Transfer and Eligibility Rules

Featured Replies

How does a young lady that played varsity basketball at one Catholic school in NKY last year transfer to another Catholic school in NKY this year and be immediately eligible?  No change in address or any other logical reason that would normally be considered for immediate eligibility.  It seems like the KHSAA has no consistency in what they allow.

4. No recruiting comments or allegations of KHSAA rules violations by any school, coach, player or booster are allowed. No comments about where any player lives, has lived, or where they are from in a recruiting context. This is not the place to report KHSAA violations. Feel free to contact Kentucky High School Athletic Association | KHSAA – Student-athletes of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow to report such violations, but do not discuss violations here.

If there have been any accusations of bullying by coaches or players, they can be cleared.  Some schools fight it some do not.

To be clear this is one of several reasons that a player can be immediately cleared to play, but the earlier comment on "consistency" is spot on. Hence some momentum on the concept of 1 "free" transfer.

Agreed I personally know some people that the school disputed it and they did not get cleared and others from other schools that did get cleared. Obviously that is only one reason, but it seems to be one of the go to’s now.

A major part of it is if the school they are transferring from tries to fight it.  Also How do you move in or out of a school district for private schools?  Unlike county or non private schools for example how do you move into the LCA school district like you are required to move into the Henry Clay school district?  Obviously the private schools don't have school district that you can move into.

"The rules are, there are no rule" or consitentcy for sure. I'll assume some ADs/Coaches fight the transfer and some do not.

This post is spot on. And if the school in this case didn’t question or fight the reason for said transfer….that should tell you that they didn’t want to fight it or try to block it because there was plenty there and knew it was legit.

We had a young man in our region last season, play the first 10 games of the season at one school and transferred  to a school 8 miles away in the same county , sat out for 5-6 games and played for the new school the last 10 games of the same season . Saw it with my own eyes lol

I couldn’t believe it!!!!

This is an incredibly uninformed post. The school in question never challenges transfers under any circumstances. The player in question is a great young lady, great to see her happy and playing well.

Not going to go back and forth on this in this forum about this. But I'll stand by my comments. It wasn't meant to make anyone look bad especially the young lady in question.
