Science Friction
So, many of you said you wouldn't be able to get a hit off of Bronson. What about managing? Suppose you had the opportunity to manage the Reds for, let's say, 44 games( same as Tony Perez). Could you do a better job of calling the shots for those 44 games than Bryan Price would do with those same 44 games?

AverageJoesGym
Given all the statistical information that they have available now it wouldn't be that hard to put together a lineup, set the defense and come hip with a plan on how to pitch to the opposition. Reading the mood/chemistry of the clubhouse, dealing with the business aspectnand having the respect of the players is another matter. I'm going to say that nobody on this board would do any better than Price given this roster.
HammerTime
^ The stats nerds considered Price an average MLB manage by whatever metric they used to determine that last year. I'll have to find the article. So the answer is no, not even close.
rjs4470
I've never played a professional game and haven't managed a game above 16u Southwest Ohio. I do have one year as a D1 grad assistant. I've also never managed a large group of guys that are making way more money than me. I'd say there's zero chance I'm able to pull the strings better than a Low A minor league manager, let alone a big league manager.
plantmanky
Price cant help the players cant do their job. All he can do is throw them out there and hope.
ZJH
Could I? Probably not. But on another note, We shouldn't have gotten rid of Dusty in the first place to end up having Price as the manager, in my opinion.
LRCW
Can someone tell me why any Manager worth a hoot would pull the infield in in a game which you are already losing by 5 runs in the 5th inning?
HammerTime
Can someone tell me why any Manager worth a hoot would pull the infield in in a game which you are already losing by 5 runs in the 5th inning? So you aren't losing by 6?
LRCW
So you aren't losing by 6? No they were losing by 6 after the batter hit a grounder past the drawn in infield. It's an idiotic move.

Science Friction
I know I certainly could not. Per LRCW's posts, think of some of the idiotic things that Price has done? So you would pull the infield in, down five in the fifth? And that's just the tip of the iceberg of some of the gems he's pulled.
frankdracman23
The Manager has little to do with most games. Except for Lou Brown.
