2015/16 NKY Boys BBall 6th, 7th, & 8th
stinkyboy II replied to TNT-MB1's topic in Middle School Sports
Based on the posts in this thread, can I assume the 8th grade Hicks boy is going to be getting significant varsity minutes at Conner this year. -

A game between a prep school in Virginia and an Academy team from South Carolina. So why is this thread in the Ky High School Basketball forum? -
What I've learned from this thread is that the "culture" and that the "team chemistry" at Ryle was not conducive to a deep playoff run.

Most Consecutive Regional Finals?
stinkyboy II replied to frankdracman23's topic in KY Football (High School)
In 2006 and 2007 there was a bracket change for the playoffs. The first 2 rounds of the playoffs were within your own district. NCC was indeed the 3 seed, but they beat Holy Cross (#2 seed) to play Beechwood in the second round. 2006 is also the last season HHS did not make a regional final. Lost to CovCath in round two. -
Mullins cleared and eligible immediately or at semester break?? I remember reading about two reasons 1) played varsity last season at Holmes, and 2) enrolled at Newport after deadline for first semester eligibility requirement.

Drew Barker to get first start vs. Charlotte
stinkyboy II replied to BlueTip's topic in College Football
I agree with the post a bit earlier. Pat was benched in the Vandy game. That was the time for Drew to take over. He was given just a few series and then back comes Pat. Stoops or Dawson should have never gone back to Pat on Saturday. Showed a lack of confidence in Barker. If it was time for a change, it was time for a change. Now with a cupcake opponent on deck its time for Drew to start. I'm glad these coaches can recruit, because they seem to lack in the day to day, game to game handling of a program. I only followed UK football because of Pat. I'll follow whichever school he attends next year as a grad student transfer. -
Should be called by an official with the correct angle to see the illegal block. Should also never be called by an official 40 yards from the block.

Nice CATCH Timmons. Makes the QB look better when you actually catch the ball. Also better play call. Little out route into the boundary. Works better than squeezing in a fade.e
-
UK took over the ball at the 4. Came out in a power formation - calls timeout. Decides to go empty. Then on second down fade to the short side of the field. Blame Towels all you want. A three year old could call better plays in the red zone.
-
Nice play call. Fade to the short side. Lots of room there to throw a fade. Ridiculous.
-
Listening to radio broadcast. Both incompletions should have been caught for TD's. OL giving Pat time. Throws on the money. Catch the ball.
-
The problem isn't 5 blocking 6 or 6 blocking 7. The problem is our 6 can't block their 4. No need to blitz. Drop 7 and opponents still get pressure. Amazed Pat has stayed healthy. All that said, record will still turn out as most expected. Cats will play in a bowl game. Baby steps.

Dougherty has been moved back to inside LB for several weeks now. After the season ending injury to Dressman, JD back to LB and now Sam Taylor is playing safety. -

Scary thought if your a Bluebird fan. First game was 7-0 at half. HHS didn't blow it open until the 4th quarter. I'm looking for the Birds to be in control this time around by halftime. -

Back in August there was a thread asking for members to predict UK's season record. I went back and tallied the results. 9-3 - 1 8-4 - 4 7-5 - 7 6-6 - 9 5-7 - 9 4-8 - 6 3-9 - 2 Nice pretty bell curve of predictions. With 4 games remaining and the season record to probably fall right there where members predicted, Why all the negativity? Aren't the Cats performing exactly as expected??

What #4 seeds can get the upset win?
stinkyboy II replied to Voice of Reason's topic in KY Football (High School)
I know nearly every year we have had a 4 vs 1 upset. I don't see it this year. One seeds go 48-0. -
Another problem with the system is the early retirement age availability. Teachers and administrators start drawing from the system in their early 50's. With life expectancy now approaching an average of 80 years - teachers are drawing from the system for decades. The social security system has tried to keep up with the raising life expectancy by raising the age of eligibility - not true with state teacher retirement systems.

Most private sector employers have moved away from a defined benefit plan and gone to less costly 401K match plans. My fortune 500 employer did it 15 years ago. I wasn't happy at the time, but I know that move has made the company stronger. .

Is 10 points too much against the Browns?
stinkyboy II replied to theguru's topic in National Football League (NFL)
It's not whether you win or lose, it's whether you cover the spread. Bengals are 7-0 against the spread this year also. I'll take them to go 8-0 and 8-0. -

I fully expected HHS to dominate the Rebels in this game. The fact that they didn't doesn't change my opinion on how far I expect them to go in the playoffs. The previous three weeks the Birds had been able to avoid turning the ball over. Turnovers are great equalizers in a game. HHS scored early because of a BC turnover then proceeded to give the ball back to BC with an interception, a fumble, and a punt that grazed an up back. HHS did not handle the slick grass field very well also. A lot of slipping and sliding going on. Hergott specifically was having trouble with his footing. Finally worth mentioning is that Tyler Robinson sat this game out nursing a minor injury. He is by far the biggest and best DLineman for the Birds. BC would have had their hands full trying to run between the tackles with Tyler over the nose. Without him on the field, BC was able to string together first downs and play keep away with ball.
