I believe this is the part that some don't understand. It's not just a change from a few years ago, it goes way back. Most of the Holmes folks will agree with this. It's just been something attached to Holmes for many years, all the negative stereotypes and silly joking and ribbings us Holmes fans have heard over the years. After awhile you just learned to laugh it off and ignore most of it. When a call went against Elliott Co. on saturday morning and 18 of the 19 thousand fans booed, it was no surprise really, just normal for Holmes. As a fan who has tried to follow Holmes as much as I could over the years, I knew there was something different about Holmes in 2008. I could not believe how disciplined they were on the court. Honestly, even back in the glory days 78, 79, 80's I didn't remember those Teams being so disciplined. When I said I noticed something different last year, I had no idea that Holmes could be playing in the State Championship game. Not only were they different, they were/are special as well. And even though they lost to a great Mason Co. Team, they made us fans proud. In 2009 they had that target on their back from day one and were able to do something that takes talent, Coaching, and lots of discipline. So yes, for this Holmes fan, this kind of news gives me cold chills. Coach Henley, what else can you say? He has meant so much to the Holmes Community.

I agree, all though I haven't seen him play yet, have only heard positive things about his game. I wonder how often he thinks about that missed FT in that big game against the State Champs? If he's the competivive player I think he is, he's probably shot 10,000 ft's since then.

I'm not sure who will run the point for Holmes next year, but I don't believe Johnson will be their primary PG. As of right now, I would guess Pierre Mayfield has the best chance to replace Riley. Yes, Ricardo Johnson will play some point, but imo, probably the same role as last year. As far as other PG's around the State, I did get to see Polson and Justice in the sweet 16 and liked both alot, with a slight edge to Justice. Haven't got to see Kellen Smith play yet, but will make it a priority next year. Almost forgot, doesn't Lexington Catholic have young PG who was pretty darn good, and Lou. Cental as well? Their names escape me right now.

I have a feeling our Ky boys aren't going to do so well against the In. Team. I know they will play hard and I wish them well, but...

I hear ya, it just seems like this tourny gets rained out alot. I always try to catch a game or two when it doesn't, Doc was a great umpire and a better man.
