Who benefitted most under the six-class system?

Featured Replies

Greenup County, Boyd County, and Lawrence County received a tremendous boost from the 6-class system.

Their previous district (3A in 2006) included the following teams:

Johnson Central

Ashland Paul Blazer

Mason County

Their new district (4A in 2007) included the following team:

Rowan County

(This is in no way an attack on Rowan County football -- on the contrary, it is the realization of removing 3 terrific football programs from the district lineup.)

the EAST region in class A. Because they moved Beechwood to the west with Mayfield.

Oldham County-Not having to play Trinity, Ballard, Fern Creek,Shelby Co. etc... in the playoffs.

Newcath and Beechwood--now they each can win a state championship instead of taking turns eliminating each other in the quarterfinals.

You beat me to it, so true

AAA Trophy Company will be the biggest winner in the new six class system!

Overall, I like the 6 class system. I think that it is good for the kids. There are a couple of things that probably need to be looked at for a little tweaking. I don't like the fact that teams that were winless made the playoffs.

For everyone saying the kids then why stop at 6. Why not have 8 or 10 or 12 classes? Why not make it like t-ball and give everyone a trophy since it will give them wonderful experiences and life long memories.

I think the six class system stinks...Can you say "watered down"?? I would like a four class system where the winners and runners-up of their districts make the playoffs...I hate the T-Ball mentality also...:irked:

KHSAA has a new slogan..... "No team left behind in KY"

Here in the Moutains it had to be Letcher Central and Perrry Central. Both doormats in the old district. LCC made it to the region after being 1-4 in the old district last year, with their only win coming against Perry Central!!

I would have to go with Hazard. I think that they have a good team, but they have had the easiest road to the State of any team. I don't agree with this new format. If you look at the teams that Hazard and Lex Christian have faced ( no disrespect to the teams they played) you would have to consider that probably the easiest road to the finals that any 1A team has ever faced. I personally think that this new format will hurt Kentucky Football more than it will help.

The kids.

Like, say, the kids at Fort Knox or Butler (or any of the other 0-10 and 1-9 schools that made the playoffs), who had to go through painful first-round playoff blowouts, adding an exclamation point on what was already a difficult winless season?

So the real questions are, did more kids benefit from making the playoffs when they wouldn't have in the past? Or, did more kids suffer from making the playoffs when they wouldn't have in the past?
