  1. Ludlow's volleyball program is getting more attention during the regionals (due to a typo at the KHSAA website), than they have all season long. Unfortunately, Lloyd's volleyball program is not getting the recognition they deserve. Even the Regional Program that they were distributing at the matches last night listed Ludlow vs. Notre Dame. They had team pictures in the program. I didn't look to see if they had Lloyd's picture or Ludlow's. That would be a real hoot. The icing on the cake would be if someone from Ludlow were to make the All-Tournament Team.
  2. Finals for Tuesday night... St. Henry in 2, and Ryle in 2. They meet on Thursday night to decide who goes to the finals.
  3. I would love to know who the official was at the Beechwood game. At a St. Henry match a couple weeks ago, the referee gave the JV Presentation coach a yellow card, then gave him another one. First of all, from my understanding, 2 yellow cards is not valid. The second should have been red, and he should have been out of the gym. On top of that, the ref didn't have a "YELLOW" card, so he actually lifted up his white rule book, to symbolize the yellow card. Nobody knew what he was doing. Then (getting back to the point of this thread), he continually warned the fans for being rowdy. This was an older gentlemen (55ish) with scraggling greying hair. Does this describe the ref at the beechwood game??
  4. In OH, 3 out of 5 is the normal match. Ask any St. Henry parent that got out of Oak Hills last night after a 3 game Freshman match, 3 game JV Match, and a best of 5 Varsity match that went 4 games. The players got home @ midnight. This is probably the reason to avoid 3 out of 5 games. Especially in long distance travel games. I have an idea, how about getting rid of the 20 minute warm up. St. Henry had a match against an opponent last week in which the score was 25-5 and 25-4. The warm ups almost took longer than the match. Seriously. If you include player announcements and the National anthem, pregame took longer than the match. Shorten warmups to 8 minutes, and play best out of 5. That is my rant for the day... :jump: :jump:
  5. Calling St. Henry's schedule "brutal" is an understatement. Also, it doesn't get any easier. They have Ursuline, Notre Dame, Assumption, Presentation, the LIT (bunch of the same Louisville powerhouses), Henry Clay Tournament (Lexington's best), Northeast OH Tourney (Northern Ohio's best), and the Fall Classic at Cinci Mercy (Southern Oh's finest). This is after playing McCauley, Bishop Watterson, Louisville Mercy, Lousiville Sacred Heart already. It has become obvious that post season play is the focus. This brutal regular season schedule prepares for success during the post season. Hopefully this year reaps the same results as the past 3 years...
  6. After reading this article, the pressure and heat in the gym in Park Hills just went up.
  7. I do have to give John Maley one bit of Kudo's. He had a dunk in a FRESHMAN game a couple years ago that caught everyone off guard. He threw it down like it was his job. I have heard that he has suffered from some back problems, but it wasn't his back that had problems that night, it was the backBOARD!!!! Hope to see you excel this year John. Keep working hard.
  8. WOW!! Didn't mean to hit a nerve. Just curious. Don't read anything into the question. I know Ryan and he is a great guy. As a matter of fact, I talked to him @ 2 weeks ago.
  9. Is Ernst related to someone at NCC? Don't need names, just yes or no.
  10. Interesting, because he was at TMC on Sunday playing ball in a summer league. His parents (and what appeared to be a co-ed friend :ylsuper: ) watching him play. As was Eubel, and others from some local high schools.
  11. Similar to the way they struggled last year to replace 6 graduating seniors from the previous years state runner-up team. :irked: If that is struggling, I hope they struggle the same way this year...
  12. I agree wholeheartedly about the class and pride that the Ryle Raiders have shown. There is a fabulous group of seniors leaving Ryle (Wags, Hump, Vince, etc...) that no-doubt have left a lasting impression on the underclassmen. Great Job guys. Don't dwell on the loss. There is only one team in the state that win's thier last game each year. The other hundreds lose. I wasn't there, but I suspect you did it with class and sportsmanship. Remember the positives, like the fact that all but 8 schools were done over a week ago... I'm sure your summer ball teams were rooting for you, but they will be happy to have you join the team. I know one of them, and he has been scrambling. Anyway, nice job, the 9th region is proud of you.
  13. There is a HS Fall League that is run in NKY called the Boone/Kenton/Campbell Fall Ball. It is run at fields such as Villa, Bellevue Vets, Central Park, etc... which enables schools to play without breaking any KHSAA Rules. Last year we played in it and they had 8 Varsity Teams, 8 JV Teams, and I believe 10 Freshman Teams. Very well run, inexpensive, and played primarily on Sunday's. There is rumor that this year Saturday morning or early afternoon games will be an option also. I you need contact information, PM and I will give you the name and contact person that runs it.
  14. 3PS, showing your lack of inside knowledge again.... During the final, this umpire was not pulled from the game. It was his turn to sit out. There are 4 umpires assigned, to fill 3 spots. He had already worked the two previous games, and it was his turn to sit out. Additionally, your coach complaining fell on deaf ears. He had an opportunity to scratch an umpire, and chose to scratch on of the best in the region. Again, not much intelligence shown there. Lastly, the umpire in question IS one of the best in the region, otherwise he would not have been chosen for this spot BY THE COACHES, the ASSIGNER and his peers. So while you may not like him, you are obviously biased and you are obviously in the minority... (again....). Lastly, try to limit the personal attacks. Last week it was Luke Maile, this week it is the umpire. Man... take a vacation day and relax a bit....
  15. Sorry old guy, but you must have been sitting with an imposter. The umpires for tomorrow night and the finals will be a 4 man crew from the ninth region. The same 4 umpires will do all 3 games (2 semi and 1 final) with a different position for each one. HOWEVER, They will ALL be ninth region umpires. Same 4 guys that you have seen on the 9th regions diamonds all season. These umpires were voted into the honor of working the districts and regionals by the coaches, the assigner and thier peers. If 3ptshooter doesn't like the umps, he is in the minority.
  16. Your backpedaling is falling on deaf ears.... :sssh: Just a side note, I have no allegiance with CCH. I am simply a High School baseball fan.
  17. I agree (as you can see from my post). Makes me wonder if 3ps heard the snide remarks yelled out of the Beechwood dugout by bench players when Blesser let the ground ball roll through his legs at first base in the 5th or 6th inning of Wednesday nights game. Beechwood bench players taunting the opponent, and all this while Beechwood was being routed. I doubt it ever entered thier minds to plunk a Beechwood player after those remarks... you know why... because these are kids, it is no big deal and life goes on after the game.
  18. The St. Henry Player is Sophomore Scott Volz...
  19. Chill out fellas... This is a 15 year old boy. Have you ever seen a linebacker hit a receiver across the middle with a clean, but violent hit. Do you take his knees out the next play because he stood over the receiver after the hit and taunted him??? Have you ever seen one of the other POY candidates get a double with bases loaded in a close game, and then clap over his head once he gets to second celebrating a clutch hit. We don't throw at his ear-hole. Have you ever seen one of the Top volleyball players serve an ace or get a kill and the players celebrate a great play?? We don't wish lightning would strike her... What Luke did is show passion for the game. He showed what you see everyday in other sports. Interesting this remark about it being "classless" came from what I believe is a fan of the team he hit it off of.
  20. I heard from a reliable source that they start at 10am and run 2.5 hours.
  21. Blesser's is capitalized. While Larkin's is lower case.
  22. I think I speak for the masses.... Just kidding DD. I did notice you quieted down a bit... did the wife (or the boy)catch you on BGPreps again and take away your priveleges.... We will miss DD next year when he is watching his boy playing at the next level. His HS team will miss the his boys leadership and enthousiasm for the game. I spoke to one of the HS coaches, and they are really going to miss this entire Senior class. A great group of kids. This is not to be taken negatively by the rest of the team. It's just that the seniors seem like they have been playing varsity out there for @ 6 years.
  23. If Beechwood thinks they have things wrapped up next year, they need to look down Dixie Highway at thier nearest HS neighbor in Park Hills. They may show thier heads again next year. I agree that Beechwood is going to be good, but there are other teams in the same situation.
  24. 3PS, As much as I hate to say this... because I know it makes DiamondDandy happy, you need to look at the pitching stats in the Post from this past Tuesday. Ryle has 4 pitchers in the top 10 in number of wins. Ryle has the pitching to win in a regional that is over in 3 or 4 days. If it goes more than that, Cov Cath has enough... pitching, with Niehaus, Blesser, Nutini, Isler and others. From what I know about the rest of the teams, they are going to struggle. Again, as much as I hate to say it, I do think that the infield defense and pitching will win it for Ryle... not the offense. If Cov Cath wins it, it is because of GREAT COACHING and strong offense. There is not a weak spot in thier offensive line-up. I am considering just packing up the truck with a cooler, a sling chair, and a canopy and parking up at Freedom Field and watching baseball all day on Monday. What better way to spend a holiday.
  25. I'm not saying you are wrong, but don't be so certain. If you look at the State Tournament last year, Assumption was forced to three games by to different teams. (Mercy and St. Henry in the Finals). This proves to me that they can be beaten by a KY team. I will say it was amazing the composure they had after losing the second game of the match in the finals. They laughed it off and went out and sent a message in the last game. I do think that Assumption is tops, but again, the gap is shrinking.:thumb:
