Brossart has the best chance at removing themselves, mainly because I can see them winning a district title more than a playoff game. They have a tough district matchup in the playoffs.

In the case of Jenkins, it truly was one random year. Won the district title in 1963 and then tied Cumberland in the region championship. Cumberland advanced on penetrations! Besides that tie, Jenkins has never won a playoff game.

There are others who can explain this better but the gist of it was whichever team got the most first downs and advanced into opponents territory most often. There were several playoff games decided this way in the early years.

Like GCHS said, it was decided by yards and first downs I believe. There was no overtime played per se. It was a really screwy world then.

We have definitely improved the method of settling on a winner in a game ending in a tie.
