Beachwood steps up another class in opponents for their home open Friday night when they host 6A Campbell County. Kickoff at Beechwood is always 7:30.

In week one the Tigers traveled to Corbin and defeated 5A Pulaski County 28-27. That game was closer than many expected it to be and went down to the wire.

Campbell County had no issues with their 5A opponent in their first game, defeating Scott 63-27.

This could be a shootout. What do you expect to see in this one?

I voted for Beechwood but hoping for a Camel upset.

Unless Campbell County got better from last year I see the same result this year! 

It has potential to be a good game in my opinion, I’ll take Beechwood.

Yeah they did but it’s only one game this year. 

You take out the first TD drive where Beechwood played a 3 man front and then a 82 yard TD where Beechwood missed 2 open field tackles and the defense actually played pretty good.  Most teams will try to run the football on Beechwood and control the clock so I think the 4 man front will be much more effective against the run.  The big kid from Moeller made a big difference when he was in the game on defense.  Offense looked a little out of synch early.  Hayden missed a few throws that he usually doesn’t miss.  He still played a great game.  I think Beechwood puts a running clock on Campbell this week.

If anyone knows players from Beechwood’s 1974 and 1984 teams, the school with be honoring both teams at halftime.  Meet for pregame in the school’s commons at 6:30.

I keep reading the defense is an issue at Beechwood. Not fair in my eyes. IMO Problem is that most are grading these teams the last few years against what will probably be one of the best all time High School stretches of team defense in NKY history. The ‘21 & ‘22 teams were loaded on defense and possessed the ball with a punishing ground game on offense. Quite possibly their best asset on defense. They controlled the clock, did what they wanted. Quick scores, yes. But they ran the ball. They dominated controlling the ball. And the clock ran a lot with them.  Different times with Rash gone.  It’s a passing focused offense now from what I’ve seen. Quick scores still happen, but stop the clock. As do incompletions. Give these kids a chance to grow. Grade them against themselves in the Win columns. It’s a passing offense now, and an explosive one. Time will tell.  That’s my take at least. ✌️ #GoBeechies
