Mortality statistics.

Deaths "involving COVID":

Peak - 4/18:  16,300

Last week - 7/4:  71

Previous week - 6/27: 464

 Next previous week - 6/20:  1,847

There maybe some lag in the reporting.  But the trend on this is positive.  Counter to the "cases" counts being tossed around.

Any cause of death beyond an obvious reason (ie gunshot wound, car accident, heart attack, etc) is really subjective and the opinion of the attending physician. So there's certainly a chance that  deaths could be over reported.  There's an equally good chance that they could be under reported as well.  Think about people who died at home before getting any treatment. Again, I think the distrust of the numbers is sparked more by people being caught up in the idea of "fake news" or looking for ways to just support their opinion that this isn't as serious as it's being made out to be, and is just a grand hoax.

I think it is very serious, don't in any way consider it fake news, and I still question the numbers sometimes.

Correct. As I understand their is a lag in full reporting. Last week the numbers were higher than 71, but yes the death rate trend is positive. The recent spike in cases will be interesting to track in the coming weeks. The more people with positive cases, the more likely - regardless if treatment has improved - deaths will increase. Will probably be 2-3 more weeks before we get an idea on the impact of the recent surge.

Regeneron announced going into phase 2/3 trial of antibody cocktail and phase 3 trial for preventive use. They have received 450 million dollars from federal government to produce the antibodies at risk so that will be available if trials go as planned and emergency use granted by FDA. Could have anywhere from 70,000-300,000 doses depending what is effective dosage amount and first doses could be available at end of summer.

This is good news!

Bell County (KY) had 12 total cases a week ago. As of yesterday, they have 67 total cases.

NYC has more reported deaths (22,296) than Japan has cases (20,174). Tokyo, Japan's biggest city, is larger than NYC. Japan has 980 reported deaths.

402 new cases in KY today, a record.

New requirements coming tomorrow.  I’d bet the farm a mask mandate is one of them.

I would be interested to know what their baseline ICU/bed availability is in the summer high tourism season.  The hospital system I work in is often "at capacity" or has a "full ICU" and it has nothing to do with Covid.  It is tough to tell how bad it is not knowing all the info.

That's after a record day yesterday.

That seems to be the step that most states are taking.

The mask mandate is downright dangerous.

They are ineffective in actual use in broad public settings.  That is more than obvious.

The cause impact to general heath - impacting O2, heart rate and rhythm and respiratory rate as the body has to attempt overcome the restricted breathing.  This is especially true in increased activity.  and exertion.

There are entity practicing medicine without a license.  This will be scary. if the push the mask mandate.
