9th Region Volleyball Draw

Featured Replies

St Henry plays Beechwood 6:00 on the 16th ,Ryle plays Scott at 7:30 that night .

Holy Cross plays Boone Co. at 6:00 on the 17th ,while Notre Dame plays Ludlow at 7:30 that night . All games are at Boone Co. High School .

There was a misprint on those brackets. Notre Dame will play Lloyd, not Ludlow.

Holy Cross vs. Boone, Beechwood vs. St. Henry and in the 10th Highlands vs. Campbell look to be a couple of first round matches worth catching.

In the 9th Region, Holy Croos has the toughest draw. They start with Boone, then if they win, have to play ND, and then St. Henry/Ryle in the final. That's a very tough road for the Indians, but I think they can do it. If they come to play, I have no doubt they can win it all.

Holy Cross has already beaten Boone. Beechwood would have been a much tougher draw as the Tigers have beaten Holy Cross twice this year.

Both of those wins came when they were still playing around with the line-up. I saw both games of which Beechwood was lucky to win. With the line-up that is playing now, the Indians would dispatch Beechwood in 2 games.

beechwood actually hasnt really looked that impressive this year- i saw them play notre dame and the 25-17 game was only because ND made some hitting errors ..i believe ludlow took ND to 25- 18...but beechwoods setter is very impressive ..i also have heard how good HC is looking so i think if they would match up again ..the result would be different....

 B-wood has been playing around with their lineup ALL YEAR also.

The Tigers are like 11-0 against the Indians since 2001.

Above is all speculation....I saw both games too...B-wood stayed consistent and figured out how to finish the matches out as a team...No luck involved at all...DESIRE was more like it IMO.

HC has, NO DOUBT, improved immensely as a team. That is what regular season is for...to get all the kinks out before post-season. HC coach has done just that! IMO they'll beat Boone in 3 games tomorrow night and give NDA a rough time on Thursday, but will lose in 2.

Beechwood will have their hands full against St. Henry tonite, they must play the best vball of the year to knock off the Crusaders.

I think the above comment is a very good description of both Beechwood's and Holy Cross' development this season. Both are very good teams with differing strengths and weaknesses.

It is unlikely that we will see a re-match of these two in the regional final so I imagine the record for 2007 stays Beechwood 2 - Holy Cross 0. Good luck to both teams in the regional tournament.

Finals for Tuesday night...

St. Henry in 2, and Ryle in 2. They meet on Thursday night to decide who goes to the finals.

No surprises there.

I didn't get to see the Ludlow/ND game, but I heard they played Notre Dame better than Beechwood did. I think Ludlow surprised a few teams this year with how well they played.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that ND plays Lloyd tonight, not Ludlow so you don't have to worry about missing that game because there is no game that features those two teams.

Ludlow's volleyball program is getting more attention during the regionals (due to a typo at the KHSAA website), than they have all season long.

Unfortunately, Lloyd's volleyball program is not getting the recognition they deserve. Even the Regional Program that they were distributing at the matches last night listed Ludlow vs. Notre Dame. They had team pictures in the program. I didn't look to see if they had Lloyd's picture or Ludlow's. That would be a real hoot.

The icing on the cake would be if someone from Ludlow were to make the All-Tournament Team. ;)
