Yeah, he sure has seen his share of quality backs in the past. I think that we couldn't ask for a better coach for this team. He does have alot of Danville connections with this team.

Yes he does. I think he just took Danvilles offensive playbook from 2002 with him over to Mercer LOL He's a heck of a coach, that's for sure. WHOO HOO! Go Scotties!!:thumb:

Mercer by a bunch, Mercer just has to much for Garrard to even think about staying close. the clock will not stop running sometime in the 2nd quarter.

Mercer 56 - 6

Actually, the running clock is not mandatory until the second half. Our team has been up by 45 by half time and not had a running clock until the start of the second half. Could mean a long half for the golden lions.

Why has Garrard Co. fallen so far so fast? They had some very good teams just a couple of years back and enjoyed the Hounds games against them.

Can they be competitive in the Corbin game this year?

Garrard had a really good stretch of talent for an extended period of time. Starting in 1988, the Golden Lions only had five losing seasons prior to this season. That may not sound like a huge accomplishment, but remember Garrard had only won 99 games total in the previous 24 seasons.

Garrard has now hit a bit of a dry patch. There is some really good talent in the freshmen class, along with the eighth grade and seventh grade classes. If they keep all of those kids in the program, they should be very successful in the next couple of years.

As for this year's game with Corbin, I would expect an easy Redhounds victory. Also, check your PM, 4chs.

Very fair prediction. Garrard is just so young this season and the schedule is really difficult. Not a lot of room to make mistakes and mature. Hopefully if there aren't a lot of field victories, we'll at least see some marked improvement over the year and be ready to tackle a new Class 3A district next season.

By the way, on the Garrard coach's radio program this morning, Coach Stonebraker ran down a tentative schedule for the Golden Lions next season:

Week #

1: Estill County (Death Valley Bowl - Lincoln County High School)

2: @Bardstown Bethlehem

3: Jackson County

4: @Somerset

5: Taylor County (Can't remember if this is home or away)

6: Frankfort

7: Casey County (Not sure about site. Should be home, though)

8: @Lincoln County

9: Wayne County (Again, not sure about site. Probably home)

10 or 11: @Pendleton County

They sure have weakened their schedule. Thats never a good sign.

"Merciless" County will win this in a landslide 64-14...

They are a 5A team playing in a 2A division...but next year, they will get to play teams their own true "size"...

They are fun to watch though!

This is still the 2006 season, right?! Thought so, so that means we are going by the 4 Class enrollment system, so in saying that, Mercer, under the current alignment has right around 915 students, so they are actually a small 3-A school playing in 2A...now, as far as next year goes, yes, they will be bumped up to 5A, but more than half of the current 2A schools will also be moved up a class to 3A and even 4A, with Mercer being the only one moved to 5A.

Does Mercer have a "size" advantage as far as numbers?? Sure. But when you compare their "advantage" to some of the bigger 4A schools (Henderson, Dunbar, and a few others) who have up to over 1,000 more students than some of the smallest schools in 4A, then it really puts Mercers #'s v.s other 2A schools #'s in a REAL, TRUE perspective!:thumb:

BG - well stated!

I was not trying to put them down - KHSAA decides where schools are placed as far as divisions go - all schoold go where they are told - unless they want to move UP.

MC is a VERY GOOD team with great coaches and athletes...I look for them to be playing in the PizzaBox in the late Fall!
