Final.  Carroll County scores 3 times in the 2nd half to break open the game in defeating Covington Holy Cross 35-6.  Lots of big plays in this one.  QB Samuel Oldham goes 11-24 for 201 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT.  RB Zayn Satchwell runs 22 times for 213 yards and 3 TDs.  For Holy Cross, Landyn Phillips had the lone score, but it was the duo of the future who also did nicely (QB Thomas Maddox and WR Devonte Ryan).

Here is a snapshot summary of the game:

The future for Holy Cross will be completely dependent on three things:

1.   Their ability to grow their middle school program and keep those kids at Holy Cross District High School.
2.  Find players who WANT to play defense. The Indians too often get pushed around on defense and tonight was no exception.
3. Get an offensive line that can sustain blocks long enough to allow the offense to do…anything?

This team returns a lot next year…if they choose to return. Hope they do.

The Indians held it close in the first half then just ran out of gas.  They had several injuries and kids out sick this week that killed their already lack of depth.  If they can keep their middle school team going and keep those kids at Holy Cross for high school they will be in a decent position to finally rebuild from graduating basically their entire team 6? years ago.  They are only graduating 4 this year so will have some experience coming back.

The middle school program is the overall linchpin to me. Cannot have a successful HS program nowadays without a pipeline IMO. Glad they got that back up and running.

I fully agree about middle school programs. It’s practically a requirement now for consistency and growth.
