cch5432
My last point is this? CCH has many rivalries because like Highlands everyone wants to beat them and this is why CCH and Highlands is the best rivalry in NKY. But my question is this. Does CCH look past St. Henry? Does Listerman give them the respect they deserve? Probably the same respect he gives to every other team, and the same that most coaches do. But coaches can only do so much to keep their players from overlooking an opponent.
PutMeInCoach
How many of CCH's players are out from football still?
NKYBOY1487
2 out from football. 1 starter in Kurt Bovard and 1 possible starter in Brandon Brown. But I will say that if Bondick and Rolle play like they did last night Brandon Brown isn't going to be a starter. Those two boys have a bright future. Also CCH is missing its leading rebounder in Billy Schult because of a Knee injury.

MJK3490
Im am not sure that CCH considers St Henry that big of a rival.
PutMeInCoach
CCH with all of their players wins easily.

I will agree that Brown is a good defender, but he struggles handling the ball and is no threat on offense. These two weaknesses will keep Brown from starting. Bondick is the better all around player.

As we saw last night CCH needs as many scoring options as possible and this will be the main reason B Brown will come off the bench. Brandon is a lot like Randy Myers a few seasons agon for CCH. He is a defensive specialist and their is no room for that on this CCH starting lineup.
NKYBOY1487
And they had a little help by the refs. They were equally bad, does anyone know why the foul was called on Feldhaus when he was boxing out Jacobs???? That was one of the best box outs I've seen in high school ball and he was called for a foul?? No way the refs favored St Henry. They both were bad, and bad for both teams. The reason the foul was called on Feldhaus is this. When "boxing out", you are not allowed to displace a player for the spot he is in. The defensive player has the right to the spot on the floor in which he is standing. Feldhaus, not only boxed off Jacobs, but he drove Jacobs half way out to the foul line. This is also very similar to posting up. You can't post up and then keep backing up the defender toward the basket, the defender has the right to stay in the spot on the floor that he occupies, if you force him back, that is a foul. Now, that is the rule. Do you see it called very often... no!!!! TO (the official) that called it, was voted #1 in the ninth region last year, and reffed at Rupp last year. If he called it, it must have been warned already, and was excessive. I will say, I thought the SHDHS fans were going to rush the floor when he made the call.:fight:

You have an offensively minded starting lineup with Bovard, Jacobs, and Grimes. Why not take some pressure off Todd and Kurt defensively? Anyways, Brandon has been playing basketball (and frankly, dominating) since he was 5 years old. No way anyone can say that he "is no threat on offense". Furthermore with his intelligence on and off the court if there is anyone who will know his role on the team (which he recognizes includes not bombing up three after three after three) it is him. ColonelCrazy
I think Brandon Brown can contribute. Should he start? Maybe, but does it really matter? Listerman plays as many as anybody in the state most years. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see Brandon Brown in the starting lineup at the end of the year. Teams are going to focus on Todd and make him beat them. It's up to the rest of the crew to step up & score, and a point guard capable of scoring is a better bet IMO. I don't doubt the impact BB can have on a game (evidenced by his football season), but he's limited offensively. One thing's for sure though. Kevin Listerman is going to love him. I know I'm not one of the older members of the site or even been around basketball that long. But I've been though the St. Henry program, I've seen a lot of basketball at even higher levels. But I've never heard of this rule. What Feldhaus was doing is taught by every basketball coach in the nation. From middle school, high school, and college thats what I've been told. I even teach my 7th grade team this. "Put a but on your man, and get him out of the lane" If thats what was called, thats a joke. That hasn't been called in all the years I've seen ball. Now, if he established position by hooking or pushing, then thats a foul. But if he has position and gets his man out of the lane then thats doing his job.......It might be illegal but I guarentee he was taught to do that. But IMO it is much better to have a player such as Brandon that recognizes his own limitations rather than one who tries to do far too much (i.e. every CovCath player vs. St. Henry last night)
NKYBOY1487
How can you go from saying he has been dominating since he was 5 years old to now saying there is some truth that he is limited offensively. Has been dominating defensively? Look, I don't doubt the kids intelligence, leaderships skills, or his hustle and heart. That can go along way for any athlete. But I've seen a lot of CCH basketball over the years and never saw him as a offensive threat. You cant say that Rolle and Bondick were trying to do too much last. Both of them are the players Brandon is going to fight for time with. Those two guys are team players and distributed the ball just as well as they scored. They are the future of CCH and you have to see this, unless you have blinders on.
