation who are giddy over this. If people should be allowed to do what they want, why are we worrying about the moral evils of casino gambling.

To add to BF's points - I believe that our state is hypocritical for allowing two types of gambling but not a third.

Before you paint with to broad a brush please be assured that ALL of the conservatives that post on this board are not "giddy" over this development.

Yeah because all liberals and democrats on this board aren't painted with that very broad brush.

Sarcasm off.

It's not nearly as dead as some of you hope it is....I, for one, hope it goes through, I also think that it will, without question. The only variale is how long.

Isn't it officially DOA for this year...and next?

I agree that it will eventually be passed though.

Probably poorly worded on my part. I did not mean that ALL conservatives feel that way (very few of ALL people in any group feel a certain way). I meant that for those that do. :thumb:

There was an article in our paper, that it woul likely come back up next year. The Governor was disappointed that it didn't go through, but mentioned that he liked that it was given discussion, which had never happened before.

Sounds good! :thumb:

IMO -- maybe I'm wrong about this but I just don't understand how you have all of these states across the nation that have casinos, state lottery, and race tracks and probably other forms of gambling and they seem to be doing fine. What is the big deal if we had all of this? I mean isn't the state tired of watching their residence money go across to other states. The way things are going Ohio will have casinos before we do.

Because if we pass casino gambling the fires of hell will swallow up Kentucky! Horse racing and bourbon are okay but slot machines were invented by Satan and using them will curse your immortal soul! Now where did I put my glass of Knob Creek and racing bill?

You forgot tobacco.

Don't forget your scratch off and powerball tickets.
