Riverside 157
In the spirit of the KHSAA: All of the kids who played on teams which participated in the first round of the playoffs. Many of these teams were beaten severly. Im sure the playoff experience will be one that they remember for the rest of their lives as a most enjoyable and rewarding experience. Im sure they will hold the fondest of memories recalling the 50+ - 0 loss thorughout their lifetime. Just remember, it for the KIDS.....
Jim Schue
And going full circle, I ask this about going to six classes... What does it hurt? The quality of competition, as many others have noted. Do you enjoy sitting through blowouts?
gamer31
I disagree. If the KHSAA only wanted to make money they very easily could've implemented something similar to what they do in Ohio. Take out your expenses ONLY, and send the rest to the OHSAA. They could've said semi's only and made more money than adding two state finals, IMO... Any way you look at it, they still got 2 more classes which will still generate a 1/3 more revenue than it did last year.
thsrocks
The officials, of course. So many games. More pay for playoff games. The trophy supplier as well. The KHSAA should make a little more with 6 games instead of 4 at the slice. The kids and the schools as a whole. More excitement. Even though many of the semi-finalist have been there before, DeSales, Central, Lone Oak.....Meade County..they all benefitted from the extra games, extra practice time, etc.
98NCCalum
Newcath and Beechwood--now they each can win a state championship instead of taking turns eliminating each other in the quarterfinals. :thumb:
Noble
So the real questions are, did more kids benefit from making the playoffs when they wouldn't have in the past? Or, did more kids suffer from making the playoffs when they wouldn't have in the past? More kids playing more football is a good thing. Which is why the other sports need to be classed as well. Noble
Like, say, the kids at Fort Knox or Butler (or any of the other 0-10 and 1-9 schools that made the playoffs), who had to go through painful first-round playoff blowouts, adding an exclamation point on what was already a difficult winless season? that's true too....... which is why Basketball should be classed instead of having MASSIVE blow-outs in the playoffs like they have been having for YEARS! Eaglenation
I agree 100%. More kids have oppurtunity to be noticed. Which leads to more educated populus. Football players are warriors, they need to be educated.
