When did you figure out you were old?

When I stopped laughing at guys taking Viagra and started listening to what they have to say about it instead. (j/k)

 

When I hired a new receptionist two weeks ago who was born in 1983, the year I graduated high school.

 

Everytime I stand up and listen to the pops, cracks and other noises coming from my knees, ankles, back and other undisclosed locations of my body.

I've had white hair since my mid-20s, and starting when I was about 35 I've been offered senior discounts at golf courses, restaurants, and other establishments. I'm 53 now, still not a senior. So, I've been going through this for going on 20 years:irked:....and all my buddies get a kick out of it.

BTW, I have never accepted a discount.

 

Another incident, at an Applebees in Lexington after a UK game, around 12:30. Some guy who looked college age (and was drunk) asked me in the restroom what I was doing out so late, did I sneak out of the nursing home. If I hadn't felt so old I would have punched him out.:fight:

I do not really feel old until I start talking about graduating high school 15 years ago!

One thing amoung many others that will send a message is when the kids that you coached in youth sports have kids of their own and were then coaching them. Plus.............those kids that I coached kids are now playing h.s. ball and some have graduated.

 

Some other eye openers would be....When a kid I was coaching ask me who is "Pistol pete Maravich"?......and one of the all time indicators, "Did you really use Wooden Bats"? (I wanted to kick the kid off the team - LOL)

 

I need a nap.....(LOL)

There were several moments of enlightenment:

 

When I started noticing gray hair...no longer attached.

 

The first time the girl at the drive-thru called me "sir".

 

When I realized that all my favorite songs could now be found on the same oldies station that my parents used to drive me crazy with.

 

When I found out that (at least) one of my high school classmates has grandchildren -- that's freakin' scary right there!

 

When I stopped getting junk mail from the Army, Sports Illustrated, and various colleges; and started getting junk mail from Miracle Ear, AARP, and various funeral homes.

Ok most of the other posts have somewhat been related to me in some way. But being old is having your grandchild graduate from high school. :sssh: But on the plus side I do enjoy all the senior discounts. ! ! !:thumb:

Well, maybe this isn't when I felt old, as in age(I'm just 28), but felt bodily old.

 

As some of you know, I played football for UK, and the Lexington Horsemen. Boy was I in premium physical shape.

 

I found out how it felt to be old, I found out I wasn't what I used to be, when I tried to pick up my 25 pound year old son, and my back went out. I was out of commission for three days.:cry: Had to take as much Vioxx as Roger Clemens to be able to even sleep.

I was at the bank a couple of weeks ago with my wife. (who is about 4 years youger than me.) She was ahead of me, cashing her check, when the teller asked her if she had an account there. My wife told her that she didn't, and the teller pointed at me and said.

 

"What about your father, does he have one here?"

 

I was NOT amused!!:madman:
