98NCCalum
I see the violation regarding the phone calls and coaches, but I don't see anything that covers fans contacting players. Considering the phone call thing is on the lowest level of secondary violations. That being a Level II secondary violation... The UK thing was a secondary violation so it couldn't have been any less.... Kentucky says fans' web postings are NCAA violation 7/19/2006 By C. Ray Hall The Louisville Courier-Journal In a new twist on an old story, some University of Kentucky basketball fans have crossed over the line in their zeal to pack the team's roster with blue-chip prospects. This time, the line is in cyberspace. But it's clear enough that Kentucky plans to report itself to the NCAA for a secondary rules violation, school spokesman Scott Stricklin said Wednesday. 98NCCalum
People blew off the MySpace thing as frivolous and minor, now, IU committs the same level infraction and Sampson is a lying cheating clown who should be fired. Hilarious.
stickymitts
Preseason #9 (AP Poll) and just signed the #20 guard in the country for 08 to go with the #2 guard who has been committed. God, what a mess!:lol::lol::lol::lol: Irrelevant to the fact that they fired Knight not because of his record but for his actions off the court and ignoring the authority of the school. So, only a couple of years later they hire a guy who obviously has the same problem with authority, sense he committed the same violation twice. This is like UC firing Huggins and hiring Sutton... Also, how long was Knight there with zero NCAA infractions? How long has Sampson been there? So, referring to LBBC's post. Knight's laughing all the way to the HOF... I've never liked Sampson and probably never will, even if he ended up at UNC...which would never happen.

letabrotherspeak
You guys do realize that these violations that have you all in a tizzy are on the same secondary level as the MySpace debacle of last year with UK correct?  Are these what some of you are referring to as this being minor issues? 98NCCalum
Are these what some of you are referring to as this being minor issues? Yes the violations are minor infractions. The fact that he lied about it or withheld information about them is what made them become a major infraction. Nice try though.

Nice try though. The end result is that IU has been charged with Major Violations within their basketball program--the rest is just semantics. By the way do you still feel this way? Ya know, having a top 10 recruiting class, leading the Big 10, and being ranked 1 spot outside the Top 10 in both polls realllllllllly sucks. STRIKE3
Seems to be a reoccurring theme with Sampson. Is the position, which the NCAA is taking a result of the numerous violations unreported or the less than honest self-admission. IU has a very good team and hope this doesn't affect the players too much, with the distractions.
Xtiger69
Sampson has had one minor infraction while at IU. Wow!!! Can we please deport him! He will be deported very soon indeed. Who going to be the next coach? I say bring back Bobby to finish the season and right the ship.

westsider
People blew off the MySpace thing as frivolous and minor, now, IU committs the same level infraction and Sampson is a lying cheating clown who should be fired. Hilarious. A "violation" committed by overzealous fans is hardly comparable to violations knowingly committed by a coaching staff already under warning for similar, previous transgressions. The most hilarious thing about it is your attempt to justify it and compare it to the MySpace thing ... you might want to take off those red-colored glasses on occasion and see things through an unfiltered lens. UKPat02
98, I just don't understand how you can keep shirking this saying it's only a "secondary infraction." As true as that may be, how can you put it on the same level with UK's MySpace issue? UK cannot control what a handful of idiot fans do, but the IU administration is paying Sampson to lead this team and the university in a dignified manner. He has shown blatant disregard for rules in more than one of his coaching stops. If you're a true IU fan, how can you sit around and defend a guy who obviously has no ethics or morals? If you want to defend the university, then so be it. Defend the team? Of course. But why are you still in the Sampson boat? He's obviously a sleezebag.
