Covington Catholic 49 Beechwood 28

Featured Replies

Cov Cath scores the first two touchdowns, the Beechwood scores, Colonels score again, and Beechwood ends the scoring for first half with a 96 yard kickoff return for a touchdown to make the score 20-14.

Beechwood scores on the opening drive of the second half to take the lead, 21-20. Then it's almost all Cov Cath for the second half, save for another kickoff returned for a touchdown by Beechwood to get the final touchdown of the game.

Give it a rest on the QB stuff brother. We all know you love Cash. And he can certainly run the ball, not saying he can't. But that isn't why CCH won this game. I agree with the rest of what you

Congrats CovCath!

That was a good game for the Tigers other than RPI.

Beechwood got out coached badly and it shows. I’m not sure what we’re doing when they line up under center with 2 backs in the backfield and tight end. They’ve ran that formation for years now and it’s about a run everytime yet we seem so surprised and let them gash us right up the middle and even on the edge a few plays. Someone’s gotta figure it out. Defense just looks confused and so slow reacting to everything. And how about putting your mike linebacker in man coverage on cch stud running back? What a failure tonight by the coaching staff

Yep, but I would rather take that zero RPI than play an Ohio team and win for zero.

Great game Cov Cath! Totally controlled the game from start to finish.

Zero punts in the game for CCH. Did they get to 500 yards rushing? It sure felt like it.

Lots of things for the Colonels to clean up. The KO philosophy needs to be rethought. Is it 19 of the last 23 that CovCath has won in the series now?

Except for when Beechwood took the lead in the 3rd quarter.

CCH was still in control. When your offense has not been stopped and you have run the same 4 plays all night, you are in control.

Tonight made 3 TD's scored against our special teams this season I think?

Agree to disagree. Don't know how a team is in control but trailing on the scoreboard.

Not to mention the field position consistently lost.

Because of a missed extra point?

If Beechwood had stopped CCH on that next drive, then I would say Beechwood put some doubt on them. But the Tigers didn't get the stop, CCH scored again and never looked back.

It is always good to test yourself. You find out your weaknesses.

- The run game is very dynamic for Cov Cath, the new runs we’ve added this year (ex. QB counter with the back leading) are noticeable. I think Harney, in particular, has really improved his vision even since the beginning of the season; he was setting up blocks beautifully. Gaiser is also such a good player with the ball in his hands. Easily the best back we’ve had since Casey Mac.

- Tate Kruer, Nick Krallman and Mason Dietz are all really nice senior players. When Dietz was out at Center it was very noticeable. All 3 guys should be quality NAIA/D2 players.

- I thought the secondary and coach TB had a great gameplan vs a very good QB. Only giving up 14 points to these guys is a job well done.

- Only negative was special teams smh…I mean we have to get better eventually right?

great night to beat the Tigers

Maybe CCH has BETTER PLAYERS. You can scheme any way you want, but players need to make plays. I'd imagine this is the Beechies last real test for a while.
