HHS played their best team game of the season against SK. Offensively relied on the pass early and got the running game going late. Hollingsworth completed passes to 6 different receivers. Huddleston is really good at adjusting to the ball in the air. He has really good strong hands. Bowling ran the ball well late. HHS defense played well. A couple of interceptions and several tackles for loss. Nice game by the front 8 - Webster and others played well at LB. Nice job by this group stepping up in the absence of Schwalbach (dislocated elbow) and McGuire (knee) due to injury. SK does full 2 platoon. They are big on both lines. They have nice players. The program is in good shape with this group moving forward.

The varsity kicker at HHS is a sophomore. Developing a kicker from this grade level is really not that important. Would be nice to have the option to kick in the frosh games, but really not a big deal going forward.

Three penalties at the end of the game that just CAN NOT happen. Roughing the punter. Late hit out of bounds on the last kickoff. Offsides on 4th and 6 on the final drive.

Thanks for the link. Just watched the first half. Usually when a fan says "no way CC should have lost that game" I'm skeptical about what that means. Not in this case. Camels completely dominated the first half. EC ran a total of 11 offensive plays that resulted in 1 first down and 17 total yards. Campbell had at least 200 yards of total offense. Halftime score - EC 14 Campbell 7 Not sure about blaming the coach for an interception return when the ball was right on target and the ball bounces off the receivers breast plate and is returned 85 yards for a TD or blaming the coach for a very nice athletic punt return. Campbell passing game looks good, running game not so much.

I said in the frosh N Ky thread that HHS has a nice mix of size and athleticism. The size part is relative to the rest of N Ky not Trinity. Compared to Trinity they were dwarfed. The Rocks have 6 or 7 kids that go 225+. Now some of that weight needs to be transformed as they get older, but they are a group of very big young men. Roberson (spelling??- #32) is a stud. As was mentioned, he has size and speed that can not be taught. Both of the Rocks QB's did a nice job. Wagner, though a lot smaller, played very well during his snaps. For the Birds, Lewin played well until getting hurt. Huddleston with several nice catches including 2 TD's. Not as big a factor on D as I thought he would be and was pulled in the 4th quarter with an injury. Ahlfeld threw some beautiful deep balls for a couple of scores. Mason Schwalbach had a super game. Ran the ball well and had a lot of tackles. He scooped up a fumble and rambled all the way to the 1/2 yard line to set up a Bluebird TD. Game turned when Trinity started doubling Huddleston's routes in the 3rd quarter. Trinity eventually wore the young Birds out. Great game to watch.

Highlands frosh roster has 40 boys. Good mix of size and athleticism. Huddleston played at this level last year and should lead on both sides of the ball.

I guess you need to define "compete" to further this discussion. A Cincy big school margin of victory of 9 ppg over 12 games says HHS competed very well to me. Using GCL scores only it is a 6 ppg margin. HHS learned something, and got better every time they challenged themselves. Scrimmages versus Trinity and St X serve the same purpose. Ryle coaches and admin get it. Scheduling Lasalle, Sycamore, or any other large school from Cincy helps the program. The Ohio schools are the ones that judge the benefit of these games by getting a W and Harbin points, the KY schools need to judge the results based on just getting better for a deep playoff run.

Kyle Finfrock is leading returning scorer (9.8 ppg) and leading returning rebounder ( 9.4 rpg ) for the Birds.

I'm hearing that CovCath has hired a JV coach. Can anyone confirm.

Last night Ryle hosted Cooper, Highlands, and Simon Kenton for a series of 7v7 scrimmages. Round robin format and then Ryle/Cooper and HHS/SK got in additional work for a fourth scrimmage for each team. Well organized and run. From my perspective, coaches did a great job of getting all kids ample snaps. Each team had about 20 to 30 players there competing. No numbers or names to help identify kids. For Ryle, England stood out. Even though as a RB he would normally be limited to touches in this type of format, the Raiders still found a way to get him involved. When he touched the ball he showed why he has been talked up on this site. He was impressive. The Raiders also have a few big, strong receivers that looked good. For HHS, Huddleston looked very good on O and D. Catches everything thrown close and has great instincts on D. The Birds have several other players that will compliment Huddy at skill positions. I do not know any of the SK or Cooper players -- they competed well and made several nice plays.

I ask again. How is he eligible? I think we learned from the Jenna Martin thread that being in or out of district does not matter. You must meet one of the exceptions/criteria to be eligible ie..change of address- does this apply.

I was at the banquet, and unless I was sleeping through the individual region representatives as they were announced - Creech wasn't even her region's representative. This was a no-brainer. Congrats to Erin.

Epic fail on my part. My intent was to highlight that the relationships are strong and have been for years and I typed the wrong name Logan Neff had a great football career at NCC and now it is Austin's time to shine. Sorry for the mistake.

I answered both because I know Fort Thomas kids. It was obviously fun for Ben, Eric, Brian, and Logan. Nothing like winning the ninth region championship. Fun for Highlands kids also - to see their friends win the tournament. These kids have grown up together in Fort Thomas. Played sports with and against each other since they were very young. Families live and work in the community together. Congrats to the Weyer, Anderson, and Neff families. Keep the fun coming.
