St. Henry will be playing with a mission this season. They will be missing thier first baseman Richard Bowen due to his battle with Cancer. With that said, I am sure Richard is going to be on the sidelines (or even in the dugout) and will be an inspiration to them all. Won't be surprised if the season is dedicated to his fight with this terrible disease.

Not so sure that last year's record has anything to do with this year's poll, but I understand your point. CovCath usually plays some top notch competition. I'm sure that the reputation of the program has more to do with it than last year's record. Lastly, I have always said that "preseason polls indicate how much talent the players have, and the post season standings usually indicate how much talent the coaches have and what they did with the player-talent". Think about it... it much a great deal of sense. To back this up, look at the basketball teams that Dave Faust has had at St. Henry (not an abundance of talent, but great achievements), look at the teams the Pitino has coached (same... little talent, lots of achievements) at Louisville, and on the other end of the situation, look at how much talent UC's basketball team had year after year in the late 90's and early 2000's but look at how the ended in the rankings (over abudance of talent, not much to show for it... hint, I'm not a big Huggins fan). Not where they were rated preseason. Anyway... enough rambling...

Has anybody else noticed the frequency of ACL tears at NDA. Obviously this is only coincidence, and I am not making any reference except that there is a frequency. If this is the case with Tierney, that mades three people at NDA in the past year within the basketball program. Nutini twice and Weary twice. My knees hurt just just thinking about it. :scared: :scared: Also, having experienced a complete tear of my ACL, complete tears are much worse than partial tears. Complete tears require a graft and reconstruction. Anyway, my prayers are with Miss Tierney that "Three is not the charm"

My bet is for Maile the next two years. If you look at his contributions per playing minute, he is probably best in the region this year.

We should have a contest to see who can guess the date that Faust name gets mentioned in coaching change rumors. His name comes up every year and every year he stays put at SHDHS. This year he is losing 9 seniors and probably 97% of thier offense to graduation.

Great game for the panda's The biggest disappointment was the lack of support shown by the CCH student body. Ironically, I saw quite a few CCH parents at the game, but you could count the CCH students on one hand. Very disappointing!!!! Anyway..... great job Panda's. Keep playing hard Casey J.. I sat with 7 officials watching this game and found it to be well officiated. Now, you will probably reply with a bunch of judgement calls that from the 35th row, you think you had a better angle than the three officials that were 10 feet away from the call

I agree... but i do have to ask....is Luke Maile you game MVP? 11 poimts, 7 rebounds, in limited minutes due to fouls. He gets way too little credit in these types of games. Gonna be quite a stud the next two years. Also, why is Holocher in street clothes??

Funny thing is that I am able to identify the Boone parent based on the grammar. Even worse is that they are going to be around for a couple more years. Maybe the daughter can bring her english book home and share the learnings. :D

At least there is some CONSISTENCY with this speculation. Faust is CONSISTENTYLY rumored to be going somewhere else, and Faust CONSISTENTLY proves everyone wrong and stays put. Dave, keep everyone consistent... SHDHS appreciates what you are doing, and would be hearbroken to see you go anywhere.

The rumor is that he left because he was told to. Who knows...:confused: :confused: NDA has plenty of talent coming back next year and I'm sure that whoever gets the job will have them ready to play come August.

There were several senior that may recieve votes in NKY... a couple girls from NDA, the softball pitcher from Ryle, Snyder from Beechwood, but the runaway winner would obviously be Stephanie Neimer from SHDHS. She led her (underdog) team to the state championship game, 9th region championship, and district championship, all with an entire team of players that were on the JV roster last year. She was a leader, and was patient with the players developing around her, and proved to be a leader down the stretch. UC is getting a gem of a player and a person with Stephanie.

Closest quote from the rulebook I can find is this... Section 4.45 article 5 "A player, whether on the floor or airborne, may not "clear out" or cause contact affecting an opponents vertical plane. This is a foul." You are more than allowed to position your body to prevent a player from getting position for a rebound, but you can't drive him 10 feet backwards. Now, I do agree, many coaches teach this, and it is rarely called. It is only called in excessive situations. Was Feldhaus's situation excessive... I'll let you make that decision...

The reason the foul was called on Feldhaus is this. When "boxing out", you are not allowed to displace a player for the spot he is in. The defensive player has the right to the spot on the floor in which he is standing. Feldhaus, not only boxed off Jacobs, but he drove Jacobs half way out to the foul line. This is also very similar to posting up. You can't post up and then keep backing up the defender toward the basket, the defender has the right to stay in the spot on the floor that he occupies, if you force him back, that is a foul. Now, that is the rule. Do you see it called very often... no!!!! TO (the official) that called it, was voted #1 in the ninth region last year, and reffed at Rupp last year. If he called it, it must have been warned already, and was excessive. I will say, I thought the SHDHS fans were going to rush the floor when he made the call.:fight:

I bet if you ask TO (The official that called the foul on Bondick when Griffin went down), he didn't call an intentional foul. I believe he called an excessively physical foul (the crossed arms signal is the same for both... I believe). It doesn't make any difference because the penalty is the same. However, it gives a way for the officials to penalize even if the player is going for the ball, to prevent physical play of this nature. I haven't talked to TO, but I don't think he called it intentional. He probably went with excessive. I think the Bondick kid is a classy kid as are the majority of the CCH players. Coach Listerman demands it. On the other hand, I know they were emotional, but I think some of the nasty comments that were yelled at Bondick by St. Henry parents were quite inappropriate. This was a much bigger win for St. Henry than it was a loss for Cov Cath. Congratulations to Coach Faust and the players.

I got suspended once for making a comment about bookies. Anyway, great game for the Crusaders of St. Henry. Griffin appeared to break his arm, or elbow, and was down for almost 30 minutes. Lets hope he is back for the rest of the season. Doesn't look promising though.

By my count, they list 73 different players here. How could they have possibly left someone off... :D
