  1. That’s what I saw too. If he would have had any support the game might have been closer down the stretch. He was literally the ONLY Colonel inside the 3 pt line on numerous possessions in 4th qtr. It was baffling to watch.
  2. Will be an interesting year for the Beechies. Year 2 will put the 🐐 Rash era really in the rear view. Add to it the loss of legend and another 🐐 Coach B and a new era will definitely begin. Looking forward to seeing the boys hang another banner. The talent is there. My key for the season is simple. Balance. Chics dig the long ball, it’s sexy. But the banners on the Gordon Hood Fieldhouse were mostly hung by ground and pound, dominating/punishing running games, which in turn controlled the time of possession, which enabled the defense to be fresh and to dominate the games. The explosiveness will still remain, at any moment, but restoring Balance is my key to another ring IMO. Also my dark horse breakout player is Bo Sowder. Heaven forbid an injury open that door but if so the All State Good Hands award will be on full display. Is it August yet? Let’s go!!!!
  3. Harney led Beechwood as QB to I believe a 6-1 start as a freshman, against the hardest part of their schedule, and was pulled for an unproven QB at that time. With no time as QB1 in preseason. Fast forward 2 years and same damn thing could happen to the kid again? Crazy. Proven winner. How can you NOT start there?
  4. Definitely earned every bit of that Championships. Congrats Mayfield!
  5. Catching up on the thread over coffee and I’m literally reading Mayfield fans complaining about refereeing? Come on folks, don’t taint a good victory for you. It’s a bad light. And can’t believe folks are second guessing the coaching but my two cents on the OT or going for it. Ya gotta go for it. On the road at Mayfield? You got to. You just can’t throw an INT across the middle like that. Take the deep shots to the speedsters but can’t end on a play like that. Even if he hits an Beechie time then becomes a factor with how much real estate was left to go. INT aside Mayfield running game wins that in OT. Had to go for it. great game. Another classic. Red Helmet video……. you killed it. THANK YOU. Bring the hardware back to Mayfield fellas……
  6. Loving the Red Helmet crew. Doing a great job fellas. What a game.
  7. Saddle Club locked and loaded for Friday night. They got everything setup and tested tonight. They are good to go for Friday. Ft. Mitchell will be rocking. #instantclassic
  8. Shaping up to be another classic. Someone monitor that water bill at the stadium though. With this forecast hopefully it won’t need the usual watering to slow folks down like it did last time Beechwood was there. 😎 come on, laugh it’s funny. Good luck to both teams and Congrats on another classic to be….
  9. Lots of comments on here about this years Beechwoods D. While the amount of pts given up is an attention grabber it’s still Simple to me. We are spoiled. The past few years of BW teams on Defense absolutely spoiled everyone. They were arguably the best HS defensive unit 3 years running and have the hardware to prove it. Considering the size of classes (2A vs the world), and overall size of players, you witnessed greatness. Level set folks. The kids now are gonna be just fine and they have talent too. They are replacing many parts, a 🐐 coach, have a new scheme, and just need some time. Keep rolling Tigers, and get well soon X!
  10. Lot of hype from Dixie folks all off season. Guessing it made it on the Pioneers Bulletin Board. Hope they rebound quickly and get on track. Lot of football left.
  11. Waddell was the heartbeat of that Defense. Many great kids and players on the 3peat Defenses, but no one could stick a hole like him. Great move this year putting X there but looking back to last year is a non discussion to me. Can’t wait to see him roam around this year. Have to think he will be rushing from all over with his speed and quickness.
  12. Huge, huge loss. What he did for our kid, unreal. Not only prepped him for D1 football, but when he got there, walked into weight room already as one of the strongest on the team. Will never be able to repay him for what he did. Wishing Logan all the best. Remember his name, you’ll hear it for a long time in football around here…….
  13. I just can’t help myself. If anyone thinks that a basketball coach at a school with a successful football program encourages kids to play both is a fool. Any school, not just Park Hills. They may not say it but none, not one of them, would be happy getting their players in December vs November if they were being honest. Now, do I think they are fine with the kids choosing too, yes. I can’t see coaches literally telling kids they can’t do both. But I also feel if the talent pool is deep enough at said school those kids joining in December may never see the hardwood due to the late start. The team will move on. Just my opinion, but it’s just a chance a kid takes playing football. If your team makes a run to state, you’re giving another basketball players 4-5 weeks to take your spot……..
  14. Haven’t heard Rick’s name in a long time. Great basketball mind IMO. Very interesting thought there.
  15. For me, the talent in the locker room gives anyone a fighting chance at success. You start there. Taking this fella’s name out, anyone following Rash was going to have a big uphill battle. His success was legendary and undeniable. New fella will have the support of the incumbent staff from what we’ve all heard, so that should help and give him a leg up. But that could also be a hindrance if he wants his footprint on his program. Will be interesting to watch unfold. Biggest factor for me will be can he handle the internal workings and expectations of the job? Reading past the Wins/Losses, and coming from Elder, should be aware of whats ahead and will handle. All you “in the know” folks please let him know he can always put his drinks on my tab at the Saddle. I wish him all the best and hope the banners keep hanging.
  16. As usual, you know it all. Even who to call to complain about my comments. Love how fast you work behind the scenes. Invitation still stands for the hot tub show let’s gooooo!!!! 😜
  17. Baffled. This resume is very suspect considering on staff personnel were declined interviews based on lack of experience. Wow. Get the popcorn.
  18. Loving all the free press for the Saddle Club. Keep it coming!
  19. Wish Cash all the best wherever he lands. Can’t imagine why CCH would be a good fit though. But that is a decision for him and his family, not us. And this is no surprise to me. After getting benched in football after running thru the gauntlet, stabilizing and helping lead them to 5-1, for a QB that had never took a varsity snap, the way it was done, no surprise. Kid loves football, and wants to play, not stand on sidelines. Good luck young fella. Focus on you and the three years ahead. 👍🤜💪
  20. I’ll say this. I was blown away at how those kids look for coaching from the stands and not their bench. It spoke volumes watching the buzzer sound and every player running to him to celebrate, and not the bench. That being said, I’m old school. Guess it’s the new way……..
  21. From where I sat and watched, McClendon was really the only adult on the floor leading kids. I’m not trying to put him on a pedestal, but everyone else was in the melee itself and I noticed him trying to separate adults from each other. He also stayed on the floor to make sure nothing else popped up, as well as talked to a Newport Administrator after both teams had entered the locker room. And spot on. The adults in the room have taken the spotlight from anyone talking about the game. Very sad.
  22. I was there. Was honestly watching two players in the handshake line, waiting for them to exchange. Knew something was gonna happen but was shocked it was the coaches going at each other. And it wasn’t a minor as some are describing. It was an initial confrontations, a secondary scuffle, and a third. And from where I was sitting, the majority of both staffs conducted themselves shamefully. I will say Kudos to Andre McClendon for keeping his composure. I saw him actually at the Newport bench talking with admin folks afterwards, doing what seemed to be what a HEAD coach should be doing. Making sure everything was alright. Black eye on an otherwise great day for 9th region basketball……..
  23. I think what I posted earlier is being taken a little too far. No one is saying that kids should select the coach, definitely not me. First for all to understand is BW is a legit program. This isn’t a “kids want someone or they are leaving” scenario. This is the search for the next Noel Rash, Yeager, Barre. The players are there. The backing is there. The facilities are there. Don’t over complicate things. Ya’ll citing X & Os and Head Coaching experience as the basis of hiring are missing the overall point. My son, a product of the program, knows everyone in that building / staff. He has also seen the inside of two D1 programs now, and is a pretty good judge of football. I shared HIS opinion on the matter since we have 17 pages of adults sharing theirs. Hands down he had one recommendation. One. Successful teams have many strong component. In sports and life in general. A strong component doesn’t make a leader. The Beechwood HC job is a leader more in either than anything else IMO. What. A. Fun. Topic. 😎
