I believe I heard about 30, but I am not sure and of course you never know until official practice starts. That would be more than the last couple of years. Restarting the middle school program has helped and of course starting g to win some games has also.

I wonder what the NIL pay difference is between somewhere like Belmont and end of the bench of somewhere like UK. The reality is the great majority of this level of player are not going to get enough NIL to last a lifetime so will need to figure out a long term job plan. Are they better off hopping from place to place to place not establishing roots or loyalty to chase an extra buck or being the hero at a smaller program potentially getting a meaningful degree and establishing relationships that could lead to opportunities in the future? I love UK as much as the next person, but I have no loyalty to the merry-go-round of players that come and go. Purdue was led by four year players. That is so rare now, but I bet the Purdue faithful will make sure their guys are taken care of in the further

I would say if the player wants to come to UK knowing that they will have minimal playing time why not. They can have a 15 man roster no high-quality player wants to be nine through 15. Probably not even seven through 15. Why not use the last spot or two if a kid just wants to be part UK but they should obviously know their time will be minimal, and they are basically practiced fodder

Losing D’Myah really hurt but Coach Arlinghaus has never gone deep in the post season. Starting five play the great majority of the game with a 6th for breathers is about all he has used. It will really depend how they are shooting the three. That is how they beat Ryle earlier in the season. They will need to be lights out.

Is anyone else completely befuddled that the KHSAA changed the regional and state diving meets to 6 dives instead of 11, less than a month before regionals? They essentially change the game after teams had trained for months. The rationale was "to increase participation". In no other sport do you lower the bar much less mid-season because some areas of the state have a hard time competing with the NKY, Lex, and Louisville powerhouses. It would be the basketball equivalent of getting rid of the three-point line because some people don't shoot it well.

Agreed I personally know some people that the school disputed it and they did not get cleared and others from other schools that did get cleared. Obviously that is only one reason, but it seems to be one of the go to’s now.

If there have been any accusations of bullying by coaches or players, they can be cleared. Some schools fight it some do not.

Holy Cross will be playing at Scott due to a potential conflict at Thomas More.

Having another person with game experience is also helpful, if god forbid something happens to a star player. I don't think the score was unexpected, but letting your best player stat pad with 5 TDs against a far weaker opponent is kind of lame.

Funny but not wrong. I would guess it is the same for a lot of teams, but HC's kicking game has been decent the last 5-6 years because of soccer players. When my son was there, they asked the boys if any of them had friends on the soccer team who would kick. Practice if and when they have time, and then show up on Friday nights.

It looks like the difference in the game was kicking. Holy Cross made two extra points and a field goal. They made one two point conversion. Bracken County was unable to convert any extra points.

My daughter said some of the girls cleats started melting when they played on turf in July. I assume August would be similar. Turf can be 40+ degrees hotter than the ambient temperature. Aka dangerous if not life threatening to play on. That said the pros probably outweigh the cons for high schools that need them to run football, and soccer.

My daughter graduated this year and my husband coaches at the same school. She has friends in all grade levels and had a few football players not come to her grad party because "it is dead period and coach will be there". It is sad that the rules have to be so rigid because a few abuse them.

The diocese of Covington has an extended dead period. I am not sure when they started doing this, but it has been at least a decade.

The same thing happens in basketball all the time.
