Diamond Dandy Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Hughes gets the win, Wander the loss. Krohman swats two out for Boone. The Raiders didn't hit the ball as solid as usual but found the holes when they needed to. Hope Mark Reed is OK and ready for Monday. Looked like he jambed his wrist diving back into second on a ball hit sharply back to the shortstop and had to leave the game. Boone threw at least 2 more pitchers and the Raiders pitched Wies and Seabald, both looked good.
luvthemraiders Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 How many innings did Hughes throw? Congrats to the Raiders on winning the district again. However, Boone could well get an easier first round draw with the loss. Boone either gets Newport, Dixie or CovCath. 2 out of those 3 options look pretty good to a district runner-up.
WebGems37 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Hughes went 4, Weiss went 2, and Sebald went 1. Update of Mark Reed's injury: His Xrays were negative, but he has a cast on the glove hand, which the doctor told him to leave on for 6 days. I am betting it will be off by Monday. The hand was smashed under the fielder's cleat when he stepped to make the tag on the play at second. Nothing intentional, just a baseball play. Mark reported that the player, Humphrey or Wagner, I can't recall which, immediately said sorry several times. Congratulation Raiders. Hope to see you next week in the finals again.

It was Wags, just talked to him and he feels bad and hopes Mark can play Monday...my bet is he will, and I'am glad it was the glove hand. Diamond Dandy Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 The St. Henry Player is Sophomore Scott Volz... Thanks....just heard it over the PA and jotted it down real fast.
Deep Voice Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Always fun to play at Windows but it takes a little of the reward away for winning the district. In the past, the district winner played the first round of the regional at home. I liked that arrangement better.

The Raiders have played enough games up at Champions in the past 2 years that it seems like their second home anyway, and it's more comfortable for the fans.
