The 6 classifications are not evenly divided. 1A has the 32 smallest schools and 6A has the 32 largest schools. The remaining 4 classifications are evenly divided. barrel Posted November 24, 2016 Share Posted November 24, 2016 There are others who can explain this better but the gist of it was whichever team got the most first downs and advanced into opponents territory most often. There were several playoff games decided this way in the early years. They use to use something similar in TX even fairly recently.
