Look I know Beechwood is a lot better than Owen but how do you score 68 anymore with the running clock I’ve literally seen losing teams take water breaks on the sideline and run off 5 minutes of game clock. I just don’t know how you get it in.

To start, after one offensive play, Beechwood was winning 21-0.

Returned the opening kickoff for a TD; Owen County punts and Beechwood returned the punt for a TD; Owen County 3 and out and Beechwood threw a 49 yard TD pass on their first offensive play of the game.

I don't think Beechwood had a scoring drive that took more than 5 plays all night. Tyler Fryman could not be tackled tonight. He had one sideline catch that he got pushed out of bounds. The other 5 times he touched the ball, he scored - 3 receiving TD's, a punt return TD and a 31 yard TD run out of wildcat formation.

Starters only played the first half.

I’m not sure when this one hit running clock, but I am a proponent of if you hit running clock before half, all remaining quarters are cut from 12 minutes to 8 or 6.  No need for a clearly outmatched team to suffer scoreboard humiliation. The physical onfield beating is bad enough. No need to have ridiculous box scores to be pulled up for eternity.

I don't know, a 2nd half where one teams JV can play the other teams varsity doesn't sound so bad.

I believe the running clock started with about 9 minutes left in the first half.

I disagree on shortening the quarters. A running clock moves fast. Let the other players who work their butts off every week get a good dose of game action.

Well the problem is when they start the running clock it’s really not a football game anymore they don’t have a play clock and it’s just silly really. I’ve seen a last play be ran with like 3 minutes left in the game because they just don’t line up anymore and the refs just let the clock run out. I’m not a proponent of teams beating other teams to death but come on it’s still a football game. Coach’s can control the score if they want to want to by playing all younger players and in the play calling. The problem is a lot of coaches don’t have the integrity to do this anymore so the KHSAA put in the running clock rule. I just hate changing the basic rules of the game and yes I hate the kickoff and extra point rules in the NFL and yes I believe a touchback of all kinds should still come to the 20. 

Since the KHSAA uses RPI we can do away with districts and therefore eliminate the majority of mismatches.  Let every team play a schedule that suits them.

I am the same way a lot of times.  However, one way or the other something needs to change with these games and again I think it is no longer requiring district play.  It is not a big leap. 

For those that did not see the game, BW only ran 20 plays on the night for 404 yards.  After being up 21-0 and having only run 1 offensive play, Coach Voelker had Fryman fair-catch multiple punts with clear turf there for big returns.  Coach obviously felt Tigers needed/deserved at least a few downs with offense on the field.  68 pts is a lot when only 20 plays are run by the offense.  Stay strong Owen County, great days ahead.

Well you know there comes a time if the other team is playing their least experienced players and only running the ball you might ought to get stops everyone gets so up in arms about how many points one team scores and truthfully do these kids really care I doubt any kid is going home at night and crying themselves to sleep because they got beat to bad. They are going to be doing teenager things after the game and really don’t care.

There has to be an alternative to what we’re doing currently. It’s bad for kids, bad for coaches, just overall gross.
